Trust me, I had to cut a ton of footage and this was the shortest I could make the video. After nearly a decade of my life devoted to this channel, we finally approach a little place I call "home." - Thanks to all my best friends and Fellow USA Geograpeeps that helped with this video, and hope you have a HAPPY 4th of JULY! ENJOY the #USA Episode!
technically, he would still have to fy ALL OVER the US... that is a HUGE task. I've driven across the US coast to coast 5 times... and up each coast around 10 times. I have lived in 10 different states and visited as many places as possible... I have still not seen most of the thing in the US.
Barbs......... The US does use the metric system........... It's not just limited to science, but that's who use it mostly. We have 2 official systems of measurement.
Honestly, it sincerely warms my heart to finally see someone not just mindlessly dunk on my country but actually praise it and remind us all why our country is so great. Yes, we are far from a perfect nation, any American will admit that, but we are still a great and influential nation that has brought many excellent things into this world, and more than anything else, it's home, and I think it's only fair to have a place in your heart for home.
I'll have to admit it, as fun as it is to dunk on America, it's always soothing to just appreciate how amazing the United States of America genuinely is. It's not perfect country, it's far from a perfect friend, but it's the friend you can't abandon.
A lot Americans forget how grateful they are to have a country with good infrastructure everywhere. Compared to my country Indonesia where a lot of places don't even have access to electricity and the sidewalks aren't walkable
The proudest American invention, which the entire world has benefitted from for over a century and will benefit from for centuries into the future, is the National Park system. There are more than 6000 national parks across the world, 424 of which are located in the US, all beginning with Yellowstone National Park in 1872.
I love how this episode captured how different and diverse Americans may be in attitudes and opinions, but still emphasizes that we’re Americans at the end of the day 🇺🇸
It was a surprisingly fast-paced video for a 1 hour episode. This is a love letter for America. So patriotic, but well grounded and down to earth. Congrats! Really loved your video.
Quite a disappointment to discover you were first. We've lived for decades thinking we were the the first ones. But it's okay. I'm still fine with the idea the Dutch Republic being one of the bigger sources of inspirations next to Napoleonic France and the UK for the American Declaration of Independence and how the state should function.
@@koninkrijkdernederlanden8711sorry to disappoint you further but Napoleonic France had nothing to do with inspiring the Declaration of Independence. Might be getting those two flipped.
Yeah either Morocco or the Ragusan Republic based in Dubrovnik in modern-day Croatia but there are no official sources for that so I’m sticking with Morocco for now.
Taiwanese here. Extremely thankful for the US. Taiwan is also a close ally of the US, despite not having formal diplomatic ties. Taiwanese people also can travel to the US visa-free (and Americans to Taiwan visa-free as well). In fact, Taiwanese Americans contribute a lot to both the tech and entertainment industries of both countries.
As an Indian, if there's one thing I want India to learn from USA, it is the insane amount of documentation of anything. United States is one of, if not the most well-documented countries in the world. Literally look up any American school, college, incident, company, landmark or personality on Wikipedia and see how long and well-written the page would be. Meanwhile we feel ashamed of reading our own language and rely on English instead. There are also several other things I'd want India to learn from USA, such as openly acknowledging its problems instead of relying on whataboutism, or not littering and spitting everywhere, or having state flags. But those things are not exclusive to USA and can be found in most developed countries around the world.
FYI, it was Ulysses S Grant who established the national parks, and Benjamin Harisson who established the most. Roosevelt is was the one behind national forests, not national parks.
Although there is much criticism on the US today, especially regarding its politics, we cannot deny the country had and has a great influence over the world. As someone from the Netherlands I am grateful for the US for liberating parts of Europa, as well as parts of my country during WW2.
@@fs5775a hot mess with still so much opportunity as long as there’s free elections there’s hope for progress. 🙏 I love how critical Americans are of their own country yet understand how much of a blessing it is to be here
seeing how detailed each country spotlight has gotten as of late, barbs should do longer redux vids on the earlier countries when hes done with the last Z country
I also think that! As an Italian, I'd say that the episode of my country was very condensed compared to similarly sized and culturally diverse nations that he has done recently. Especially because of the insights he has recieved lately from people actually from the country he is talking about, his videos have become much more interesting.
As depressing as it can be witnessing a lot of the divisions and animosities and changes happening in America, this really put into perspective a lot of the awesome beautiful things that exemplify what being an American is about. Thanks for reminding me why I love being an American 🇺🇸
Get them together in the same room and away from the internet they'll probably get along just fine compared to through the News lens or social media. Some of our perceptions are just there because we're both in separate places dealing with things from points of view without talking to each other.
