49 year old, started cycling seriously a year ago to control my type 2 diabetes. in 12 months i have gone from 134.2kgs to 106kgs, 44 inch waist to 38, and most importantly my blood sugar has gone from 88 to 42, so diabetes well under control and my goal now is to reverse it. Great content, hopefully it will motivate others to make positive changes in their life!
Matthew that is absolutely amazing! Congratulations on your journey seriously that is so cool and motivating. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story. It means more than you know!
Well done! I'm on a similar journey, I have lost 45 lbs in the last 5 months, but I'm Mountain Biking; gone from 227 to 182 lbs. I'm 60 years old, so it seems more difficult at my age than it might have been when I was younger. I'm putting in 3 X 30 mile rides a week, from Sleepy Hollow (San Anselmo) out through Ross and past Phoenix Lake, then up Eldridge Grade to the top of Mt. Tamalpais, (the top mile of Eldridge is SOOOO freaking rocky, it's like riding up a dried river bed) then down via Rock Springs and around Lake Lagunitas, and back down via Shaver grade to Phoenix, then back home. At 60, I'm limited by my recovery time, specifically, I have a left knee that grumbles at me and needs time to settle down. I found the OMAD (One Meal A Day) method has been the real game changer for me, in terms of losing and sustaining weight loss. Thanks for posting this.
That is so so awesome to hear. That ride also sounds absolutely amazing. I might have to pick up a mountain bike at some point. Your journey is extremely impressive. Keep me updated on how it goes. And again thank you for taking the time to listen to my journey. I'll keep pushing a few extra watts for ya hahaha
What I love about mtbing is how much more engaging it is than road cycling. I love me some road cycling but mtb’ing is where its at! Nice job on the weight loss!!
I needed this! I really want to get into cycling but find it intimidating. Finding the right groups, finding the right routes, worrying about safety, the expense of the bikes and maintenance. But fuck it, I'm sick of being out of shape and this video was really inspiring. Huge congrats on your progress, man!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and listen to my story Jonathan! I promise you if you just get on a bike the rest will fall into place with time. There might be some weird interactions until you figure out how it all works but it’s part of the process and I promise you that process is worth it! Shoot me a dm if you need help with anything! I highly recommend an indoor smart trainer. I have wanted one for years and finally pulled the trigger and bought a Saris H3(brand doesnt matter. Just do some research and buy a quality one) and have never been so consistent with my riding.
So glad this popped up. I have lost most of my weight cycling. Just so you know I am a 66yr old grandma who is a vegan. That is why I love Vegan Cyclist!!! Helped me so much. You have done a great job. Onward and upward, bike on!!!!
That is amazing to hear. I am so glad you liked the video and thank you for taking time out of your day to comment and to watch my story. The Vegs is a great guy! Thank you!
I weighed my self on thanksgiving night. I was the heaviest I’ve been in my life at 217 pounds. I used to weight around 170-175 for 10 years, and in 2020 I started gaining weight from working out the house. So I decided to go buy a trek checkpoint on Black Friday and have started my journey to feel good again. I’ve lost about 5 pounds just riding about 5 miles everyday, but the biggest benefits I’m seeing almost instantly are I’m more focused through my work, my knee pain has disappeared, and I’m breathing much better. I hope I can be much closer to my normal weight by summer time.
Dude, congrats on your success EJ! Getting that fit - especially that quick - is a huge accomplishment! I know it can be hard to talk about stuff like this, especially depression and stuff like that, but trust me, you're not alone and there's a lot of people who can benefit from hearing stories like yours. I have kind of a similar story, though my weight gain and issues started earlier with the birth of my first kid, and just got worse with the pandemic. I picked up cycling last fall, got bit by the bug and lost 25lbs by spring. I still need to lose another 15lbs or so but seeing a success story like yours gives me motivation to continue.
Matthew, I really appreciate the kind words! That is so freaking awesome that you've lost 25 pounds already my man. I can't wait to see where you end up. Please keep me in the loop on your journey! It was a bit hard to share all of this but comments like this definitely make it worth it. Again I really appreciate it and look forward to this journey. Lets get it done together!
