I bought an outfit from Gracie and immediately got chewed out by Francine who was like "What were you thinking? Is that an in-season item? this was actually my first animal crossing (i got onboard pretty late lol), and i don't usually see it get much attention, so thanks for this video! it was a nice nostalgia trip
Bit late to this, but I think City Folk is underrated because it's on the Wii. As a child, it's hard to get on that console to play the game everyday when your parents are hogging the TV. The DS games never had that problem. Plus, the DS is portable so even when you got dragged out the house, you could still play those games.
I had this exact problem with city folk (or let's go to the city, UK player here haha). I had a gamecube upstairs and obviously my 3ds could handle NL and WW, but I never got to give CF as much attention because the Wii was impossible to reach with my parents using the TV all the time. I think that's exactly why I was less attached to it
I like how natural the gameplay feels in this. no insane unrealistic play, and not assuming that we've already played the game and are familiar with everything. This is the only AC game i've played outside of ACNH so i'm very familiar w it but it was fun to watch it through fresh eyes! i genuinely can't tell if you've never played or not ♡ makes for a more fun narrative
It’s really funny that everyone complains about how expensive the houses are in AC when you stop and consider that this being a Japanese game means that 1 bell is supposed to feel like 1 yen. So 19,800 bells is like $130 USD
My first Ac was new leaf, but some years later I bought City Folk just to try it and it was strange coming from new leaf, but I really like this game, the city is just so fun, and I'm happy that they brought it back spiritually in NL with the main street. Thank you for the series on animal crossing, I miss being little and playing in co-op with my friends on Ac.
This was the first animal crossing game I ever played. The Wii was the first console I ever had, and I had gotten this game and 2 others (that I don’t really remember what they were) the day I got the Wii. I never had a NS, or a GameCube, or 3DS. I absolutely loved this game so much. I played it so much, I ended up going through about 6 copies of the disc. This brought back SO many memories. Thank you
I my opinion, City Folk is the best Animal Crossing game made. The villagers have much more personality and there's so much more stuff to do, like the city. I've always had fun playing it, even now.
I’ve noticed with the older releases, if you give said item you fish for or fossil to the museum the items increase in value (they don’t on acnh but all the older releases)
Animal crossing city folk was my first animal crossing game, I remember owning it for a solid 5 years, just sitting there because whenever we started up the game it said we needed an SD card, we didn't have one back then so we were just waiting too play it one day, then we got one and it was so much fun. Why has no one told Elijah that the turnip price changes twice a day? He would always profit since there's always a turnip price higher than the original purchase.
@@The_Metal_Mechanic i'm more surprised he doesnt use a website to help him see if they'll keep going up or stop. but i guess that makes things more exciting.
@@TaycatPoyo yeah, he probably feels that would be against the spirit of someone new picking up the game with limited knowledge. If he was trying to optimize everything he'd probably just spend hours fishing at the beach for the first few days and then use a turnip calculator to predict a good payout. That's usually how I make money in the early parts of the games.
City Folk was my first Animal Crossing game, my aunt bought it on the Wii for me and would play it with me when she came to visit. I still remember getting super excited when I saw a bird in a fancy cage in Gracie's store, so my aunt stayed up late and farmed bells so that she could surprise me with it in the morning 🥰 it will always be one of my favorite Animal Crossing games
If you donate it actually helps the village and if you donate 250K you get a magical fountain and an encounter where if you answer right you get the golden ax
This game was my favorite in the AC series before New Horizons. Myself and my sister put so many hours making the perfect town. So many reset towns. It was super fun though! Surprised it was so poorly recieved though…
For as much as getting Bells as fast as possible is a common thread through these 100 day videos, I kinda feel like I make more casually. High price fish and bugs go a long way, especially the night beetles…and I don’t think I’ve sold normal fruit in years.
This is lovely to see! City Folk was always my favourite game. It still has the calm(ish) atmosphere of a small town, it's still a big deal when someone says they wanna move away, you don't have total power, you have to work pretty hard for what you have, villager personalities are still very distinguishable, the NPC dialogue is usually pretty funny/interesting/cute/just plain good, the city is a rally cool function, the lost and found!, pitfall seeds can be used for mischief more easily, it's more of an accomplishment to get all the fruits, it's a shame the online feature is gone but it was cool, redd's club card is actually shady/hard to get, the soundtrack has more distinct sounds for each hour and weather (you can actually tell when it's 4am and snowing if you play enough at that time), the fashion is still awesome but also a bit sillier too, and after all that it still feels like you're living in a town and watching the years go by in a home you've come to love. Some of these things can feel like cons instead of pros, depending on what you like in a game, no shade if you prefer New Horizons! I just wanted to have a little rant about what I love about City Folk on the internet and see if it touches anyone else's heart. Oh and also there's just this feeling I attach with it that's special, I'm sure some of you have that game you can't describe :)
@@camillewheel he dug the holes next to each other. If he dug one behind him and one on the side making a corner of sorts, he could get an 8th bundle of bells, which is an 8,000 bell bundle I believe. Would have gave him a lot more bells to work with over time
These are my favorite types of videos of yours! Only qualm is it practically turned into stock market simulator with how much you covered turnip prices/selling. Even still, great video and hope you keep these up for the other games in the series!
i love these videos! i haven’t found a lot of animal crossing youtubers that i like - so i love watching your videos!!! i’d love to see you play happy home designer & the acnh dlc too!!