Though social media is partly problematic because it's a technology that doesn't function on how humans talk to each before it existed. This is why messaging apps and group chats may work. But platforms like Twitter and Facebook or threads don't perform well UI well when it comes to conversations. they may be good for announcements and thoughts on subjects. But ask anyone on those platforms to have a long discussion. And their pretty much useless. Threads is also turning into a platform for people just to comment on Twitter. Due to the events that were unfolding right when it was released. This the functionality and performance of these platforms is more reliant on outside factors then the platforms themselves.
@@CaptainAmerica001 They are talking about the US. Its shorthand to call the USA “America” here and in a few other countries with close ties, and we seperate the continent into North and South America. Referring to both would be “The Americas.” Not saying you are wrong, but that’s just what the comment meant, we call ourselves Americans as in the denonym for the USA.
I hope when he ends the alphabet he revisits earlier alphabet countries in a “things we missed” segment to add in information he didn’t include due to his previous time constraints to give him more content to do. I know for my country (Canada) I’d love that because in comparison to current countries who get 30 minutes or more of coverage he missed ALOT.
From Vietnam, happy the 4th of July! The history between my country and the United States had a rough start, but now it's better than ever. In modern-day Vietnam, most people have a positive view about the United States. The US is often the biggest export market of Vietnam. Many young Vietnamese people dream of education and opportunities in the US. The US has donated a lot of vaccines and funding to help Vietnamese people through the pandemic, just one example on how American technology has shaped the modern life here. I have chances to talk to many friendly Americans, they are great people! Some of my relatives are US citizens. Always hope the relation between Vietnam and the US will grow stronger and stronger.
Hopefully one day I can visit your country. You are completely right in saying we had a hard start but now it’s great to see that even after hardships we can stand proudly with one another. Vietnam is one of my top countries to visit on day. Can wait to see it. Have a wonderful day…
Thank you for the the kind words! I’ve always had a deep respect for the Vietnamese people. You’re some of the most smiley and hard working people on the planet! True warriors as well! Sending love from the Hoosier State!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇻🇳🇻🇳
Some of the loveliest people I’ve ever met were from Vietnam. I teach college courses in the DFW area, and a number of recent immigrants from Vietnam have been enrolled in my courses. They all share the same sentiments as you: a genuine curiosity and appreciation for the USA, and yes, our shared economic interests have definitely improved relations. I have encouraged many people to visit Vietnam and to see the natural beauty that exists there. ❤
As a Laotian-American, a member of the first Laotian family to immigrate into the state of Georgia, I would say that the US is really diverse place, both landscape and people-wise, filled with a culture that many people across every corners of the world tend to fall in love with.
Can I say how much I love, love, love this video? Aside from the fact that I got choked up just watching the introduction, I appreciated it's thoroughness, honesty, and patriotism. Our country is not perfect, but nevertheless we are incredibly blessed to live here. My kids and I have been fans of your channel for a while and just want to say keep up the good work! We saw it as soon as it came out and will be watching this one again since it's so good!
With everything going on in the USA today, it's easy to feel disenfranchised and jaded, but this video reminded me of so many amazing things that I have to be grateful for and proud about as an American. Team Geography Now is the hero we need AND deserve. Thank you!
I totally agree. I just found this channel and have to recommend it to my grandson. He watches channels that have under the radar divisive stuff in it. Prefer this totally.
As an American (as in the Statesian since someone out there will probably say American doesn't just refer to the US) that seen enough BS his own country has done, Barb's video was a somewhat refreshing change in seeing what amazing things there are despite whatever problems the US has.
Can you go to heaven if you die now? The Bible says that Jesus is a true God. I was really called by the Holy Spirit from Jesus. I've seen hell burning forever with sulfur in the center of the earth. The Bible is the truth. When I was young, I went to church for the first time, and the Holy Spirit came to me like the wind from heaven "Trust the Lord Jesus and you and your house will be saved" (Bible) 《 I,m Korea 》
I love being American 🇺🇲 There are flaws here, and at the same time, there is so much good, and so much opportunity to experience life in all its richness
I'm a Vietnamses-American born and raised in Hawaii. Ever since I started watching Geo Now, this is the episode I've always been enthusiastic about, and boy, you did not disappoint. Thank you for making these videos to educate us about the world and our own country. You are a blessing to America. Can't wait for the Vietnam episode.
