    I work for Scotsman. Haven’t seen an old cme style ice machine for a while. You did a great job cleaning the machine. Some of the evaporators are tin or nickel plated.

      Thanks Mr. Richi, that's real important on a Hoshizaki because the water can leak outbecause of how the pump system works with the check valve and it's never a bad thing to do, on this machine it doesn't have a dump valve solenoid, it literally overfills the water trough to purge the water out. I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. See you tonight at 8:30 if you like for the live show 👍👍

    Dollar stores have a clr type which is an acid for calcium, hard deposits, best bang for buck 32oz and it works. But food grade is a whole different story of course. That intro exit song always reminds me of a truck diesel turbo at the end.

  • @TheLenaweeTrekker
    @TheLenaweeTrekker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yeah, the old Scotsman cubers count the ice on the first batch. So the first cycle is longer. The second cycle is supposed to end at the time the machine saw the last piece of ice fall. At the seminars for those machines, Scotsman told us that we might not see the bin light flash, but the machine does see every piece of ice that falls.
    The biggest problem I had with these machines were the optical sensors when the machine was installed and used well water. The bin sensor would get covered over in a few weeks. Plus, the machine was next to the empty beer bottles.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any yeast in the air from breads or beers will help form the nastiest of slimy looking mold. Pizza places and sub stores are the worst. What I'll do is pull the sensors out and lay them in the bottom tray to soak while the cleaner is circulating. If the water is real bad, like with "well" water with rust..... That is the worst to clean up. Thanks 4 the feedback and watching 👍👍

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have three different types of condensers available. Air-cooled self-contained at the machine, remote condenser, water-cooled condenser. Generally they are rated for pounds of ice for 24 hours. The btu would need to be looked up in the book and they come in all different shapes and sizes.

      How many cycles is 30 minutes I have to clean one out soon ?🤔

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This particular model does not have a dump valve like some ice machines do. The way it works is when you hit the cleaning button the second time it will start flashing the clean led, this will cause the machine to add water until it overflows that little tube that I pulled out in the video from the left side of the machine in the water trough area. That's the reason why when I am completely done I pull the tube out and drain it completely then I will flush it multiple times (4) with clean water. ***For safety & liability reasons I got to tell you to do it the way the factory describes how to do it, which is usually listed inside the machine or on the factory's website. all this is done after the machine has ran the cleaner through itself usually somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes. But this is going out of memory and should be verified by checking the manual. ****Use all these procedures at your own risk.**** #Trust but verify 👍👍

    what would be the problem if the cubes don fall of the tray? half of them stay on the tray and when the water stall falling again it splash of the cubes and fall on the ice at the bottom freezing on allthe ice!

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're referring to the evaporator plate as "the tray" then I would guess that is probably a problem with the refrigerant charge being low and not creating enough heat to melt them off during Harvest, or could be a harvest valve problem or you could have problems with the evaporator plate itself. Hard to be certain when you're not standing there looking at it but that's the most likely scenario

    You stated how if another co. Called out after you. They say that the machine needs cleaning,to work. Not good for you! Well if you do not clean and after service a customer or employee gets sick, they trace back to the dirty machine. You just serviced, and did clean, Can you be held responsible? Or if note on the bill you suggested it but customer said no. You would be off the hook ?

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't left a ice machine dirty yet. If they want me to do the repair work it's getting cleaned if it needs cleaned because I have to warranty my own work. Anytime something that is questionable that could create a situation that may implicate me or the company in a negative manner it will get noted on the paperwork. It at least gives you something to stand on not that it may be ironclad.

    This is off topic but window AC for the last 10 years have been ridiculous in design. The thermistor on electronic models is right on evap and the supposed econ mode has to run fan about 2 mins out of 10mins to get an accurate read, and what's more, the fan runs about 3 mins after compressor off, this just increases humidity. First thing I do is put thermistor outside of vent in room, and wire 1 speed (low) to compressor relay and done. Fan runs with compressor and no more excess noise and humidity. Anyone else notice this crap design?

    Another incorrect statement one when any ice machine is turned on from a off cycle especially if it has been off for a while they will do a prechill which is when the water stops flowing over the evaporator because it to create the flash off effect or sudden heat loss case and point it is like when some one touches their tongue to a frozen pipe it is the flash of the heat transfer that causes the tongue/water to stick to the pipe or evaporator otherwise the evaporator would look like a frozen waterfall in winter and water running over the ice