You described a very similar story to mine. I am currently in college but about 3 years ago I was at the top of my shape because I wrestled. I gained weight to a slight degree after and went from 182 to 198. After wanting some change, I lost weight and got to 185. After reaching my goal, I gained 88 pounds in two years. I’m at my heaviest now and I won’t lie it hurts. You described the mental challenge, insecurities and addiction to eating food. Thankfully I’ve set up a workout regimen with a friend and 100% feel more comfortable knowing that I have someone to back me up. I know I’m going to do this and I will execute it. Thank you for the inspiration because 70 pounds down is my goal at the moment. Although biking isn’t my interest, (due to the area not being very bike friendly) I will say that I do appreciate this video. Thank you. I’ll update this when I’m myself again
My main form of working out was brazilian jiu jitu. The pandemic squashed in person training. I was already heavy, but I ended up tipping the scales at 370 and was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in April 2020. I started riding a hard tail mountain bike on May 9, 2020. Then I got a hybrid bike. I lost 80 lbs in 9 months and put my type 2 into remission. I have since got rid of the hybird and got a gravel bike (and later a road bike) and to date I have lost over 110 lbs. Thanks for posting this video. I plan to do a "why i started riding video" soon :)
Micheal that is absolutely amazing. Congratulations on your journey. That is no easy feat. That is so awesome to hear! Keep crushing it! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and watch my journey.
Loving this direction. I weight 256 and am down from 320 from many moons ago. Still working my way down, caloric intake is the way to go, just need to keep myself motivated and going forward. I am definitely subscribed! As someone who has been overweight their whole life and who has lost 100lbs. twice in my life, weight is something that has been with me for life but something I don’t give up on losing.
Joey that is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for subscribing! That is such a cool story though. Congratulations on your journey! Keep crushing it!
Congrats EJ! Stoked for this new C2C! Hope to see more videos of you in the future! With Jeff’s guidance, you will be a beast of a cyclist in no time. Good luck on your trainings and rides, and most of all, stay safe!💯🤙🏽
I’m one of those randoms who got here without knowing about your main channel. The TH-cam algorithm works in mysterious ways. I’ll be going to your main channel after this. Congrats on reaching this milestone and best wishes for continued training! Perfect timing on this video. I’m at the beginning of a 30-35 lb journey.
Well James its amazing to have you here! Thank you for the kind words! Man you got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you on your journey!
@@norcalfullraces EJ, thanks so much for the encouraging words and for the response. Looking forward to your post next Wednesday. I’ve gone over to the primary channel to subscribe and as soon as a finish up a 5-hour drive today I’m determined to get on a friend’s trainer today and get started. Even if I burn out after a few minutes, today is the day.
Hey man, well done! I've been watching your videos all morning and I'm getting pretty stoked on the next season of racing.... which unfortunately doesn't start for another month or so up here in Canada. That said, I just wanted to throw in a word of warning: one of the aspects nobody talks about in cycling is how many cyclists have eating disorders. I'm not saying you have one and maybe you're not even headed for one, but be aware that food is good, and that losing weight past a certain point can be harmful, both to your health and to your performance! Anyways, keep that in mind, and keep killing it!
Thanks for this (I was recommended this video, and didn't know about the main channel). I am trying to start a similar journey. The issue I am finding is I go from 0 to 100% overnight. I need to get better at pacing myself and progressive overload. I'll sub to the main channel and tune in to your C2C season 2!
Welcome Paul! I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video. I really appreciate it! I started off slow to help my body get used to the intensity! You got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help your journey!
Great motivational video! Im a former professional baseball player (Pitcher) who has picked up recreational cycling in the last month now that I’m 41 and slowing down in life. Currently living in San Jose and enjoying local rides at the moment. Steven’s creek reservoir / Foohill expressway on the weekends. Similar to you I have a passion for food and have committed to kicking that habit with the intention of fueling my rides and staying disciplined. The mental clarity, drive and motivation I have to hop on a bike and go for a ride knowing my body will respond to it has been a fitness life changing experience.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to watch and listen to my story! You got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with your journey! You got this!
@@norcalfullraces I was cooling down from an hr+ ride on zwift while typing my comment. Cycling is now with me for life. My absolute pleasure, keep up the hard work. I'm cheering for you :)
Former D1 athlete, sick MTB skills, and personal coaching from one of the best in the biz... something tells me you'll be on the top step in no time. Good luck on your journey, and can't wait to see you bumping shoulders with Jeff at Nationals 😂
Great Video!! Congrats on the loss and getting fit. Getting fit again after a long layoff myself. Nor more crits for me! Been wanting to do the Terrible Two for almost 40 years. Hoping next year is the year. What area are you guys in? Napa myself. Ride on Brother!!