Florida man here!!! Loved the episode. I love how diverse our nation is. And I love being a proud American, and specifically a proud Black-American! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
As a Taiwanese person, I am constantly amazed by the significant influence that a country so distant from Taiwan can have on its affairs. The United States has played a pivotal role in shaping Taiwan's contemporary history and has had a profound impact on the world as I know it. Beyond the realm of politics, my personal connections further exemplify this strong link between Taiwan and the USA. I have family members who have lived in the United States, numerous friends and acquaintances studying there, and I also have some American coworkers that works with me in Taiwan. It is truly remarkable to witness the deep connections between Taiwan and the United States, a connection that extends beyond Taiwan and can be seen in the stories of countless nations around the globe. happy 4th or July !!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Some people think that this series will end with Zimbabwe, but I distinctly recall remember Paul saying that Taiwan will be discussed at some point after Zimbabwe. I grew up in Fresh Meadows, Queens, and my best friend in sixth grade was Taiwanese; his name was Chun-Che. Looking forward to the Taiwanese episode, God willing.
I’m from Iraq and I’ve been living in the US for 15 years. I came here in 2008 so 5 years after the war. It’s very unique place with unique people. You can call it home because you can be yourself and always be accepted.
It took me weeks to get through this but I loved it all. Now I'm rewatching the intro segment and, for some reason, tearing up. You've done something quite incredible here. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.
As a Canadian part of our identity is based around "not being American". But that's just nationalist BS. For all of its problems, the USA is such an incredibly accomplished country 🎉. Best wishes to the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" from up here in the "True North Strong and Free".
We share pretty much everything. The good and bad. And that's fine. If America does shitty politics, well we also have shitty politics. Except Vietnam and Iraq. Not joining those wars was the right decision. But in terms of being next to a country, it's probably the best agreement there is. Nobody will touch this continent and we're protected. There's no more of a secure continent than North America from any sort of foreign invasion.
The US is not a perfect country (by far), but is still my home. One of my favorite things about it is that eventhough I'm only a second generation immigrant, I feel just as American as everyone else.
I was born and raised here in the U.S. but I’ve still never felt like it’s a home. I’ve never been able to get on board with all the over-the-top patriotism and it’s hard for me to relate to anybody talking about what an American is. Does anybody else experience this? I just really want to move somewhere else if I ever get the chance.
This is definitely one of the best videos of the USA I have ever seen. Thank you Barbs and the Geography Now crew for making this for us, Happy Independence Day, and continue making the world closer together.
Fun fact, Americans are proud of literally everything: Country, State, County, Region, College, High School, Sports Teams, did I mention sports teams, Eye color, backyard, you name it
I'm a proud Canadian, but if Canada is my home, the U.S. is like my grandmother's house I love to go to whenever I can. I've lived in the U.S., I have close relatives living there, I've been to about 17 U.S. states and D.C. I have a deep soft spot for this country and I hope Canada and the United States keep having a peaceful and beneficial relationship. Also, I've watched your channel for years. I was looking forward to this episode and you didn't disappoint. :)
This video has given me anxiety for 9 months in my Watch Later list, but I gotta say, as messed up as we can be at times, there's nowhere else I'd rather be... Greetings from Alaska!
A Hoosier(indiana) here, I just appreciate and am in awe of the community Paul and co. has and will continue to make, they are the best spokespersons of our country.
@@ryankayombya7576 Fellow Hoosier here! There is a lot of dispute as to where the term Hoosier comes from. There are some accounts of it being used as a synonym for Hick or Fieldworker, basically just a derogatory term for farmers since Indiana has some of the most fertile land due to the glacial movement in the last ice age that gave us the great lakes. I have also heard that Hoosier was slang in England for "mountain people" or "people from the hills" which makes sense for the soutern half of Indiana which is topographically distinct from the upper half for the amount of hills. Hope this answered your question.
The best summary that I’ve heard of what it means to be an American was from a man who had immigrated from the USSR. When he was little, back in Latvia, his father kept illegal copies of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights under the floorboards in their home to hide them from searches. He said he would ask his father why they were reading these things and his dad said: “Don’t you understand? This is what we believe. We ARE Americans. We were just born in the wrong place. My job as your father is to get you home.” America is a country built on ideas, not ethnicities.
