    Hi, great video. You are doing so well. I just got my spin bike about 2 weeks ago. Starting slow as I am 78, overweight too, have had heart surgery 4 years ago and both knees replaced. I get out of breath frequently when I ride and have gradually increased my minutes. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to following along with you all...

    • @GerouxCrew
      @GerouxCrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ginger you are an absolute beast in all the best ways-- recovering from multiple surgeries and your Silver age and still working on your health is GOALZ for sure for me...Be my mentor!
      I I actually do not have a ACL in my right knee myself and I always forget about it. I obtained a complete 5 degree tear while doing a fit run obstacle course in 2015-- and I have never had it repaired-- my doctors said it was not necessary for me to so I opted for just physical therapy-- I totally forget that I dont have an acl in that knee until I go to do out of saddle and I am hyper conscious of my "proper form"
      I blogged (with wrtten words..) about tearing my acl here if you are interested.

    Wow so glad I found you! I’ve dusted off my stationary bike and moved it into the living room. I’ve been walking 10k steps a day but I live in central Fl and it’s way to hot to walk. Cycling is hard but my goal is 1 hour and I break that up through out the day. I don’t have a fancy bike but I’ve heard of modifications gadgets that I can get on Amazon to gage distance and speed. I’ll look into those. Thanks for the encouragement you did amazing!

We bought a Recumbent Exercise bike yesterday, with a nice variety of workouts and plenty of different resistence levels. I also purchased the cyclace bike during Black Friday/cyber Monday and got a killer deal. I also didn’t want to buy a peloton or similar until I knew if it was something I enjoyed. I was doing great for quite some time especially after I got past the initial saddle soreness. Then I started longer rides and began having some tailbone issues. I have a new seat coming that is suppose to help. Looking forward to getting back on! Keep up the great work!

    • @SensationallySilky
      @SensationallySilky 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GerouxCrew That's the blessing of starting at the bottom. Nowhere to go but up! 115 cadence is SUPERB. I'm nowhere near that. From my previous experience (long time ago) with spinning I don't bounce, and I can get out of the saddle for climbs but I'm living for the day when I'm doing 100+ cadence. Thank you for being so transparent and best of luck to you as you continue to press on and smash those goals. I'm rooting for ya sis!

    I just bought a NordicTrack Grand Tour Pro. I can’t do spin, but I always loved riding the stationary bike at the gym and lost 38 pounds at one point just doing that and watching my diet (also not counting calories). Here I am 9 years later and 21 pounds heavier (242) than when I started that journey (221); older and way less for and more sedentary. You are so inspiring for me. Hey are you watching Peloton?? Do a redesign peloton and make a bike with 400-500 weight capacity so you can reach en entire NEW level of clients...don't be the lululemon on exercise equipment and cater only to the already smaller peeps...and maybe get some instructors that are different body types up on there too!!!

      Not strictly keto but, no dairy and in the 25 carbs a day range and its been sustainable.

      Hi. I am from South Wales (UK). Just a few miles from where Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins were born :--). Accents are rather difficult to describe of course. Yours is clearly 'American', however, without any 'sharpness' or 'high to low' then 'low to high' intonations which my ears pick up on with some (not all) American accents. Thats just me though, haha.

    I did the Peloton 'Hack' a little over a week ago. I am using the app and have been on five rides so far. I certainly like the look of your bike better than mine! I like what you said about just being calorie mindful because I'm 41, about to be 42 - I know me. I KNOW a 'DIET' isn't going to work. This month I've just focused on two things. Drinking more water and eating out less. Whatever I eat at home is == whatever. Basically - more trips to the grocery store and less trips to fast foo joints. That's it. I have not weighted again since a week or so before I got my bike. I was at my heaviest ever. 250. Like you I'm looking for an increase in stamina and basically....I gotta sweat every single day. Period. I already have high BP issues and my father has had heart surgery. And I feel like crap. There is no way this can continue. I can do better for myself. Thank you for this video - I look forward to watching your other ones.