I play this on my Steam Deck a lot. Got great controls set up where touching the right trackpad makes the cursor show up and pressing down on it presses A.
I can't seem to get my money rock trick to work in New Horizons. But in City Folk and the original Gamecube version, if you dig 3 holes behind you, and then hit the rock with your shovel. Your character will never move out of range from the rock, and you are guaranteed to get all 18k bells from hitting the rock with the shovel. Also I remember with City Folk, the easiest way to click on stuff without having to deal with the annoying hand thing, was to use a gamecube controller or point the motion control away from the screen, that way that hand icon won't hit anything. This will prevent you from having to click precisely on a door/tree etc, and will allow you to simply open stuff by walking to it and pressing A.
I loved city folk and had no idea people didn't like it until years later. My co workers and I all played it and would visit each other's islands and then talk about it all day at work.
this was the first animal crossing game i ever played. love love loved it. would play online with my cousin and do the pockets full of bells glitch. so many hours spent late into the nhight on this game. great memories

Loved this video! Made me more motivated to try the turnip market more! 😂 Can’t wait for the New Leaf one and you should also do 100 days in NH! ✨
Why has no one told Elijah that the turnip price changes twice a day? He would always profit since there's always a turnip price higher than the original purchase.
I just got to the point where he learned, or at least revealed that he already knew.
I love City Folk!! I really enjoyed watching this video. You captured so much of my nostalgia for the game
I waited so long for you to do this game, it's my favorite and first game!
This was my absolute favorite game when i was younger, and the first animal crossing game I've ever played. Ive always loved Nibbles the squirrel.
High price fish and bugs go a long way, especially the night beetles…and I don’t think I’ve sold normal fruit in years.
oh this is so nostalgic 💔💔
I never played this one or New Leaf unfortunately but I’m surprised by how good this looks. It looks a lot of fun! I love the city aspect of it
This is lovely to see!
Serious tip
Dig two holes to serve as a makeshift corner while hotting a money rock to consistently get the max amount.
He did
@@camillewheel he dug the holes next to each other. If he dug one behind him and one on the side making a corner of sorts, he could get an 8th bundle of bells, which is an 8,000 bell bundle I believe. Would have gave him a lot more bells to work with over time
PLEASE Do this series for New Leaf!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!!
I really want to see 100 days on New Leaf!
ready for new leaf
Did anyone thank his blue hair cut looked suuuuupperrrrrrr🤖🏴☠️
Lol its funny seeing you battle with the wii controls
These are my favorite types of videos of yours! Only qualm is it practically turned into stock market simulator with how much you covered turnip prices/selling. Even still, great video and hope you keep these up for the other games in the series!
I love these videos. Can’t wait for New Leaf next
i love these videos! i haven’t found a lot of animal crossing youtubers that i like - so i love watching your videos!!! i’d love to see you play happy home designer & the acnh dlc too!!
City Folk was my childhood, and it really helped me learn English. It'll always be special to me
I play this on my Steam Deck a lot. Got great controls set up where touching the right trackpad makes the cursor show up and pressing down on it presses A.
1:15:14 “two days ago” is a play on the Beatles Yesterday so it has the same melocoly lol
I started animal Crossing city folk, and the first villager I met was Bob!! He's one of my favorite villagers 😁
Omg I’ve been loving your 100 days of *insert animal crossing game*, and I love the Persona music in the background 🫣
I have the GameCube animal crossing and it still works on top of that I have the 3ds new leaf animal crossing andI still play it to this day lol
People say that to this day new leaf is the best game in the series so I’m excited to see the 100 days to know what’s the deal with this game
I loved city folk and had no idea people didn't like it until years later. My co workers and I all played it and would visit each other's islands and then talk about it all day at work.
I remember getting bored and mailing my neighbours pears and they responded with the other fruit that’s in the game, that felt amazing 😂
So cool you met Benedict! I have in New Horizions! He looks mostly the same from Wild World :)
this was the first animal crossing game i ever played. love love loved it. would play online with my cousin and do the pockets full of bells glitch. so many hours spent late into the nhight on this game. great memories
City Folk was my absolute favorite. Maybe because I made so many friends on it!
i have never played any of the other animal crossing games growing up. Only animal crossing pocket caml and animal crossing new horizons. I just bought the one your playing off eBay and i hope i like it. Is there a big differencw between the new animal crossing and old one?
I get so happy when i see new videos like this from you bro
The lightning shirt is actually my main shirt in new leaf, nice that you're wearing it.
