  • Gear review. Trangia 27-5 UL non stick cook set. A hike up the hills on a sunny day to unbox and test the Trangia. Cooked up bacon, eggs, haggis and a brew, then sat in the hammock and enjoyed the view.

I think if someone taught me how to catch a haggis I think I could eat one but I'm not sure I could eat the black puddin'. Might be a developed taste kind of like lutefisk. Looks like "a beautiful day in the shire".

We use Trangia products they are very useful but a little bulky says me (carrying a Kelly kettle lol) I used them many years ago now in scouts and venture scouts and started using one on our channel then switched to the Trangia triangle much less bulky and just as useful in my opinion. Keep up the great content 👍❤️

Yeah handy bit of kit, quite bulky like you say. I have the Kelly Kettle base csmp kit which is great as well but even bulkier🤣. One of my camping buddies has the Trangia triangle which is very lightweight and less bulky. Plenty more to come, atb👍

Cracking bit of kit. I’ve been using mine without issue for over 20 years. I’ve spent a small fortune on many other gas/wood/alcohol stoves and I always come back to the trangia. The only time I leave it these days is when doing the likes of the Dales Way or multi day hikes as it’s then just a small gas stove & simple rehydrated meals for the weight/space saving. Appen it’s time to sell some of the shite I don’t use and upgrade to one of these new fancy non stick versions 😄

Oh nice one. I've used tones of cook systems over the year but i still love the alcohol burner type. I've got my great grandfather one from the 50s and its still going strong. Still one of the best on the market. Even the cheap ones doesn't compare. I prefer to use bio ethanol instead of methylated spirits as its easy to clean the bottom of the pots and pans. 👍

Hi glad I found your review as I'm waiting on the 25 being delivered plus kettle

A great bit of kit, this us the 27, but ideal for myself. The kettle is an ideal size for 2 brews. I've only used it so far with the gas, but I'm going to get some bio ethanol for the little burner. An all round great bit of kit👍

I've found the non-stick pan for the Trangia 27 to not be very good at the whole 'non-stick' ability. To me, 'non-stick' should mean I can cook bacon or eggs without any oil on the pan whatsoever, just as I can with a cheap non-stick Tefal frying pan, however, I've found that due to the thinness of the material Trangia pans are made from, and the rough coating of teflon they've given it, that unless you use a decent dollop of oil or butter etc, anything you put on the pan will burn and stick to it very quickly, and will melt your nylon spatula or tongs etc (something that never happens with a Tefal). I'd like to see Trangia take a leaf out of JetBoil's book and manufacture a thicker material pan like the JetBoil Skillet. Overall, whilst the non-stick pan is obviously a damn-sight better than the regular raw aluminium pan, it still requires a good scrubbing after even a couple of rashers of bacon or a single egg.

I've 25-3 UL set... I like it and everything but one thing I must say. Trangia produces shittiest non-stick pans I've ever seen. One who's used to normal home teflon pans might think that pan is defective.
