WOW ! Mombasa city , there was many Indians in the colonial period . Chinese train from Nairobi to the city port of MOMBASA . I wish you a good and nice trip . FROM SOMALILAND .
There is a history of trade and interaction between the Indian subcontinent and East Africa prior to colonialism, but the significant influx of Indian, Pakistani, and Sri Lankan laborers to Kenya occurred during the British colonial period, mainly to construct the railway. This migration played a crucial role in shaping the demographic and cultural landscape of modern Kenya. Thus, you are following the path of some of your ancestors. Kenyan India community still play a significant role in the modern Kenya, a place they now call home. I am sure you will find many in Mombasa.
@rang3688 nice info you gave but correction the kenya uganda railway started to be built in the year 1896 but Indians from the state of gujrat came to the East African coast way before that, my community from kutch came in dhows to do trade here we do not have a recorded proof but our being here was passed on thru our ancestors.my community still exist in bhuj and they are still dhow sea farers to date, but we belong here in mombasa kenya for several hundred years now.
@@rang3688 ok sorry 🙏.even then you have made a mistake when you said the British colony brought Labour workers Indian, pakistani and Sri Lankan, the Kenya Uganda railway started building around 1896 there was no pakistan then
@@saeedaosman3510 again, what is your understanding of the Indian subcontinent? Geopolitically, it spans major landmasses from the countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The countries above (India and Pakistan) were all under British rule as British India. It was in August 1947 when British India was partitioned, ending three hundred years of colonial rule with the creation of two independent nations: India and Pakistan (comprising West and East Pakistan, present-day Bangladesh).
What that security lady said is true. Most Kenyans expect Indians to be aloof and insular because that's generally how Kenyan Indians tend to be. Seeing you two being so friendly is catching them off-guard.
SGR is not Narrow Gauge. SGR gauge width is 1,435 mm (4 ft 8 1⁄2 in), while NGR gauge width is less than 1,000 mm. Common sizes include 762 mm (2 ft 6 in) and 610 mm (2 ft). Others include, MGR-(the old system pf Kenya trains), and there is BGR.
@@rang3688 Thanks for clarifying. I posted my comment without checking facts. Anyways these lines are amost obsolete now atleast in the Indian Railways. Many African nations look to us for improving their Railways.
@@DhanasekaranT-de4wz 😂. Again, it seems you did not do your research. SGR is the modern standard and is widely used all over the world. Almost 60% of the world's railways use SGR. The Kenyan gauge line is less than 10 years old. 😂Besides, which African country in particular is using the Indian Railway technology? It was only the British colonial government that relied on Indian labor. Most railway construction in Africa is from China, not India.
I like shish she really talks like my Hr and she is also a vibe I am out here telling your indian people to watch you because they are always thinking that my country Kenya 🇰🇪 is full of poverty so I told them to watch I am even sharing to them your videos do keep the contents coming❤❤ tikhee???
Thanks Steve! Kenya and India are quite similar in that sense - there seem to be both rich and poor sides and sooo many layers in between that make up the middle class! 🤓🇰🇪🇮🇳
Britishers took Indian labourers to build this railway line. Two lions killed many people. Even a movie was made about two lions. 🤩 I wonder if Kenyan cricket team still exists.
Yes. The Kisumu Safari Train runs every Friday from Nairobi Central MGR Railway Station departing Nairobi at 1830 hrs every Friday and makes a return trip from Kisumu at 1830 hrs every Sunday. And the Nanyuki Safari Train departing from Nairobi Central MGR Railway Station every Friday from 0900 hrs and making her return trip from Nanyuki every Sunday departing Nanyuki at 0900 hrs.
You kids need to watch scary movies before you go on a trip 😈 Yea it’s a great movie although bear in mind the lions are a bit more enhanced for the movie - the real life lions bit less majestic

The kenyan ones are horrible
Yeah.. most Indians are very shy to speak.. but once you get them a little out of their insular shell, they're (we're) all very nice and friendly! 😅
It's the first time I have heard of this train. Very cool indeed. Will check out "The ghost and the darkness. " Sounds interesting

Is Kenyan chapati the same as Indian chapati?
A bit different.. Indian chapati is thinner and smaller, typically. Kenyan is thicker and fills the tummy very fast 😅
😢 there is chapati, parata and roti. What we call chapati in Kenya is called parata in India.
