One thing I just found out super gt did that I really wish IMSA/SRO/WEC would implement, is that when a car has some sort of ballast change, they actually put colored stickers on the back window of the car. Like if a car won last race and needs a 25kg increase, they will put two red +10kg stickers and one +5 sticker on the car. So often I'd see a car win, watch them like completely walk away from the rest of the field in straights and wonder "Do they have some kind of ballast advantage or disadvantage?" This would really help kind of put everything out on the table, and make all the competitive changes much more visual. It would make somebodies win that much more impressive if you saw they had +50kg on their window, knowing what they were working with.
Yeah but those are different systems. BoP is supposed to make cars somewhat equal, that's what SRO/IMSA/WEC use. Super GT meanwhile has a success ballast system which punishes the most successful teams.
I may be incorrect, but I believe they post either the BoP or ballast last year on the IMSA website. Possibly WEC too, although I don’t recall ever going on their site( just not as interesting to me as IMSA).

Not their doing. The rules changed and limit the number of car manufacturer car count in PRO. They didn't get selected by Porsche to run their cars so they went to Mclearn.
Most likely the other way around.

Great update! Just want to point out that 2022 was not the debut of GTD Pro, the wiki is misleading. GTD has been in, and split into pro and am since 2016, in 2022 gtd pro got a rule adjustment. Source - Crewed for Hawksworth before Lexus went to Meyer Shank Racing.

After watching the GT4 sprint races last weekend, im very curious to see how those new Mustangs look in GTD. Watching Marrs go from last place to first in a 45 mins sprint was insane.
They got a BOP adjustment already, they were pulling busses on the packs on the straights
@@mattyp3119it's ok, everyone needs to be roughly at the same level, last year BOP for Porsche Ferrari and Lamborghini were awful

It shows how wrong the BOP was last year when you see the massive changes to Porsche right off the bat. I bet pfaff is kicking themselves right now.
PFAFF McLaren and Ferrari are at the same level this year IMO,but i doubt PFAFF ditched Porsche due to BOP

Pfaff have had a very close relationship with McLaren for a while, I think for them an opportunity to become one of the headline GT programs for a manufacturer was an opportunity they didn't want to pass up!

I'm confused; isn't the Ferrari 296GT3 new to the IMSA GTD class? Last year Ferrari was using the 488, so why was there a BoP adjustment for their new entrant?
Last year was the 296’s first year. They used 488’s in WEC (GTE not GT3) as Ferrari didn’t build a new car for the last year of the class
the 296 gt3 debuted last year at the rolex 24 with AF Corse, Risi, Cetilar, and Triarsi

Question for everyone: Did the Ford GT3s under-perform even though they're brand new and still being dialed in?
Hard to tell after quali. I think we can only judge everyone's pace during the race.
Quali doesn't really matter because the conditions during the race are going to be wildly different. We'll see how they go this weekend.

Heh, so much for getting rid of the LMP3 class solving the all the crashing issues... lol. Having the drivers in a different classes, same results...
And, OMG, what are a bunch of NASCAR commentators doing on an IMSA race? I love Jeff Burton, I really do, but all he's saying is "I don't know about (Fill in the blank) sport car racing..." over and over.
Hopefully they dont throw a caution at 23 hours 45 minutes and ruin the entire race.

GT was homologated and built to GTE specs, also I don't believe Ford even sells the road-going version anymore?
So it makes sense it's not the GT. From there the Mustang is about the only other car they have left that's a "performance" car.
Nooo... GT's were to NERFED to be competitive. A V6 can't overcome power and weight restrictions. A V8 has just enough muscle to do so.
