Steak - Simple and delicious Flat Iron Steak on the Blackstone Griddle

  • This is an awesome steak to try on your griddle! The flat iron comes from the shoulder of the steer which usually means a tougher cut of meat. This particular shoulder cut however is amazingly tender and flavorful! It tastes far better than you can imagine an $8 steak would. Try it out and leave a comment, do you think it taste like an $8 steak?
    Note: The steaks were on the med rare side, if you want medium cook them to a higher temp.

    Made flat iron steak for the first time about 6 months ago. Was absolutely amazed at how tender and delicious it was.

    It also can be used for fajitas. It is more forgiving if you cook it beyond med-rare than a flank or skirt steak. 2002 is when they discovered how to remove a flat iron efficiently from the shoulder of the cow.

    Flat Iron Steak cooked right and sliced thin is one of the greatest steaks you can get.If you can find it at the store it's cheap so pick it up you will be shocked at the velvety texture and great beef flavor.Reminds me of a mix between a Filet Mignon and NY strip .Simply Awesome!

      They were a staple for us growing up. Not sure if that was because they are cheap or because mom didn't want to have to peel fresh potatos but we love em! :-)

    Something to try with canned potatoes do them like a smash burger and flip them little brown on each side salt pepper and when you put them on the plate Lil Pat of butter they’re good or season however you want but that’s how I do them

    I know Walmart and I’m sure other stores also sells canned potatoes that are diced, so you don’t even have to cut them! I had never thought to buy canned potatoes in my life until I saw someone recommend them for an easy side while camping. Just drain, brown with some butter and seasoning. I keep them in our pantry now for nights when we get home late and still need to throw something on the grill and make a side before bed. I’m a nurse and often don’t get home until 8:30 or later.

    Better way, bring to ambient temp, massage oil onto steak, not grill. Heavily season. Add to very hot grill 3 mins a side. Add massive amounts of butter after flip over. Cook 1 min aside until 130+. Take off, deglaze pan with Marsala wine. Pour on steak let sit covered 6 mins. Eat.

    "The way the butchers cut it now"..... im out. Its a standard

    • @TheGriddleGuys
      @TheGriddleGuys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is Def a standard but some get lazy and leave the tendon. I was referencing how the beef council did research on developing additional marketable cuts from what was previously not marketed as a steak. Prior to this research butchers did not always Filet the flat iron out and sell individually. I am sure if course there were exceptions. Ty for watching and taking the time to comment. N

      Unfortunately with active kids/families like all of the griddle guys have as well as a lot of our subscribers , we are always looking to save time. 10 minutes saved by not having to do dishes and 20 minutes of cook time saved by using canned potatoes is 30 minutes that can be spent getting a kid to basketball on time or practice out in the backyard. We definitely know it's not for everyone but the idea of our channel is to think outside of the box and to help people try things they have not thought to try ( like canned potatoes 😁) . Thank you for at least checking us out and if you really want to have your mind blown check out Chris making popcorn.

      It's not posh, it's reality for most of us commoners. It's still semi-homemade and much better for the family than just ordering take-out for a meal. I'm mad that I didn't know about canned potatoes when my kids where in school! I'm getting some now, though. I just threw out 2# of fresh potatoes cause they went bad....WAY bad. lol Great vid, Nate!