      Ginger-- I got my bike in late August and the first day all I did was SIT on it for a few minutes.
      I should update with another video to share more details of my "first few weeks"
      My first rides were all for "distance" meaning I was just trying to log 5 miles on my tracker---no matter how long it took---that first week I got off my bike every few minutes-- sometimes I collapsed on the floor to recover and then dragged myself back up on it--- until I did 5 miles. That might have been too much pushing it for others-- so not recommending it outright-- just sharing that I had a goal of amount of miles and didnt care about speed or resistance or how long it took me to get those in a day-- if I had to do 2 miles in the morning and 2 at lunch and a mile later sometimes I did that.
      I worked up to staying on the bike for an entire 20 minute ride video with pausing of the video.
      Then I worked up to entire video no pausing even
      Now I am at staying on the bike for the entire 30 minute or 45 minute rides without getting off or pausing for recovery.
      Its taken me almost 6 months to get to this point
      Slow and Steady and its showing me progress so it WORKS. Good luck and congrats on your start!!

      thank you so so much- the weight loss is a huge benefit and the first thing that most people think an exercise routine is for-- but for me- its more about self care and I feel so good on the days that I do exercise I am changing my mind set to seeing my time intentionally exercising on my bike or on the apps somehow as no different than taking my vitamins and meds in the morning---its needed.

Ie standing if yes CRANK the resistance way up and go slower until your leg muscles start recognizing that tgis is what you are doing..they will start developing around to strengthen the area and should start to feel better allowing you to either start going faster or lower resistance...pay attention to form..i will see if I can link to someone that talks about proper alignment . Just do not push yourself too much...when seated..dial back resistance and cadence and then work back up once your body catches up to where your brain wants it to go lol.

    Any bike recommendations for obese beginners looking to lose weight and improve cardio?

    • @GerouxCrew
      @GerouxCrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI dillsthrills - the only things I could recommend would be things I have tried which are limited--
      My bike is this one:
      Cyclace Exercise Bike Stationary 330 Lbs Weight Capacity- Indoor Cycling Bike with Comfortable Seat Cushion, Tablet Holder and LCD Monitor
      smile.amazon.com/ideas/amzn1.account.AFI5VSQDQDIM7FNHUYFWOUBQD42Q/13T4C2LI6CLSB?type=explore&ref=idea_cp_vl_ov_d
      Other bikes that I have used in the past are the large commercial gym ones that are found at gyms--- not the spin bikes the tall regular stationary bikes or the low recumbant ones.
      I feel like I lucked out that I like the one I did buy off of Amazon- because I went to several sporting goods stores in person to sit on different bikes and didn't like the feel of any of the ones I actually sat on
      I will say I also really like row machines-- they are really good for in my opinion full body cardio- I know me as a bigger girl my legs are used to carrying heavier weight so really do well in propelling me in rowing so that the upper body part is true cardio effort---when I was able to go to the gym I loved doing my weight sets, then rowing for either "time" ie beat myself in my head or for 15 minutes right before a YIN restorative yoga class and then just melt into the mat---I lost a lot of weight doing that 2-3 times a week. (I went from 280 to 217) (we vlogged some of our previous weight loss success a couple years ago if you want to see any of the older videos on here..found ourselves back at square 1 a few months ago for various reasons ;-) and the same strategies are proving still successful, albeit it maybe a little slower this time. Determined to not quit this time. Good luck to us both!!

    how do you figure out the resistance with peletons

    • @GerouxCrew
      @GerouxCrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will want your resistance totally "off" at the beginning of any ride--like zero turned all the way to the left or counter clockwise --totally slippery spinning-then slowly turn the knob right or clockwise until you feel the very first sense of "drag" on the wheels and that is what I use for my own personal baseline of zero or sometimes they call that "flat road"
      I am no expert in bike resistance but for my own self I have determined that 1 quarter of a turn on the knob on my bike (a cyclace) is equal to a 1 or 10% depending on what is being called out...so if they say be at a 40-50 resistance I will have a full knob turn for 40% and an extra quarter turn to 50 and so on... so if the knob was a clock a quarter turn would be from 12-3 if that makes sense.
      I am actually going to try out my best friends peloton and see what it really feels like and see if I have been close or way off...once I do that I will let everyone know lol
      Good luck!!

    The best way to lose weight is calorie deficit.

    • @GerouxCrew
      @GerouxCrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had success counting calories but found I got too hung up on numbers.
      I am intuitive eating whole clean foods and not counting anything. I might check a label to find sugar or carbs to decide if I want something that is not a whole raw food.
      So far so good on this side and it feels way more sustainable for our lifestyles and personalities.
      But yes, science says energy out being more than energy in should result in weight loss.
