Top Ten Pinball Games for the Game Boy

- Pinball was one of my favorite games for the Game Boy family of systems. Which Pinball? All of them! Well, maybe not all, but there was a great variety of pinballs games on the original Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance, and I want to cover my favorites across the near 20 years of options. We’ve seen a flurry of original concepts for pinball, along with licensing famous properties to bring them to the virtual pinball table. AT from Software Agents TV joins me in this one to look at the dozens of pinball options. He also captures all the footage on the original cartridges of each game using a Super Game Boy or Game Boy Player.

Pokemon Pinball is fun and nerve-wracking at the exact same time.
I'm a little bit sensitive about a few clips and some popped "p" but this was a fun collaboration and it was great to finally see it.
I miss AT. He used to be in so many of the videos and I think he is my favorite guest host.
AT is always great at researching for videos he cohosts in and he's always welcome back! I know he's been busy with his channel (Software Agents TV), which is great since I like the work he puts into any video he's in, whether it's on my channel or his. I'm not a part of his channel's content, so I don't know everything they're doing, but I know that's sapped a lot of his time. Still, when he gets the time, we'll get another collab going.

great, underrated video, one of your best. My older bro loves Pinball of the Dead (the Sega pinball GBA game) and the Pokemon Pinballs plus Kirby's Pinball land were childhood faves. Mario Pinball Land is dull as dishwater but all of the gameplay clips looked good. shoutouts to the boy. I liked the crossover between your guys' content and the live action pinball clips.

I actually have Kirby pinball and revenge of the Gators on my 3DS, along with a bunch of other pinball games. Speaking of the 3DS and pinball, you should do a list on the top 10 on the 3DS and DS families of systems.
Also, I would love to see a top 10 list on the breakout games.

I always enjoy a Good Pinball Game, it's like how every Glorified Jobber Character in Fighting Games where they get Washed many times from Left, Right and Center.
I appreciate your video that you and Andre worked on. I played the real pinball again recently these past two months. I have to say, Game Boy Brick and Color versions of pinball are not accurate to the real Esepcially Pokemon Pinball (Game Boy Color) which is nonsense for kids who dont know better. same thing with Mario Pinball. A Pinball game if it's real life or a video, should be about skill,not a casino.. that's why I hate pinball games when the ball falls down instantly and you don't have a chance to play anything. so I like the controls and feel of Pokemon Pinball Advanced better than Pokemon Pinball GBC because you have at least a chance without tilting the function. Muppet pinball Advance is underrated but undercooked as well. it's doughy a little bit.
It was obvious pokemon pintball would win this one, it's just great and the Pokemon company should have done another one for the DS or 3DS, even now they should make one.
But i am really surprised about the muppets one, i wish someone told me it existed before, also i like the pintball of the death one but it might need a better engine to feel more smooth.
Did you use color correction on some of the Pokemon Pinball GBC clips? I don't remember Dugtrio ever lookin that yellow.
speaking of Pokemon Pinball GBC... it can be frustrating sometimes. it was chill when I was 9 but sometimes broke my heart. what annoyed me the most about the game is that on the Red table, you need to shoot the Bellsprout to start Catch Pokemon mode but it's like impossible to be precise, so, most of the time you're manipulating the lights to hope for a Cave shot and start catch Pokemon mode.
and another big mechanic of the game is the "Map Move" so that you can catch legendary Pokemon and eventually get to indigo Pleateau, but it's REALLY hard to pull off consistently because the Poliwag or Psyduck or Diglett you have to hit are in annoying locations and you have to do it 3 times in a row and you only have 30 seconds to go in the right lane AND THEN make the cave shot?? WHAT! @___@ it's too much, Nintendo... why are you so cruel?
AT was messing with the colors, mostly because he was just having fun with the color changing settings on the Super Game Boy. Though, he might have done something specific before he sent the footage to me.
And yes! I have many stories like that where I would try to cheese the mechanics to hit the ball int he right spot, even though it didn't work the same way every time.

I prefer the Pokemon pinball for GBA than the GBC. The ball mechanics are much better in my opinion.
GBC one is bad, everyone is blinded by nostalgia.

Another fine list, MrTopTenList! I actually remembered spending hours on 3D Space Pinball! I think the Pinball I remembered the most in Pokemon Pinball for the GBA, especially the commercial where poor Treeko got pushed in to be the next ball. XD
Sorry it took me so long to sit down and watch the video in-full but... you all did such a great job with this one. I am loving the pinball arcade heyday nostalgia and comparisons of real world pinball tables to the Game Boy versions.
why did you say that NES Pinball doesnt count but added it later on the list?
I never said it didn't count. I specifically said in the intro that ports of console games count.