This episode is so American and got me teary eyed. So proud to be an American!!! I immigrated to the U.S. (from the Philippines) when I was 9 years old and became a full-fledged American Citizen (I am not dual-citizen) - lived in California for 5 years, then moved and lived in State of Washington ever since (thank you for letting a Washingtonian-rep be part of this video and mentioning Seattle-emerald city! Also, go University of Washington Huskies!). In my 27 years in the U.S. - I am always learning and, we, Americans may have our differences - but we love each other no matter what! Just a few months ago, I took a road trip by myself from Seattle, all the way to Bakersfield, California - there was a moment, that I cried a few times, because of how beautiful America and its people are - I was afraid that since I was by myself and as a minority I would get mistreated - but nope! All the way, they greeted me a warm "hello" and when I ask a question of where places (cause sometimes, GPS gets you on the wrong direction or I am just confused, lol!) to be they just pointed me to the right destination and even recommended a few good restaurants to try out. I've experienced a fair share of racism towards me in my years living in the U.S. but I never let that experience get me down about the U.S., there are genuine Americans who loves you back - I always see the positive and good things about my country and that itself makes you believe that, no matter what, I am a proud American and living my own American dream! My retirement plan will not be visiting other countries - it will be visiting all states and territories of the United States! USA!!!!!! XD
I'm from Pakistan and have been a follower for so many yrs now. There's not a lot of channels on TH-cam that can claim to never MISS, and GeographyNow is definitely one of them. Having so many amazing videos incl. the 🇵🇰 episode, this is hands down the most info-taining episode on this channel. USA has soooo much to talk about and I'm sure there must be a ton of stuff you didn't even talk about. It was fun to learn!
It was SO fun to learn! I am American and I learned *so much* from this episode too. I also think he captured our spirit and values really well ! God bless you over there in Pakistan 😁🙏
@@Jess-737 I'd love to visit some day, hopefully soon. Eventhough we consume a lot of US content from Hollywood to Music, Games, Sports and Politics but I'm sure there must be so much more to explore than what we are able to see on our screens. Heck all of my 7 yrs of professional experience has been companies associated with US as well lol.
Fun fact, Colorado is also known as ‘the centennial state’ due to its founding being 100 years after the USA’s founding. And Denver is also known as the mile high city due to its altitude is a mile above sea level.
Literally got teary eyed at the scene with your momma and you holding up our American flag 🥲just knowing she so embraces her new homeland and came here to provide you with the life you've dreamed for yourself is so touching and heart-warming!!!
That's cool because I'm an American who wants to go to India someday and experience its geographic diversity. I also want to go to Nepal and Bangladesh, the latter mostly because my best friend is from there.
@@meowtherainbowx4163would love to have you here as our lovely guest just a suggestion a lot of tourists in order to go full indian tries really cheap hotel and food (which even the middle class indian would mostly avoid) and ends up having terrible diarrhoea or getting scammed Must visit state of rajasthan (it's like indian Texas) for it's beautiful architecture and forts
I'm Norwegian and was over a few months for study in Washington state. It was perpetual summer and in the middle of the suburbian desert, but it was beautiful to witness the blossom tree flower, and visit Olympia, Seattle, rural places and small towns. Mount Rainier was often seen. Afterward, I was a few days in Alaska. Love Alaska. It feels like Norway's long lost brother. It is uncanny how familiar Alaskan cuisine and landscape feels like. I have relatives in both states. I love that regardless if they are many degrees out in the family tree, they can still be refered to as cousins. Happy 4th of July!
I’m in Montana, around 15% of our state’s population is Scandinavians. Our mountains and glaciers are reminiscent of Norwegian snow-capped mountains and fjords.
I'm an American, America has a lot of problems but I'm glad I was born here! :D How does this video not have a million views yet? This is the big video we all were waiting for! :D I'm an American who doesn't drive a car, I don't have a drivers licence. I wish our cities were more like European cities, but at least the public transportation on the east coast of the United States is existent. Cars tend to go over the speed limit, people somehow think yellow lights mean go faster, cars always block the crosswalks, as well as a few other car issues, but oh well. Politics are a mess here, but most Americans are pretty nice! Some Americans aren't nice, but most of us are! :D
As a Canadian, this is what I have been waiting for for years. We may talk crap about each other sometimes, but at the end of the day, I look at Americans not very differently than Canadians. The internet and playing any online game on North American (USA/CA) Servers made that even more clear. More than half of my online friends I've made over the years are American.
I spent my childhood between Montana, Alberta, and the Dakotas. The people are so similar. Serious plainsman and women, endlessly kind, courteous to a fault. Can't ask for a better neighbor.