Inspiration man gained 80lbs during the pandemic dealing with my second ACL surgery, felt just mentally out of it and physically it took its toll on me as well. Trying to get into cycling to get my health back on track. Hopefully this year can emulate your journey God bless brother, love the vids man keep it up and cheers from the Philippines!
I’m so sorry to hear about the ACL surgery. That’s totally understandable to be mentally and physically drained from that! You got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
I went up from 150 to 220. I started cycling before I tried to lose weight, and just the mental clarity and physical changes convinced me to keep going and commit to losing weight. I realize now that I’m at this weight, why diet and exercise is important. I’m excited to increase my ftp w/kg. 2.1 w/kg could double in a year if I lose weight and keep going
Watching this right now. First off Congrats on such an achievement. Secondly, huge 👍 to Jeff for being such a friend and encouragement 👏. I haven't ridden much this year due to work and friends racing. Riding w friends are a huge part of a support team and encouragement.
Thank you so much. I seriously couldn't of done this without Jeff and Jackson, you're so right. Having friends to encourage you makes it 100x easier. If you're in the Bay Area and need riding buddies hit me up!
@@norcalfullraces Props to Jackson too, Im actually in the east bay area, near Mt Diablo. We ride road out here and gravel in the Mt Diablo foothills. Ill need to get my fitness back up first. Ride on! 🚲 looking forward to more cool videos!
Just seeing this, but thanks for sharing your story dude. I stepped on the scale yesterday and for the first time in my life, I’ve hit 300 lbs. It was pretty devastating, but I saw it coming because for the past few years, I’ve been putting off exercise and just eating junk everyday. Decided it was time to make a change and give cycling a go!
EJ, thank you for your story… I’ve never been into racing but I used to cycle a lot and for some reason I’ve stopped riding for the past 2-3 years and now I’m at my heaviest 226lb and seeing that you lost 70lbs in 6 months, makes me want to jump right back into it. Thanks
A very relatable story. I don't wish this upon but if you ever get out of shape again it'd be good to see crit to couch and how hard is it to gat back in shape once more..
Hey man! congrats on your progress. I’m amazed on how fast you were able to lose weight, love the consistency. I was also over weight in the beginning of the year. My height is 6’3 and I weighed close to 270 and now I’m around 225-230. Thanks to cycling and dieting. Back to 240 now because of the holidays but can’t wait to continue the process again next year and hit my dream goal of 200-205lbs. 🙌🏽🤙🏽
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to listen to my story and watch the video. Congrats on your journey as well! You're crushing it! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
Great story EJ. Cool to see you and the people behind the production. More behind-the-scenes footage and bloopers would be interesting on this channel. Also, I really enjoyed S1 of couch to crit. I only started biking last summer (no intention to race yet, who knows) but as you could imagine, am also sucked into this new hobby.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to the story! I defiantly plan on doing bts footage and bloopers on here as well (might even post one on here in the next couple days). I'm stoked you got into biking man it is such an awesome sport! Stoked we both got sucked into this hobby haha
I am turning 40 this year and tired of felling like crap. Started biking more and more each day, now im up to 25 miles a day and will keep pushing. Feels good having endurance grow again and not feel as winded each time.
Amazing!! So happy for you, that is a real accomplishment and life changer! Since retiring from racing my weight has gone up along with self-loathing. Any loss has been a struggle physically and mentally. Def watching your vids for some inspiration.
I hadn’t heard of the channel but it was on my recommended so now a subscriber 👌🏼 I too was like you, I was 230lbs at start of September, as of today I’m 196lbs… through cycling also, absolutely love it! I’m doing the Mallorca 312 at the end of April 23’ so hopefully more lbs to lose before then.. thanks for your vlog, it is definitely motivating 👍🏼💪🏼
Well thank you so much for subbing and taking the time to listen to my journey! That is an awesome journey you've been on! Way to crush it! Keep me posted on how the Mallorca 312 goes! Looking forward to hearing about it.
This is awesome man. Congrats EJ! This hits a little different as I’m currently near the heaviest I’ve ever been. I used to race about 10 years and 60 pounds ago. Trying to regain fitness in my 30’s with two kids. It’s tough, so what you accomplished is amazing. Super excited for the new channel!
Thank you Chris! It can really be hard, but I know you got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you on your journey! Being a dad is not easy (or so I've been told hahah)
Well done dude (stumbled on this, not a follower of the original channel)! big motivation vibes from this. Had a discectomy 3 months ago due to a bad crash and I was lacking on getting back on the bike. When I seen this it gave me a right kick up the ass! so thank you! we are back 3 days and going strong! looking forward to more videos of your cycling. Keep it up.
