    I test rode the Tuono and Super Duke R. For me it’s the Duke. The Tuono was too good. The power delivery was intoxicating. I literally could not stop running through the gears like a mad man, it was so much fun. The noise, the acceleration, the power was addicting. You’re asking what’s wrong with that? I could not stay below 80 anywhere. I don’t care who you are, how mature you think you are, this bike wants, no needs to be unleashed. You shift to third and you’re already double or triple the speed limit. It would be nothing but trouble and Texas cops do not mess around. The duke was so smooth, accelerated so evenly and predicable. It could chug along at slow speeds and still be happy. Torque absolutely everywhere, any rpm. More comfortable riding position. One of the best engines ever put on a motorcycle.

      My 800 Dragster rr is the same feeling, especially with the quick shifter and the sound of the 3cyl. 140 H.P. mv agusta tune.. 370lbs...and it flies! I saw an aftermarket windscreen for this bike that follows the lines beautifully. I can't remember the name anymore but it looked as if it was OEM and didn't spoil the looks at all. It made it look even more like a RSV4. It was not a super tall screen but more like a wind deflector.
    Really enjoying the reviews. Better than those American motovloggers who wiggle the bike from left to right on a straight to test the handling and ride from traffic light to traffic light :p
    Also people who complain about reliability of Aprilia have never owned one and just think: "It's Italian so it's probably rubbish." They are actually very high quality but so is the price.

    Great vid :) Always felt a bit strange about the Tuono - never quite sat well with me that people consider it a naked bike, but after watching I get it - it's more upright than a sports bike. Loved the traction control demo too - amazing how much grip those tyres have given the power of the bike.

    Hi. After two extended test rides, the offer of free leathers in May and the MCN review, I traded my 4 year old HP4 for a new Tuono. Lamb Chops, I have to say I do agree with you that these bikes are for serious bikers. By that I mean guy's n gals who like a fast bike and I hope can ride it safely on public roads. I don't agree that they're intimidating. If you're a mature (mentally) rider, these are definitely not intimidating. I'm of the school that power is your friend, but misuse of it will probably kill you. Every day people who can't use power safely kill themselves. On that basis my recommendation is to leave this bike off your list if you're a nutter, the type who like to big themselves up down the pub with 'I did this speed' type banter. Who's impressed by speed? Only other nutters. Acceleration, quality riding and power used under control is the only drug needed if you like a fast bike. If you're in that group, there won't be a better choice of bike. The Tuono Factory is utterly sublime. It only took one ride on familiar roads to confirm my decision to buy this bike. I literally welled up as I watched my HP4 leave the drive with an imposter on it and it was a brilliant brilliant BRILLIANT bike, but the Tuono rips it apart for road use. If you're teetering on the edge of buying a Tuono, even one a couple of years old - and you're in the club mentioned above - go to it. You won't regret the decision.

      On italian aprilia forums where there are several 2017 owners they reported the following minor annoyances:
      - engine overheating on really hot days and slow riding/traffic situations
      - engine turning off/stalling when clutching in between 2nd/1st gear, supposedly fixed with ecu update
      - bike losing slightly more power than previous models when riding at heights (>1500m sea level), supposedly due to euro4 compliance
      Other than that everyone seem to be enjoying the bike, some already started swapping that euro4 boiler exhaust along with aprilia's race ecu map and seems like everything's fixed.

    Touching the throttle does NOT disengage cruise control. In fact, you can OVERTAKE vehicles without disengaging ; Increase speed by as much as 15 mph +/- with the throttle, overtake, let go of throttle, and it will come back down to original setting.

    • @TUBINATWORK
      @TUBINATWORK 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RoadRunner I was going to say the same thing. Now, if he happens to be rolling forward on the throttle, that does disengage cruise.

    Hi Lamb Chop, been watching your vids this evening. Tested the 2017 Super Duke and 2017 MT10 from PH Motorcycles on the weekend. I personally found the Super Duke a little agricultural but loved the handling (suspension and brakes). I found the riding position more supermoto style (i'm 6'2'' and lean, 11.5 stone). Loved the MT10 engine, it's smooth and spins up so fast, suspension rather soft and brakes pretty wooden in feel compared with the Brembos on the Duke. With a little setup time and new pads etc on the MT10 I'm sure it would be sweet. In fact i nearly put a deposit on an ex demo with an Akra as good price. Always wanted a Tuono but thought it was out of price range. Have found a good deal on a pre-reg on the RR version and excellent finance deal so will be putting a deposit tomorrow morning. Thanks for the vids, you have made up my mind after much procrastination! I see you ride around West Sussex, see you on the A272 some time! Peace and love big man!