France may have their tradition of fine culinary arts, Spaniards have their late dinners, South Africans and Argentines have their barbecue traditions, Brits have their cheeky Nando's, Scandinavians ferment fish for some reason, Australians just put things on toast... but America has what is uniquely American.
It's even better to live it and do it with friends :D For my experience it was usually at a Taco Cabana after 2am in the parking lot shared by it and the local arcade.
Thanks barb this brought tears to my eyes. I was not born in America I am native of Brazil. Me and my sister were adopted by American parents from Houston Texas in 1996. As kid growing up in an orphanage i we dreamed of life in America. My dream came true at the age of 9 and my sister was 7. I am a USA citizen I am proud to call her my home. Despite our differences and no our nation is not perfect but we are young. I love her and the people. We are family and I will lay my life down for my family and our glorious country. I am also a proud Texan go long horns.
I thought this would be my favorite episode and I was right, I loved the entire hour and five minute video, thank you for this series, I liked geography a lot before this but I now love geography with a passion today, thank you so much Barbs ❤
Even though this was the longest GN episode ever, it really didn't feel like it because it was super engaging from start to finish. It was really cool to finally see the USA episode after all these years (I've been watching since around the E or F countries). This is IMO probably the best GN episode ever. Greetings from a fellow American from South Carolina, and happy 4th, Barbs! 🇺🇲🦅
Not gonna lie, I got a little emotional watching this episode. I'm so happy I sent in a video and got to be a part of it! I just wanted to shout out my home city of Tampa. Most people think of Miami when they think of Cuban culture, but Ybor city is also worth checking out. There's some pretty interesting history there. In general, I love my home state and everything we have to offer here. Us Floridians are wild and we do not apologize for it! Happy fourth everyone! 🇺🇸
I'm almost about to cry, even for the few scenes in the beginning. I'm a huge fan of this channel, which has the most amazing geography video series I've watched so far. These videos just demonstrate how enthusiastic Barbs and his team is, and what the true American spirit is. God bless you!
After you finish with the countries of the world you should do separate, in-depth videos for each of the U.S. states. I know you did an "in-between" episode of all the states a little while back but I'd love to see each state get its own video. :)
@@italiansoutherner A Bozometer may be used to indicate Bozo levels. In this case, the comment above has been repeated so many times, it now registers on the Bozometer. Also, one should understand the main function of the Bozometer is to evaluate any given person's appearance in a photograph.
@@modaljazz59 Ah, okay. Regardless, there is so much more that can be said about the 50 U.S. states (even the smaller states like Vermont and Wyoming) that one could easily make an at least 10-minute video about each. If Barbs doesn’t want to do videos about the states, tho, that’s his choice.
@@italiansoutherner I agree. Understand this has been voiced 100s, maybe 1000s of times already in the past 10 years of this channel. Not only for US states, but for new videos for the first, early videos that only have 10 minutes, compared to the recent ones with ~30min. All that stuff would be great, but Barbs has really been doing this on his own and obviously one person has a limited amount of time. I myself suggested a dozen times over the years to being on an assistant or another way to get more help, maybe assistant lead host. That said, they last year has seen Barbs branching out and trying new things but his videos (i.e.: Letters to...) and I think we should support him in his direction, as we have so far, and stay tuned! And of course, make your own videos! 👍💯😃🎶
Being such a young country and having such a great global impact is pretty inpressive. Just imagine how much USA shaped our modern world, through technology, science, entertainment, food, economy. As outsiders we like to joke about the US but that's proof that this culture is well known all around the world, and no another country has achieved that in such a big scale. Grettings from Greece and hopefully I will visit your country one day, especially the national parks since I'm a big hiking and nature enthusiast.
You can’t emphasize the young part enough. Three generations of people are enough to go back to the revolution. A revolutionary soldier alive at the same time as a civil war soldier, a civil war soldier being alive at the same time as a WW2 soldier, and a WW2 soldier still being alive today. It’s amazing isn’t it?
I feel like people don't understand the extent of this. Just in terms of music the US INVENTED blues, rock and roll, jazz, soul, r&b, funk, gospel, hip hop, trap, and country.
BARBS!! I’ve been waiting like 8 years for this episode… I couldn’t be happier 😆 - Nearly brought tears to my eyes actually… Our diversity, ingenuity, uniqueness and drive have made the American experiment so beautiful. - It’s hard to step away from the realities of everyday life but Jeez when you step back it’s truly beautiful:)
I literally could not think of a more appropriate day to post this on. As an American, this whole episode just makes me indescribably happy to be one of the many. We may have diverse opinions, attitudes, and cultural traits, but at the end of the day, we are ALL Americans. Cheers to those who live in the land of the free on this 4th of July. And to Paul, I think this is your Magnum Opus.
