It was awesome to collaborate with Stu on this video, and on the project over on my channel. Hope you all enjoyed our videos, and I can’t wait for this years Rolex 24!
Great collaboration with Formula Jonah as I have been following both of your channels and really appreciate what you both do, as I too, am a massive fan of IMSA and of endurance sports car racing as a whole.
Just found both of your channels and love it. I love sports car racing and it’s a shame it doesn’t get more attention in the states but thanks for the content I subbed to both of you
1980 my dad was on a team at the 24 hours of Daytona. They had a strong 911 for the GTO class but the owner of the team kept trying to put Fuel injection on a car with a good carb set up. My dad said the car ran good on the level track but when it hit the high banks the FI did not have enough fuel pressure and the engine cut out. Scary is being up on the high banks of Daytona and your 911 starts to slide down that track. They missed qualifying by just a few seconds.
Can't wait to see what the Mustangs GT3 and Corvette does. The Mustang GTD already showed that it can come from the back and win in the fist race. Should be fun.
What people need to understand is that LMP3 was created to give racing experience to new drivers, especially gentlemen drivers, and teams with backgrounds in lower levels of racing the chance to expand into sports cars. The cars and teams were not intended to be running in races with far more experienced prototypes and GT teams and drivers. The LMP3 series races in IMSA were standalone sprints of 45 minutes with one driver and no pit stops. The cars mechanically were not built to run 24 hours. The only reason they were let into IMSA Weathertech events including the 24 was due to attrition among race teams before and during COVID. In 2021, IMSA was looking at very small ( almost embarrassing ) fields in its events in 2021 and inserting LMP3s was the solution for this. In the Weathertech races, and especially in the endurance events, the cars have shown major attrition rates. On the track they have been dangers to the other cars both due to a lack of engine power ( which is by design. Remember inexperienced and gentlemen drivers were its intended market) and inexperienced and sometimes outright slow drivers. IMSA has now reverted these cars back to its roots of short sprint races with the VP Racing Fuels series. But the experiment did provide benefits as teams such as Sean Creech and AWA got experience and their feet wet and now are moving up to LMP2 and GT3.
losing P3 is a small price to get legitimate racing....single marque racing (P2 cough cough) doesn't belong without more chassis. GTP and GT will be epic!
The Mustangs are bigger and heavier and the engines could be a lot faster to make up that disadvantage if the BOP by IMSA would let them, but it seems they like the smaller forced induction cars better so unless they let the Mustangs rip on the straights they won`t win anything this year.
It just sucks that while IMSA is finally becoming what I always wanted it to be, they slight all Canadians and make CTMP a sideshow. First time in 4 years I may not go to the event.
Yes those new Mustangs look amazing, but they are absolutely no replacements for the GT40. It’s a shame they killed the best touring car class in endurance racing. Both IMSA and the WEC will be much more boring without those (let’s call them GT2) cars. It’s everything GT3 these days and GT3 is by far the most boring and overused series. It killed so many racing series that it’s not worth watching much anymore, since there’s nothing unique to most classes anymore. Very very sad..
GTE died because manufacturers like Ford and BMW stopped competing in it. By contrast, GT3 is popular because it works for how manufacturers want to do motorsport these days. Also, what are these “so many” series that have been ‘killed’ by adopting GT3? The only series that I think can even vaguely fit that description is DTM, but they’re actually thriving rather than dying in their new GT3 era (albeit admittedly they ended up cannibalising the ADAC GT Masters series in the process)
Dude, blaming GT3 is short-sighted at best. You didn't bother to put some thought into why GT3 is the norm these days, and why GTE and Class One died off (except in Super GT which is thriving way better there).

Agreed! It was a great time putting these together and I hope everyone enjoys them!
Cool, but may I ask a question: You don't plan on joining in with the podcast?
@@DuvJones Are you referring to the podcast with Stu and GT Rain?
@@FormulaJonah I am
@@DuvJones Ah. Maybe in the future! I’ll need to talk to GT Rain and Stu about maybe doing something like that sometime
Great video! So hyped for this year. Both IMSA and WEC have epic grids.
Thanks, it's going to be a great year for sure! Full and super competitive grids!

Glad you're enjoying it! Plenty of sportscar racing coverage between this and Jonah's channel so you're in the right place!
Now this is a crossover ive been wanting to see for a while!
It's always a pleasure to work with Jonah, looking forward to doing more of these in the future!
Great collaboration video. Really excited to see how all the new teams will perform in the mix. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Informative content, keep at it. Found your channels last year. I'm stoked that you have persevered. Redwing rule.
Great video guys! I found your channels both last year and they have really helped me develop interest in sportscar racing!
Glad you enjoyed it Todd!
yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo my favourite IMSA/WEC channels collaborated LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Happy to see the GTD Pro class expand, and not sad about about LMP3 class removed.
Congratulations on the collaboration. Great symmetry and synergy!
Great job on this video. Fan of you both and loved seeing you work together.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun to put together!
Was good to see LMP3 moving to race alongside GT4's. That was fun to watch last weekend
Great work guys 🙌🏽 Great to have you guys keeping us informed while we have our heads buried in a Mercedes. Thanks for all the content as of late!
Ayyyy thanks man! See you later this week!
Nice Collab
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Cannot wait to see the Z06.R o the track!

I know IMSA doesn’t but will there be any major endurance races in Texas ? I’d be very interested in going in person
Yes! There will be a WEC race this year at Circuit of the Americas near Austin. It’s called Lone Star Le Mans
@@FormulaJonah Awesome I’ll be hopefully checking that out 🤟
Excited to see how the Mustangs do!!
Mustang and Corvette will be the best GTD Pro cars on the grid. Just speculating.
Their GT4 car got off to a great start last weekend! Let's see how the GT3 car does this weekend!!
Small correction, you said Lewis was the full time and 24 driver for the 55 Proton Mustang, Dennis Olsen is the 24 driver! Great video!
Thanks for noting that!!
Lars Kern driving a Vette? Didn’t see that coming.
Its going to be a little sad not seeing MSR on the grid..
Can't wait to see what the Mustangs GT3 and Corvette does. The Mustang GTD already showed that it can come from the back and win in the fist race. Should be fun.
I gotta pick the any of the Ford GT3 to win its class the car looks mean the Corvette will be hard to bet against but Ford is my pick great video🤟🤟
See you there. I live 10 minutes from the track.

What if you have just a little off in the Horseshoe, though? That's fine, right? 🙃
Your face when the video stops
I hate that the TV broadcast almost only shows the GT prototype cars. They almost never show GTD or GTD Pro, it's really aggravating.
does Jordan Taylor have a seat this year?
Yes! He's racing in the GTP class in the new number 40 WTR Acura
Just a shame there isn't as much interest in GTP as there is in Hypercar over in the WEC, still steady growth is better than no growth right.
If of the mustangs doesnt get painted white with blue stripes for lemans it will be a crime

Too bad it won't be on TV. Will be watching the 24 Hours of Dubai instead