      +jake mcdonagh thanks matey and glad I could be of help. You won't go wrong with the Tuono that's for sure and agree with your comments. I need to try the mt10 again and am kinda tempted with the SP as suspension should be dialed on that.. need to find a demo! Say hi if you see me 👍

    It's quite interesting, the topic of cost and which is highest. I'm in Canada and the KTM is thousands more than anything else. The Ape, Yamaha, and BMW are all merely hundreds apart from each other. So, that made my decision on the 17 Tuono a no brainer! Plus the only dealer for hours is in my town!

I took the touno factory out for a test ride and I couldn't believe how easy it was to ride and very comfortable! It has a wild side to which I like and sounds mint when it's opened up. Thank you for such an excellent and comprehensive review of the Tuono. I test rode one yesterday and agree with you that it is a superb bike. The nicest I have ever ridden. I do disagree with you one issue though. You mentioned in one of your videos that the bike is quite intimidating to ride. I consider myself to be a competent rider, certainly not as experienced or as capable as you, and yet, I was very surprised to find how easy the bike is to ride. Certainly, it is extremely powerful and can be a hooligan, but I love way that it can be ridden in a docile" mode and how versatile it is. For example, I had no difficulties riding it in traffic. I will definitely buy one (I am lucky enough to own a Triumph Thruxton 1200R and the new Ducati Supersport S).

    i saw a dyno of the rsv4 2017 (not tuono) and it is flawless => even the guy who did the dyno never saw such a surgical tune from a standard bike => i'm realy considering buying one because i sat on one in 2012 and the bike seems to be cut for my body , that's how it felt and i didn't even rode the bike just sat on it .
    now with the new one with the TFT and the lighter pistons etc. it looks like perfect .
    i know the aprilia had some problems with the trottle response in the beginnig etc. but to me it realy looks like the bike has become as perfect and flawless as can be .
    for the price => knowing aprilia is a small company you get well worth for what you pay for in my opinion ;-)

    Nice Vid. I think you wraped up the stunning features of this bike very good. At my size (6 foot) the wind shield is perfect. As you mentioned, you really have to think hard to find cons. None of the cons you or others mentioned are true to me. Even more pros: when you start to adjust the suspension, you can adjust the bike to your riding Styles .
    One comment on the fueling: i know a couple of tuono riders and no one is complaining about the fueling. if fueling is yout main concern, buy a BMW GS. Other Example: a Piangale is crazy thirsty. Also nobody complains there. I have had great fuel consumtion on a speed tripple. would i buy one because of this? no way.

      I tried an MT07 a few months back, never did a video but really liked it! Super fun little bike with amazing wheelie potential :) great news about the A2 Mod 1, wont be long you will soon be on the new bike!

      Lamb Chop Rides I feel like the whole MT07 range has a great engine but then Yamaha cost cut on everything else. Everything is plasticy and feels cheap 🤔But for a 6k bike, it's a cheap way to get a bike that has plenty power for the road, and usable power for that matter. I've got no nails left be been waiting so long 😉 Been on order since January 🙄😂

    Did you find that it hunts or surges when held steady around 5,000rpm? Seems many do , with or without Aprilia Akrapovic and the race ECU.

    Chops I know different animals but if someone offered you the basic Tuono or S1000rr for you to own which one? Also any info on dealer / part support as there is rumours on reliability?

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The S1000R isnt my favorite naked find the straight 4 engine a little dull so basic Tuono for me :-) Aprilia isnt a huge company hence why in the past people have complained about parts availability. They have improved in the past few years and now wouldnt concern me, also no reports of common issues from what I can find..

      +Lamb Chop Rides cheers, I meant vs the RR but I suppose it would be same answer as the same inline 4 engine. Looking forward to some RSV4 footage

    I've just reserved this bike (2019 superpole) instead of the shiver 900.
    But have some friends that are putting fear to my body, saying that
    it's too much of a bike, unmanageable, or saying i wont enjoy riding
    it on open road.
    Any thoughts on this, i made a mistake? thanks!

    • @Jay-yg8jj
      @Jay-yg8jj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's totally manageable. The only issue, for me anyway, is that it's SO GOOD that you ride like an absolute twat without feeling like you are. Knee down off exits and the bike is like "You could've done that at least 15mph faster!". Dusting all my friends when I'm on it and I'm not even trying, I'm just having a good time.

    how is the heat from the engine? my friend's 2017 rsv4 rf apparently likes roasting his left leg at red lights lol.

    • @Macaroni646
      @Macaroni646 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sitting at lights on a moderate to hot day, you will feel the heat from the engine. Once you start moving, it's fine. If ambient temp is below 23-24 celsius, it's fine.

    • @cocker1177
      @cocker1177 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, the exhaust from the rear cylinders is pretty close to your left leg. Only felt it frying me once, stuck on a motorway traffic jam with narrow lanes on a hot day in May, other than that no issues (I wear full leathers, jeans might be a different story)

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Itzak good question, I think commute on SD as you can be lazy with more grunt and less gear changes. Better options for luggage when you need to cary stuff also. Both can do either though, tuono more focused on out and out performance.