I’m a Mexican with tons of American friends and relatives and even if they can be a little rough around the edges no one can deny they’re some of the best human beings on earth
As a first generation from Guatemala 🇬🇹 It’s feels good to live in a country where opportunity is never enough 😅 God Bless Los Estados Unidos 🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 and thanks Barbs for this amazing information !!! I still have lots to learn ❤
Why would you love US after what they did to your country. You do relize that the US supported a dictator that killed 2 million innocent Guatemalans. The US ruined your country
This channel is a fantastic example of perseverance, team work, dedication, and humility. Its very easy to feel complacency and apathy living in this country, given all the division and vitriol one might see on the surface. But underneath it all you find people like Barbs who follows a passion and figures out a way to leverage their unique individualism and contributes to the collective good. I don't know you Barbs, but you seem like a great friend, entrepreneur, and son, so cheers to that. Thanks for reminding me of my potential
One can potentially debate whether or not it's the best, but there is no doubt that it is certainly NOT the worst.....not by a longshot.....not even close. I am in a position in life that I never though possible for me to achieve, and it is thanks to the opportunities provided within the USA.
As an American with Filipino roots and leaning more towards the Filipino side of his ethnic heritage than any of the European sides, thank you very much.
I was born right across the border in Mexico but raised on this side all my life. I love Vicente Fernandez and George straight equally. But make no mistake about it my loyalty and heart belongs to the United States of America.
Be proud of your Mexican and American heritage. I know a lot of Americans are unnecessarily cruel, but many of us aren’t and love all people, including you ❤
I couldn't agree more. Every time I meet a new "type" of person I go out of my way to understand them and for them to understand me. My conclusion is that all people are basically good if they try to understand each other.
I am so proud to be a US citizen. For all the ups and downs of the US, I still would not want to live any other place in the world. This country is so diverse and large. I think most US citizens have some sort of love/hate relationship with the country itself. I like your comment about all of us being family and this is true. We still have a lot to learn from each other. I am not sure how the world would have been at this point in history without the United States.
Thank you for including the section on "What is an American". In a country where the media makes seem so divided, it was great to see real Americans talking about what their country is and what it means to them. Sometimes we forget about the "united" part of being an American. Thank you.
Couldn’t agree more and well-said 🇺🇸 Unfortunately the politics of divisiveness has proven a money-maker and attention-getter in the US for many unsavory individuals, so it’s important that we all take a moment to remember why we are one country and what we all share in common 🇺🇸
We are divided. We aren’t very united if people want to take away the ability of people to do things that they should be able to choose whether they want to do them or not. We aren’t very united if people kill each other simply for being different.
American is ill-defined which is both positive and negative. On one hand it allows anyone to become American, on other hand it leads to ambiguous national identity and lack of pride
I very rarely meet someone who I disagree with to the point where we refuse to interact with each other. Americans are sooo diverse and different, but we all share the attitude of forming a "more perfect union."
as a brit, i've always had a lot of scepticism towards the US, but this video really gave me a new perspective, and now i really appreciate my trans-atlantic neighbours a lot more! 🇬🇧❤🇺🇸
I definitely felt that skepticism when I lived in the UK for a year. It was an uphill battle making friends with Londoners. They immediately assumed I was dumb, arrogant, brash, and extremist. I am none of those things tho. Anyway, I think Barbs really captured the sentiment of the US in this video (the positivity, diversity, & friendliness). I am glad you felt it too. I would love for all Brits to see a video like this before meeting Americans like me because it would make things a lot easier for us. Thanks for keeping an open mind about us :)
@@fs5775 Won't lie, us Brits can be pretty negative about you Americans; But I think that's more to do with us being more pessimistic in-comparison to your optimism. You guys are cool and a lot of my friends are from the US
I loved the recognition of the First Nations and the brief touching on the tumultuous past we have had. Also great job on not ignoring sensitive topics and handling them diplomatically. I actually got teary-eyed when i saw all the island territories and First Nations being acknowledged.
I can’t believe we’re here, I’m an American 🇺🇸 who’s been following your channel since the Croatian episode and we made it! The US! Thank you so much for this amazing ride!
1:00:50 That's why Brazil deserves as remake. Such a complex nation needs a more complex, comprehensive, representative and accurate episode than the one it currently has.
