Jared, I spent 30 years in the US Navy as a Combat Photographer and your generous heart and spirit brought tears to my eyes. Thanks to you and Canon you changed peoples lives forever.
I had a professor in college who was amazing. After I graduated and started my photo career, I got a contract to shoot a large group portrait. I called that professor to tell him that I got my first “commercial” gig and to ask him some questions. We discussed my setup and he told me that I didn’t have the correct gear for the job. He then offered to drive 3 hours down to where I live and to let me borrow his personal gear to get the shoot done right. That one shoot went extraordinarily well and helped catapult my career. Now going on 6 years later, I have a fully fledged business, a large studio and a calendar booked 6 months out. I routinely call that professor and every time I’m in my old college town we go out to lunch. It’s amazing how generous and caring people can be. Now, I am excited that this year, I will be hosting fiend trips for my old high school’s photography class to my studio in order to try to pass along some of that help that I was given along the way. Keep on doing awesome things Jared! The world deserves more people like you!

It honestly has been a life changing moment for me as a teacher and for my students. Ryan actually has used his camera to take senior pictures for a few students as well as photograph a couple of car shows and has a few other things planned out. Thank you for being such an amazing human and for everything you do! It’s truly makes a difference!

This is amazing! I recently joined a high school and they knew that I was a professional photographer. I asked them if I could start a photography club to help get the school students involved in more extracurriculars. I was granted permission and a few weeks later, we were able to have our first meeting! Out of the 30 students, maybe 6 have camera. I went out and reached out to my community to gather 4 cameras for some of the students to use and learn on. Its limited, but they are loving it! I even let them use my professional gear to show them how to adjust for certain effects, etc! I love hearing these stories! Keep spreading the love!

I’ve been following you for a while, and your passion, energy, and wealth of knowledge have truly inspired me. As a young sports photographer, it hasn’t always been easy navigating the world of photography, but your videos have been a constant source of motivation and guidance. Whether it’s learning new techniques or just getting inspired to keep pushing forward, your advice has been a huge part of my journey. Right now, I’m using a 75-300mm kit lens for my sports photography, which has been a great starting point for learning the ropes and developing my technique. I’ve been shooting a lot of football, and lately, I’ve been dreaming of upgrading my gear with either the 70-200mm or a 400mm prime lens. I know those lenses would be a game-changer in capturing those fast, high-energy moments on the field. I can only imagine how much more I could capture with that level of sharpness and reach. It’s a goal I’ve been working towards, but I could really use some help to make it happen. I was a teacher for 53 years. I appreciate it so much what you did for that teacher and his students you certainly have not forgotten where you came from.
I'm a photographer who works a lot with schools, taking yearbook photos, senior portraits, sporting events, etc. I've always noticed that the wealthier schools I photograph always have a team of students photographing with me, all on brand new cameras, mostly with better gear than what I'm getting paid to shoot with. Other schools in underprivileged neighborhoods will either not have any students out photographing, or they might have 1 or 2 students with a used 10 year old DSLR and a kit lens. It brings me to tears to see the difference between the two. Thank you Jared for being the change the world needs, and doing something about that difference. Doing whatever you can to help those out who are just trying to get a start in this wonderful hobby/profession.
As a photographer and have worked in education for over 15 years, I totally understand the struggle for teachers in TV production/ photography. I've been pushing for new gear in our district for years, but students are stuck with t4i's and kit lens to learn from. This was extremely generous of you and Canon. Hats off to you sir.

Words cannot fully express how deeply moved I was by hearing this teacher's story. It truly resonated with me on a personal level. Currently, I find myself in between cameras, having made the decision to step back and reevaluate my life, placing less emphasis on materialism and more on what truly matters. In this period of reflection, I promised myself that I would allow myself one true passion-traveling and photography. I haven't yet replaced my Nikon that I sold, as I had initially intended to return to Nikon gear. However, hearing your stories about Canon’s partnership and their generous donation of equipment to deserving photographers has really made me reconsider. Your words may have just inspired me to dive into researching Canon gear instead. Thank you so much for sharing these impactful stories, Jared. They have reignited a spark within me and reminded me of the joy and purpose that photography can bring. I’m truly grateful for the inspiration.

This is fantastic! I'm all choked up right now. It is really sad that teachers have to fund their own classes and they get paid sh*t. As a nation we better re-focus our priorities into what's important like our next generation. I'm 59 and took photography in High School and loved every part of it. shooting and developing B&W film was great fun I still shoot film and recently jumped into mirror less . Love your channel thanks so much for helping these kids shine!!

This makes me cry so much every time. I did a similar thing. I know a young man who did not keep to keep the equipment he was working with in high school. I gave him a camera body he insisted on paying for it so I charged him 1 cent and I gave him 3 lenses. Now he works as a sport photographer for one of the school districts here. It feels so good to help someone pursue their passion.

What a great idea. so much of the creative arts can be out of reach for kids with less means which keeps them out of the learning curve. Good on you for getting this done!
You have changed my life with my daughter. She is in the Air Force and wants to learn photography. Watching your videos has helped us grow. We are trying to coordinate our schedules for a photo shoot in New York.

Words cannot fully express how deeply moved I was by hearing this teacher's story. It truly resonated with me on a personal level. Currently, I find myself in between cameras, having made the decision to step back and reevaluate my life, placing less emphasis on materialism and more on what truly matters. In this period of reflection, I promised myself that I would allow myself one true passion-traveling and photography.
I haven't yet replaced my Nikon that I sold, as I had initially intended to return to Nikon gear. However, hearing your stories about Canon’s partnership and their generous donation of equipment to deserving photographers has really made me reconsider. Your words may have just inspired me to dive into researching Canon gear instead.
Thank you so much for sharing these impactful stories, Jared. They have reignited a spark within me and reminded me of the joy and purpose that photography can bring. I’m truly grateful for the inspiration.

This is fantastic! I'm all choked up right now. It is really sad that teachers have to fund their own classes and they get paid sh*t. As a nation we better re-focus our priorities into what's important like our next generation. The one thing I took away from this is he didn't complain, didn't play the victim, it's just the way it is and it sucks. Thank you so much Jered for all that you do. I'm 59 and took photography in High School and loved every part of it. shooting and developing B&W film was great fun I still shoot film and recently jumped into mirror less . Love your channel thanks so much for helping these kids shine!!

This makes me cry so much every time. I did a similar thing. I know a young man who did not keep to keep the equipment he was working with in high school. I gave him a camera body he insisted on paying for it so I charged him 1 cent and I gave him 3 lenses. Now he works as a sport photographer for one of the school districts here. It feels so good to help someone pursue their passion.