Thank you so much Steve. I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch and listen to my story! I am so terribly sorry to hear that but I’m so glad you’re back on the bike! You got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
I'm not overweight, but I've been unhappy with my eating for the past few years. Despite exercising a good amount, I've gradually started to gain fat. I used to get away with it because I was so active when I was younger, but can't anymore. Thank you for sharing how you did it!
Hey EJ, an avid viewer of Jeff here, he really started the spark in me regarding cycling getting fit etc, Im from Singapore and we are blessed with perfect riding weather all year round. I am 17 years old and was slightly overweight, cycling helped me get on track, managed to loose 8 Kgs and go down to a 18% bf range in the span of 6 month in 2021 and maintained that throughout 2022, recently some family problems caused me to loose focus and motivation and that "I'm exited to ride feel", I guess for some weird reason this video sparked that up again, so thanks!!! can't wait to see the content this channel has to offer, cheers!!
Great video EJ! Can't wait to follow this journey, it's so inspiring. Just a short constructive feedback, maybe try to look more at the camera when talking to us the viewrs? If that's something you feel like of course.
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen! I really appreciate It! I will work on that! I have a light on top of it so it was a bit bright hahaha but will definitely work on that for you! Thank you!
I’m on a weight journey myself right now. It’s amazing what your weight makes a difference on a bike. Like going farther distance and climbing hills when you’re lighter.
Thank you so much! Another vlog is being recorded as we speak! Will post it on Wednesday. I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to watch! It means a ton!
STOKED to follow your journey - have a history of fairly radical weight changes myself - taller guy 6'3" up to like 270 in middle/high school down to 200 -> 240 -> 215ish stably now. About 3-4 years into my cycling journey - big fan of the channel
Thank you so much Patrick! Stoked to be able to put this story out there. You did move around a ton in weight! 215 is a great weight for your height! I bet you put down some serious power
Great job, EJ! Cucumber salad is a favorite here too. Put rice vinegar and red pepper flakes on it. This channel just popped up on my feed- just subscribed.
subbed and looking forward to seeing your progress under Jeff's training umbrella. Good luck and appreciate your honest and unfiltered look at your cycling motivation and feelings around it.
Subbed too to follow your progress. Winter here in NJ is pretty harsh. Hopefully seeing ur videos and progress will motivate me to hop on my trainer earlier than usual. I'm an old fart and been cycling for many years. But age and cold days aren't helping to motivate me to hop on my bike.
This is awesome dude I was on my way down to my early high school weight then the pandemic hit and I gained it all back I’m slowly making progress back and this was inspiring
suddenly u inspired me to do it again. I've been back to cycling right at the end of 2020, same as you my weight just shot, and I gained 40lbs throughout the pandemic. I have been cycling but not that consistently and it seems like I'm getting heavier, and my waistline is growing. Watching this vlog just keeps on motivating me to improve on my habits and hopefully be like you, thanks man, you're a real inspiration to guys like me. Just finished college and now I'm working, just want to gain back my old weight and body. It has really affected my confidence and hopefully, be like you mid 2023, losing all those excess lbs!
I appreciate you taking time to watch the video and listen to my story! Seems like we had a similar story and man trust me you got this! If there is anything I can do to help you on your journey please DM me!
I personally loathe cardio. But i love biking. It was the difference. Same diet, but 10 miles a day on the bike shifted me from caloric surplus to deficit. It also gave me more breathing room in my diet to have higher protein levels, allowing me to preserve muscle mass while losing weight.
Well done with the weight loss, amazing progress in a relatively short period of time. That road quality looks familiar to most of us in the UK as we play dodge the pot hole!
Thank you so much Chris! I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch and listen! HAHAH these roads out here always make it for some fun riding
Hey man I started a similar journey 2 months ago down 25lbs in 2016 I did a 100 mile race with my dad and now 6 years later and two kids I was at 250 border line high blood pressure it’s is so awesome seeing some one vlogging this. I live in the northern Midwest so nothing but indoor cycling for me right now but can’t wait till I can tear up the road again. I’ve been considering doing crits but never done one
Thank you for taking the time to watch and listen to the story brother! I look forward to vlogging about this whole journey! If you need any help with your journey please feel free to reach out via DM! Would love to see you race a crit!
Same here. Corona lockdown and zero mental motivation to practice sports anymore. The only sport I did was moving the mouse on screens and sprinting to the fridge. Result 45 pounds more than before and a doctor's visit brought very bad news for me. Now getting back to cardio training with my new bike and hope for the best. 😐 I am 20 pounds down and have another 20 to go...