Same can be said for a lot of his videos on big complex countries, like China, Australia, Canada, etc I’m curious to see what he does once he reaches the end of the alphabet
As an emotionally stunted Brit I can safely say the most friendly, gregarious and excited people I've ever met on my travels are American. That has to say something
Great video Barbs! First Generation American and USMC veteran here. This video struck a nerve and you put things into great perspective and excellent commentary. Thanks for always putting out great content for me and my kids!
As a metalhead, most of my praise has to go to Finland and Sweden given that I love melodic death above all else. However, my journey into that music started out in Alternative Rock & Metal, so I definitely have to thank my home country, the USA, for that content at the very least.
It seems it's a very emotional episode for Barbs. This is the most patriotic american video I have ever seen and I respect your emotions. Everything you said about american dream, achievements, values are all true and wish my country could learn from it. I have usually seen americans mostly just complain about america but it is important to acknowledge good things which are way more than americans think.
The whole speech at around 31:00 is probably the best and most accurate description of the common denominator describing Americans I have ever heard! Very well said.

Hi 30 seconds ago
Happy 4th of July!
FINALLY!!!!!
I can't believe barbs flew all the way to the United States just to record this video, what a dedicated guy.
How did he uncover so much information about such a large and complex country? He must've done a lifetime worth of research!
It's such an isolated country! Who would've thought it would be easy to travel and document that place?
@@Zylork0122 I know right! Tbh I'm surprised it even managed to survive when it's so small and weak. A miracle ✨️🙌
technically, he would still have to fy ALL OVER the US... that is a HUGE task. I've driven across the US coast to coast 5 times... and up each coast around 10 times. I have lived in 10 different states and visited as many places as possible... I have still not seen most of the thing in the US.
Very good
Wow I’m impressed they found real Americans to include in the video, respect
Imagine how many of them could have been Canadians...
lol
Barbs......... The US does use the metric system........... It's not just limited to science, but that's who use it mostly. We have 2 official systems of measurement.
@@Slowdowndummy yeah.... they use 9mm all the time at schools huh
yeah, i coulda sworn we had all shot each other by now.
Americans must be very happy when their relatively unknown country finally gets the recognition.
Actually, we are sitting here waiting for our states to be mentioned. Haven't heard Pennsylvania yet!
Actually I almost skipped this one because of fear from the back lash, negativity and over all crap that might be found in this comment section.
@@laurahildebrand7023True. Hoes do be mad about America existing
@@dillonakaeduardo1732 Pennsylvania? Is that some kind of geological era?
yes we get mistaken for Canada all the time when traveling abroad lol
Honestly, it sincerely warms my heart to finally see someone not just mindlessly dunk on my country but actually praise it and remind us all why our country is so great. Yes, we are far from a perfect nation, any American will admit that, but we are still a great and influential nation that has brought many excellent things into this world, and more than anything else, it's home, and I think it's only fair to have a place in your heart for home.
As a european i totally agree. USA is great and unfortunately the younger generations of "americans" tend to forget it
I'll have to admit it, as fun as it is to dunk on America, it's always soothing to just appreciate how amazing the United States of America genuinely is. It's not perfect country, it's far from a perfect friend, but it's the friend you can't abandon.
Yeah us and UK brought so much peace into the world right? @@Kouroupettos243
The Uk agrees as long as you don't say you won WW1/WW2 and claim every invention of ours was yours!
There are more than 6000 national parks across the world, 424 of which are located in the US, all beginning with Yellowstone National Park in 1872.
agreed. we do an amazing job with national parks.
The National parks are one of the best things about this country. Especially those in Cali imo.
I remember a while back the National Parks Service used the slogan "America's Best Idea" and you know what? They might be right.

I love how this episode captured how different and diverse Americans may be in attitudes and opinions, but still emphasizes that we’re Americans at the end of the day 🇺🇸
Well said!
America is a continent & an American is from the Continent of America!
It was a surprisingly fast-paced video for a 1 hour episode. This is a love letter for America. So patriotic, but well grounded and down to earth. Congrats! Really loved your video.
As a Moroccan-American, thank you for adding Morocco was the first country to recognize American independence!
🇺🇸❤️🇲🇦
I had no idea, might have something to do with our fight with the Barbary pirates, respect to Morocco
We love you guys! Love from USA 😁
Chiang Kai Shek was a military dictator. Also if it was so "free", then why was the Taiwan Communist Party banned for decades?

Ooh, I'd love to see the states of India get their own flags!