He just said NES Pinball didn't count as a Mario Pinball game, not a Game Boy Pinball game. That comment was to acknowledge that Mario was in a previous Pinball game before Mario Pinball Land, but we don't consider that to be a "Mario Pinball" game

It's always possible! I love pinball and AT is good at tracking down a lot of the more obscure games

Were those pinball games at the begining modern? The real pinball, not the video games.
It was modern footage, but a lot of them are older tables, which AT and friends got at a recent Arcade Expo. That being said, there are modern pinball tables that they played, like one based on the Mandalorian, which they have footage of on their channel
I love Pokémon and I love Pinball. Pokémon Pinball is one of my favorite Pokémon games. In the retro game stores near me they still have Pinball machines. Cool video. ^_^

That's very unfortunate, and it's likely because this video doesn't relate to topics I normally talk about, so it gets shared around less. Not sure what more I can do, but it's a shame that videos on topics that are lesser discussed on my channel get repressed from what I've seen.

Cool list, I hadn’t heard of some of these like muppets, little mermaid and sonic. I’ve been getting back into video pinball and picked up revenge of the Gator, pinball dreams, Kirby and Pinball of The Dead. ( arrives this week. )
You’re right it reminds me of devils crush as well. While we’re on the crush series, I almost had Jaki Crush CIB for a great price then got distracted and the auction got away from me. 😢
Back to Gameboy titles: I may need to get the NES pinball as well, I’m almost positive I had it as a kid on the nes.
As for the games I own, I think Kirby is the best feel-wise, Gator is very high quality and pinball dreams may have the best music. Really looking forward to pinball of the dead. It looks so ridiculous just like a HOTD title should.
how did you do the research for this video and the recent arcade Expo videos, anyway?
For this video, about half of these were childhood favorites. I reached out to the guys at Software Agents TV about the idea since they are game collectors and knew some obscure classics, like the Muppets or Gator one. Then it's all up to whatever is archived about the game from previous interviews when it came out or any other articles, along with our own knowledge. For the arcade expo video, I don't know since I'm not a part of Software Agents team. I've only been in a few episodes when invited, so ask them about the expo video since they likely have some interesting facts about it. It's also good to see them get support! I only knew about their pinball videos once AT let me know when I told him I had a pinball idea for my channel. It was a coincidence that we both had pinball videos going on behind the scenes.

So good to see love for video pinball. It's not easy to make me roll my eyes but the dismissal of this genre is one of the few things that does it :). The sonic spinball comments were on point. I do have soft spot for that game for the few positives you pointed out

I haven't played it for over a decade not counting forced ones in Sonic games.
I used to be addicted to that as a child before getting into Pokemon. I don't like Pinball with other shows or games being crossed over. I don't play Mario to play Pinball or vice versa. btw, Nintendo, where is Mario Ballet teased in E3 once.
I think revenge of the gator is one of the few games where the player is the villain,since the gator at the bottom is only fighting back outta self defense

Any video with Software Agents is a crossover technically, but yes, we did plan for my pinball video and his pinball video to be released around the same time

Isn't Canada part of North America?
But it is not part of the U.S.
Canada is part of North America and Targets are only in the U.S. Sega had a deal that the only North American distributor of the game was Target, which was only in the U.S., so there was no outlet in Canada or Mexico to sell the game, so Canada never had a retailer to buy the game when the game was originally released.
@@MrTopTenList yeah but you sayed at the end that the only way to buy the game was in north america wich doas include canada but since canada doasn't have Targets that means that you couldn't buy it in all of North america.

That's is very disappointing to hear. We don't delete comments that aren't just pure spam and we've been experiencing this issue with TH-cam's automated system deleting comments it thinks are "spam" for the past few years. The comments don't even show up in my spam filter. The system generally identifies key words and will randomly delete comments with those words in it. In a recent video where I discussed that video game "Rampage," a bunch of comments were deleted automatically when the word "rampage" was in them (in reference to that part of the video) since TH-cam views that as a "violent" word, for example. If you ever see your comment deleted, please leave it again (possibly with an alteration so TH-cam doesn't identify it as spam). It's frustrating when this happens since comments on videos positively affect the TH-cam algorithm and when they're automatically deleted, it's bad for both the content creator and the viewer. Regardless, leave the comment again and I hope you enjoyed the video!

I disagree. Hollywood Pinball was probably one of the best GB pinball games. You had tables based on movie themes. So you had a Shark one (loosely based on Jaws), a Pteradctyl themed table (based around monster movies), and a horror themed table (loosely based on Psycho) and I am sure there was another one I am forgetting...and the sound was good.
One of the people who we consulted for this video suggested that game, but it didn't make our cut. We did consider it at one point ,though! -- A.T.
Maybe next time you should do a Top Ten Typing Games.
