    Hey dude, good video. Im thinking about which type of engine control to use, so this COBB vid was useful. Ive got '12 gsr/octane blue. Currently its just bolt ons. My goal is 350-375whp. Ive got an upper ETS IC charge pipe, ETS intake w/the recirc tube, and a 3" ETS turbo back exhaust w/a resonator & no mufflers. Im still using the stock cast iron turbine outlet elbow, so the exhaust bolts up at that point. It also has some type of aftermarket shifter. Idk what brand or design it is though. It was on the when i bought it & i haven't pulled the console to inspect it. I don't think the throw is shortened,but there's definitely a difference in the tightness, and gate feel. My issue is, I've nvr driven another evo x, other than mine, so I've got no frame of reference as to how it compares to a stock version. Ive noticed that under specific conditions, it'll lock me in 5th gear. Its definitely a shiter issue, but that's all i know. Normally it's not a problem. Gear changes are precise at all rpm's & gear change aggressiveness. However, if its in 5th gear, & you come to a complete stop, w/o pulling it to neutral, just depressing the clutch, when you go to start moving again, it will not come out of the 5th gear position. Unfortunately i discovered this the 1st day of owning it, at a busy intersection, & couldn't go on the green light. Panic set in, & all i could think to do was grab the shift knob w/both hands & literally muscle it out to the neutral position. Luckily that worked, it went into first completely fine, smooth as you'd expect, & w/o any grinding. From now on i just take it out of 5th prior to a full stop & theres no issues. It can be duplicated if you're stopped & you put it in 5th. Doesn't matter if its running or not. The only way to get it out of 5th in that situation is to muscle it out. I even tried letting it roll a bit, then trying, but to no avail. Thats why i believe its a shifter/linkage issue. Have you ever had anything weird happen w/your shifting? Would you consider your shifter feel to be notchy? Ive had several manual cars, including both FWD layouts (like the evo) as well as RWD layouts, some cable actuated, some linkage style. None have been like this evo. Every manual car I've driven has some degree of shifter slop. Normally, when in neutral, theres enough play to wiggle it, making sure its actually in neutral. Its not a lot of play, but its there, even when you're in gear it'll have a slight play. This evo has none. It has zero play in neutral or any gear. You can look at it's position & know exactly what gear its in. I realize that's not a problem, it's just unique to this car. Theres like zero chance of a mis-shift. If you pull it into 2nd it'll go to 2nd. You won't accidentally pull it into 4th for example. I feel like i could put metal cover in place of the boot, like Ferraris had back in the day, & the shifter would never contact the gate slots. Even if you forced it. I wondering if thats how a stock evo x feels? Besides all that, are you aware of that clutch line restrictor near the slave cylinder? Ppl remove them & claim to feel a noticeable positive result in pedal feel. What's your thoughts on that? I don't feel any issue w/pedal feel. Could it be that most cars have like a two position pedal heaviness in the release stroke, whereas the evo feels like an even pressure through the whole stroke? It never bothered me. The actual engagement point seems like it's where it should be. Coming from a 350z, pedal feel is similar, if not lighter & smoother. Also, what are your thoughts on ppl removing the boost restrictors, inside the vacuum lines near the factory boost solenoid? The last thing I'll bother you about is about the COBB accessport. Those stage settings are based of what exactly? I assume the number refers to octane grade in fuel? What are the other notations in reference to? I.e the CHEC or whatever it was? Is there somewhere to acquire modification parameters suggested for each tune? Im curious what fueling mods are needed for each map/stage? At what point is a pump upgrade or injector size needed? Stuff like plug heat range, IC upgrade, manifold/turbo change? Im hoping to achieve my goals on 93 octane pump, possibly a walbro 225, electronic boost controller like AEM truboost, a AFR guage/wideband o2, and maybe a turbine housing upgrade? Hopefully that is possible. Im looking to retain driveability, stock turbo, injectors & clutch. I don't wanna choke the oem turbo or make high ratio back pressue vs inlet psi, or run real close to knock. Im not opposed to a meth injection setup if i can add timing, yet stay away from knock thresholds. Well, sorry about this long ass comment. I just don't meet any evo x owners in my area, & im trying to familiarize myself w/this cars' characteristics. I know how to wrench pretty well, bur i just don't know much about the evo x design. Keep up the evo content! Subscribing now!

      It does not feel notchy to me. As for your parts I assume you are not tuned yet if you are looking into a Cobb accessport. Get some kind of tune ASAP as parts with no tune on this motor blow them up fast. Since this Video I’m Stage 3 now with an updated video. The map names are for the gas type of 91 or 93 and if you have the Cobb SF intake or the high flow filter. Injector and pump upgrades won’t be necessary until E85 or bigger turbo. Delicious Tuning makes a great kit of Flex fuel for this car.

    Hey man, just getting started with my engine build after doing the basic body work I wanted to get done. I have an UR Catback exhaust, and that is about it. I am picking up the COBB SF intake with my AP. Should give me a substantial bump. Just commenting to say this is the first video I have come across of yours. Subbed.

    What year is your Evo x? It says that that access port is for 2013-2015, but will it work on my 2012?

      Zerbert_The_Zuma 2013. I would ask Cobb. I would hate to give you wrong information. Our cars are really finicky on tunes and mods.

    does your cobb have the launch control setting for your evo? it seems like my AP doesn’t have a lot of features like other people

    • @TheHoff4K
      @TheHoff4K  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It did but recently a lot was removed due to EPA compliance. I would find a tuner and get a flash done. I no longer have the Evo and now have a GTR.

      Fierce look on the Cobb website but I don’t think they have it programmed for your car.

    Cute cat 🐈 I'm in the middle of a divorce too. Hoping the cobb tuner helps my car to

      It does help and the off the shelf maps make it a bit richer. But you can get a etune or dyno tune with it and it will be dialed in for your car and parts the best. My GTR I just bought will be getting an ecutek tune soon enough as I transition out the military.

    You don't need to pick a map do you? I'd just run it as a monitoring system

    • @TheHoff4K
      @TheHoff4K  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you don’t need to and that is all this is good for now. They are locking it down because of EPA regulations.

      @@TheHoff4K I was about to spend 300 on a used one today. I asked and he said I need to pick a map so the car can connect to the ob2 . I just want to use it as a monitoring system. I wish you didn't need to choose a map to load up