Yeah, in America you can dox someone in under 10 minutes with entirely legally available documents
I am a history student (non academic) and I must agree with this that most part of Indian history is so poorly documented.

As depressing as it can be witnessing a lot of the divisions and animosities and changes happening in America, this really put into perspective a lot of the awesome beautiful things that exemplify what being an American is about. Thanks for reminding me why I love being an American 🇺🇸
Well-said!
America is a *huge* continent. Plus, an American is from the Continent of America!
From a 6 minute video on Afghanistan to a 1 hr 5 min special on the US, great to see the channel grow along the way like this
Man, I remember those days.
Still blows my mind that Afghanistan’s video was just 6 mins

Independence from China.
My job as your father is to get you home.”
America is a country built on ideas, not ethnicities.
WOW. That story just brought tears to my eyes! Thank you for sharing that !!!
WOW! Nice storyline. There are always the craziest among the crazy pep. Sounds like one of those stories. A lovely one nonetheless. Cheers!

USA!!!!!! XD

I'm an American, America has a lot of problems but I'm glad I was born here! :D
How does this video not have a million views yet? This is the big video we all were waiting for! :D
I'm an American who doesn't drive a car, I don't have a drivers licence.
@@bschrdr07 right? what i love about america, above the other things, is how genuine the people are. i couldn't ask for anything more.
To be fair....... Letterkenny is hilarious..... you degen!
You are our brother country ❤
I'm fairly certain most americans basically just look at canada as the unofficial 51st state lmao. Our culture is 95% the same
That sitting alone with taco bell in the parking lot at 3 am was the most American scenario I've ever witnessed. True poetry

Or those two girls who went viral sharing a dozen rolls with cinnamon butter from Texas Roadhouse in their car ✊ 🇺🇸

Luck you
I'm almost about to cry, even for the few scenes in the beginning.
Use your Bozometer.
@@modaljazz59 ?
A truly great episode! Happy Independence Day! Greetings from Bulgaria (I am Bulgarian) and my Romanian wife!
Pretty sure the WW1 and WW2 contributed to this highly
I feel like people don't understand the extent of this. Just in terms of music the US INVENTED blues, rock and roll, jazz, soul, r&b, funk, gospel, hip hop, trap, and country.
Thank you for the dedicating video. This motivates me to work harder on my American dream and striving to become a member of the big U.S.A family.
Best of luck. We will be waiting for you

It is !! I teared up several times watching this episode!
we are so lucky❤️😭
I literally could not think of a more appropriate day to post this on. As an American, this whole episode just makes me indescribably happy to be one of the many. We may have diverse opinions, attitudes, and cultural traits, but at the end of the day, we are ALL Americans. Cheers to those who live in the land of the free on this 4th of July.

As an American who knows what our government has done and still does to your country and its people I don't think you should be blessing us lmao

This is a beautiful masterpiece, Barbs, and on July 4th nonetheless. You’ve really outdone yourself here. America FTW! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Long live our nation 🇺🇸❤ much love from Arkansas
This channel is a fantastic example of perseverance, team work, dedication, and humility. Its very easy to feel complacency and apathy living in this country, given all the division and vitriol one might see on the surface. But underneath it all you find people like Barbs who follows a passion and figures out a way to leverage their unique individualism and contributes to the collective good. I don't know you Barbs, but you seem like a great friend, entrepreneur, and son, so cheers to that. Thanks for reminding me of my potential
Yeah, he definitely represents the best of us, we are so lucky to have him share our story with the world!
One can potentially debate whether or not it's the best, but there is no doubt that it is certainly NOT the worst.....not by a longshot.....not even close. I am in a position in life that I never though possible for me to achieve, and it is thanks to the opportunities provided within the USA.

Thank you.
Couldn’t agree more and well-said 🇺🇸
Unfortunately the politics of divisiveness has proven a money-maker and attention-getter in the US for many unsavory individuals, so it’s important that we all take a moment to remember why we are one country and what we all share in common 🇺🇸
We are divided. We aren’t very united if people want to take away the ability of people to do things that they should be able to choose whether they want to do them or not.
We aren’t very united if people kill each other simply for being different.
@@Sam-pv7bd There's enough negativity in the world, can't we look at the positives for this one video?

As a metalhead, most of my praise has to go to Finland and Sweden given that I love melodic death above all else. However, my journey into that music started out in Alternative Rock & Metal, so I definitely have to thank my home country, the USA, for that content at the very least.