Awesome, IT CAN BE DONE... I am 53 years old now and I did the same thing when I was around 40. I went from 270 lbs to 187lbs in about 5 months, all from cycling. A back injury and some additional lack of motivation on and off since causes me to go up and down, but never to that level of 270. I am in the 220s now and got myself a more endurance oriented road bike (Orbea Orca) that my back will thank me for and am about to hit trainer again after the Holiday weekend. I tend to not make excuses unless it is related to injury, but my back has been better long enough that I blame myself now for staying of my bikes so long. Great job and ride safe.
Thank you so much for listening to my story! Congratulations on your weight loss accomplishments as well. That is an incredible feat! Stoked you’re getting back on the bike! Happy spinning!
nice homie. excited to see your journey this year! remember, keeping it fun is the secret. I have the opposite problem with food / protein lol. I need more most the time.
Keeping it fun is a great thing to remember I appreciate that. You got this man. Both sides of the food intake spectrum are tough. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
For your first vlog the quality and story telling was really good!! Excited to follow you on your cycling journey. You think you’ll post your strava link in description?
That is so nice of you to say! Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to watch the video! I will def post my Strava if that's something y'all would want to see!
Love the content and the journey. I started gravel racing to lose weight and have finally plateau the weight loss, so I need to focus on diet. I can't out-ride my eating habits anymore.
Hey EJ: This is Cycling in Southern California, your southern version....anyways, love your edit and wish you the best of luck racing crits. Having tried to make my cycling videos look good, I am amazed at how well you edit the NorCal channel. I have a wife that loves to bake cookies too so I have to ride a lot. It's not a bad life. Looking forward to watching your transformation to racing!
Thank you so much SoCal version hahaha. I do appreciate the kind words all joking aside. And thank you for appreciating the editing! I’m 31 years old and 108kg, very unhappy with my weight and looks, and I think I’m not in a good place mentally because of that. I’m starting to cycle and trying to do a calorie deficit. Just watching this video gave me an inspiration I can get into shape and be healthier.
Awesome video! I'm on a similar journey myself. Similar story, I gained 90 pounds over the course of 2020-2023. Bought my bike in April 2023 and have lost 42 pounds so far. I want to lose 70 more. Thank you for posting.

Although biking isn’t my interest, (due to the area not being very bike friendly) I will say that I do appreciate this video. Thank you. I’ll update this when I’m myself again
That is an amazing story! You do got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help! Glad this video could inspire!
Liking this channel, EJ!! Congrats on the weight loss. Looking forward to your next video.
Congrats EJ! Stoked for this new C2C! Hope to see more videos of you in the future! With Jeff’s guidance, you will be a beast of a cyclist in no time. Good luck on your trainings and rides, and most of all, stay safe!💯🤙🏽
Thank you so much!
Congrats on all the progress thus far. The pandemic messed us all up - glad to hear you got through it / to this point. Excited to follow the journey!
Thank you so much Michael!
Congrats on the amazing weightloss. Absolute pro in front of the camera! Thrilled to see more from you in the future.
Thank you so much!
Don’t forget: over eating is also an eating disorder.
Oh hai! Two channels!
I love this new channel! keep the vids coming and the training going!
Thank you!
Congrats!!! Thanks for sharing. I’m in the same boat now and it’s always great to see other people share their struggles. Very motivational.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to watch and listen to my story! You got this! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with your journey! You got this!
Congrats! I did the same thing last year, 268 to
That is so freakin awesome! I hope you're still crushing it on two wheels. I really really appreciate the support.
Hahahah thank you so much! I got lots of learning to do we will see
Great Video!!
@@norcalfullraces Keep kicking ass brother and thank you for being such a big inspiration!
My man! I *did* just happen on this video and I’m very grateful. You’ve motivated me to keep biking more.
Nice to meet you EJ, well done with the weight loss!
Nice! And cheers to the chef! We all need that support, cookies and ALL!
Thanks
I really appreciate you taking the time to listen to and watch my story! You should definitely hop back on the bike! You got it!
I can relate on gaining confidence after losing weight. Great job! I'm gonna be following your journey on both channels
That is awesome to hear John! Thank you for your support! :)
Better off lifting weights.
Cardio makes you eat like a fucken hog to get your glycogen.
Stoked to come on this journey with you through the power of the tubes. Good luck and go smash it dude!
