Great tutorial! Love that there is finally someone teaching hard surface modeling in houdini. Keep it up, will definitely be checking in our your channel going forward!
Thanks, man! I have just realized how useful is polydraw node could be not only for retopo but for classic modeling and adjusting the procedural mesh! You definitely made my day! Cool!
Very nice workflow. Using a tablet, 3D mouse and programmable keypad to access shortcuts. It saves having to change hotkeys, just record the default hotkeys to a key on the pad.
This is may be the first time I've seen Houdini hard surface modeling explained so clearly - thank you! One issue I have is that when I try to select a partial edge loop following your example... select edge, MMB to release poly draw [shift]+A to get desired edge loop ... I get the edge loop as you do, but then translating that into a poly draw edge fails. I fail to extrude a new edge - either I move the original edge or I only polydraw one of its component edges - i.e. the edge selection was lost. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Any thoughts? Thanks again for a great tutorial. Even if I have to do this using single edges, I'm going to work on this method - it looks so useful! Tim
Thanks. That made me feel way better about modeling in Houdini :D Any chance you could do a video on UV'ing the model? Maybe even UV'ing in a more standard manual way instead of procedurally?
Press D on the viewport and go under the background, you will see all the perspective views, point them to images. make sure to uncheck the autoplace image box.
huh, i thought i linked the image. any way i added a drive link with reference pictures from other tutorials too. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WgU1hJfh8YjTPa2pET8gXl4NqbT8tuAR?usp=sharing
Ultimate hard surface modeling. If u need to learn it, this video is the perfect way to start!

thanks! I'm rendering out another tutorial on hard surface stuff. lots of small details and tricks in it!

good to find your channel 👍
Really good tutorial, thanks. No bs, very clear, no wasted time.

Awesome!! Thank you so much for uploading this!
Very useful. Helps me making the transition from Softimage finally ;)
Awesome, love it. Super content you are doing here. This will help me alot . Thank You so much
Thank You very much!

Thanks for lecture - can we use hybride method? Direct and propcedural modelung togather?
Thanks. That made me feel way better about modeling in Houdini :D

I do have a 2 part video on unwrapping weapon model. Also with cool stuff like rounded edge shader baking.
@@viktors_anfimovs Oh perfect! This is great stuff. Houdini modeling is so underrepresented.
great, tkx
How can i create reference image inside houdini ?
Press key D when hovering over Viewport and go to the Background tab. There will be options for every view to point to the image on the disc.
@@viktors_anfimovs thank you
Could you please show/describe how ho set up and configure blueprint in Houdini?
Press D on the viewport and go under the background, you will see all the perspective views, point them to images. make sure to uncheck the autoplace image box.
