I think this is a boat ride for people who just want to chill and slow down! I agree that it may not be everyone’s style…
I can agree though that the views are lovely!
Thanks for taking us for a ride, Nat!
    Well done as always! 😊

Totally true. Most people I've met, those who've done the trip said they enjoyed it because it's chill. Thanks for coming with us🙂

    Dear Nat
I think your videos are great and I watch every one. It brings Laos to Switzerland and makes me happy.
I'm coming back to Luang Prabang in mid-October and look forward to seeing you.
Maybe you will accompany me in Laos when I equip Primal schools with school books and materials - that would be great!
    Gabriel

Hey there, thank you for keeping up with my adventures. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the video.
Let me know when you are in town, I may be around by the time you are in Laos, and I may be able to join you for the trip to the village. Bless you🙂

I really enjoyed watching the scenery. This will be one of the paths I will add to my itinerary after I retire and go explore Laos and Thailand. Looking forward to the slow traveling days. Thanks Nat.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The scenery is great. Do make sure to avoid doing it from March-May because it's very hot and air polluted.

Thank you for coming along. I'm happy that you enjoyed the video.
The town is very small. Actually they have some nice sightseeing around like the elephant park, the viewpoint and cave.

I like to see you when you're traveling. Your face changes, you look happier and more HANDSOME. Traveling suits you well. Your videos are an inspiration to me. You do a lot with very little. HUGS! Eres una inspiración, para nosotros (los occidentales ) es muy fácil viajar por nuestro poder adquisitivo. Encontrar a un hombre Lao que viaja con todos los hándicaps que tienes es un soplo de aire fresco.

I will never get over all the natural beauty that the Lao landscape has to offer. Thank you, Nat, for capturing it so well on video. I was surprised to see so many travelers, especially since you mentioned it that it was low season. I hope that bodes well for the local economy. Take care! ❤

Thank you for always coming along.
The scenery is indeed mesmerising. Probably one of the best sceneries in Laos I've ever seen. And because of the rain we didn't get to see much along the Mekong. According to the lady who owns the boat, she mentioned that normally you will see children swimming and playing by the beach. People fishing and merchants loading their goods on small long tail boats cruising up and down the river. I'm glad I've done it.

@natnomad I'm glad you were able to experience it even though it is indeed a long and tiring trip. It's an experience very unique to Laos, and everyone should try it at least once.

This is another interesting video of Yours! Although you said it is a route which is popular between tourisits it looks like very local experience alltogether, including the stop over village and the fact that they do not stop in the cave temple just as an example. I suppose if it was meant to be more 'touristy' they would make sure to include additional attractions and add souvenir stands everywhere where people stop by... and pump the prices of it too. For me it looks like slow but still quite good type of local transportation in the area where the road trip might be even more challenging. Thank you for sharing this experience, it is always a pleasure to indulge in the real local atmosphere in Your videos!

    • @natnomad

Thank you for such nice feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. According to the lady who owns the boat. She said there is only one boat per day leaving from those towns to Luang Prabang. And that's the reason why they have to stop and collect all passengers along the way, as they need to get to their villages/destinations. Now I understand. The scenery along the way is spectacular. Also without the rain you'll see more life along the Mekong, children swimming and people fishing.
If you have a chance I'd recommend this trip, perhaps down stream hehe, but do expect a long day for both legs.

Hi Nat, hope you're doing well?
I really enjoyed the video as always. Great views and an interesting journey.
I think for me as a tourist I would enjoy the boat as I'm probably only going to do it once

Sabaidee, I'm well and enjoying my adventures as always. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the video. Not gonna lie the scenery is spectacular, probably one of the most beautiful sceneries I've ever seen in Laos. Only it's a bit too slow for me hehe.
But if you have a chance, I totally recommend this trip, again do expect a long day.

I love your peaceful, thoughtful demeanor, while giving all the important details..the way you present is fun and optimistic yet very different to those wanna be " influencer" type backpacker channels.
What you do is very VERY refreshing...thank you🪄🪷🇱🇦
I first went to Laos in 2001 ( for a month) and loved it..I live in siem reap now and plan to visit Laos again 😊
I took the boat trip featured way back then, the boat I was on transported motor bikes and had very few passengers. I found it relaxing, I kind of agree with you... it's a LONG journey with beautiful scenery but got slightly monotonous towards the end 😁

      @natnomad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thank you very much for your compliments. I'm flattered and happy to hear that.
2001 must be so different compared to now. Hopefully you'll come visit Laos soon. And perhaps try the boat trip once again😉

Off season sounds great for a visit, in some ways.. the flooding of LP in the rainy season concerns me a bit...phenom phen is currently flooded( some areas) as well 😮
I'd consider the boat trip again, maybe 😉... not as a top priority😂...I'm seeking hot springs ...and maybe a look at the mysterious plain of jars...

    • @natnomad
      @natnomad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The best time to visit Laos is from November to February. The plain of jars is absolutely stunning and mysterious. You'll like it. Stay safe!

Yeah, it looked like I would consider the trip an unnecessarily uncomfortable experience. Why do it? One can see the river in other ways that don’t tax one’s patience. I took the bus in the opposite direction, and it wasn’t all that interesting or comfortable either. But what the hell; it is good to learn how others live their lives.

China is helping Laos but at what cost? Soon China will own Laos and the Laotian will suffer because of this. The kip value is dropping fast because Laos is so much in debt to China and have no way of paying them back because Laos lack economy. Wish nothing but the best for Laos. Hope they can get out of the grip of China and develop their own country.

I have a question. You keep saying it's boring in your video in your own country? Then how are you expected to tours to figure it out? What you're trying to say.Because I think it's not that it's you that is boring

Like I said in the end "each to their own" some people like it. For me it is too slow. My experience is not everybody's experience. But I'm glad I've done the trip. The scenery is stunning though.