Thank you Rory!
Agree. Looking forward to new episodes!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your support. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with your journey.
Truly inspiring EJ! Can’t wait to see you crush some races! Lets go!!!
Thank you Ryan! I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video!
@@norcalfullraces Thanks dude, appreciate it! just keep up to sweet content bro! looking forward to seeing your progress.
That is amazing to hear! I’m terribly sorry about the problems that arose but so happy this video could be a spark for you! Happy riding 🙏
Congrats on the weight loss man that is HUGE. Stoked to follow along the journey EJ!
Thank you so much Liam! I really appreciate your support!
Thank you!
This is so frickin cool. Cycling rocks for weight loss, looking forward to following along!
Thank you Dan! I really appreciate it!
Really excited for this channel! Congrats on the weight loss!
Thank you so much!
I’m on a weight journey myself right now. It’s amazing what your weight makes a difference on a bike. Like going farther distance and climbing hills when you’re lighter.
This is going to be such a great series! I’m already hooked. Congrats on the progress so far man! 🔥
❤️❤️❤️
Looking forward to this video series. Great work so far and wishing you all the best for the future.
Thank you very much Howard!
I like the energy and feel of this channel! Looking forward to more content from you.
That's great man. I too lost some 30 odd pounds cycling in the last couple years, mostly in 2022. let's go!
Heck to the yes! Love to hear that man. Keep crushing it! Thank you for listening to my story!
Great job, EJ! Cucumber salad is a favorite here too. Put rice vinegar and red pepper flakes on it. This channel just popped up on my feed- just subscribed.
Thank you so taking the time out of your day to listen to my story. I really appreciate It! Ohhhhh that sounds good! Imma have to try that:)
Nice!!! Should get a ton of subscribers quick like. Excited to see your journey.
Thank you so much Jack! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and listen!
subbed and looking forward to seeing your progress under Jeff's training umbrella. Good luck and appreciate your honest and unfiltered look at your cycling motivation and feelings around it.
Thank you I appreciate you even taking the time to listen to my story. Stoked for the future!
Hmm NorCal Cycling 2... or LO CAL CYCLING?!? missed opportunity on the channel title. Cool content, looking forward to following along!
HAHAAHAHA dang it. I fumbled the bag on this one
I am stoked about your past/future progress! big kudos! keep spinning
Thank you so much!
This is awesome dude I was on my way down to my early high school weight then the pandemic hit and I gained it all back I’m slowly making progress back and this was inspiring
Well done man. Good luck on your journey!
suddenly u inspired me to do it again.
If there is anything I can do to help you on your journey please DM me!
weight loss = 80% nutrition, 20% exercise
I personally loathe cardio. But i love biking. It was the difference. Same diet, but 10 miles a day on the bike shifted me from caloric surplus to deficit.
It also gave me more breathing room in my diet to have higher protein levels, allowing me to preserve muscle mass while losing weight.
Truth! 100% discipline
52 years, began cycling seriously just before and during Covid. I fully agree of the benefits of cycling to mental health
Stoked to tune into these! Very admirable journey 🤘
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to tune in!
This man will be at the top!! EJ is an absolute GOAT! 🐐
Thank you brother!! 🙏
Looking forward to seeing your progress and hearing more of your story! Also cool to see you wearing Ride Bikes gear.
My boy Vegs sent it to me! He is an awesome dude! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen to my story! Thank you :)
Way ta' go!!!! Congrats!!!
Good job! I'm hovering in the 240s, but I have a hard ride, and it's straight to the burger joint after work
Thank you so much! You can do it! You can still eat burgers and lose weight!
Way to go man! Keep it up
Cycling is the best. Lost 5kg in fat in 10 days cycling from one end of UK to the other and all went from my waist. First time in 35 years saw my abs!
Love the content and the journey. I started gravel racing to lose weight and have finally plateau the weight loss, so I need to focus on diet. I can't out-ride my eating habits anymore.
Love the video and I’m looking forward to seeing your next one 👍
Well done. Will look forward to the vlogs
Good morning from Virginia, yes, the algorithm recommended this video to me. Congrats on your accomplishments!
Thank you so much! 😊
Wow! Great accomplishment and you’re super humble about it. 🎉👍🏼 great job!!
Thank you so much Shane. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and listen to the story! It means a lot! 😊
I was thinking about doing a full editing breakdown down the road is that something you'd want to see? Man I'll tell you what the house smelt like HEAVEN hahhha. Those dang sugar cookies hit the spot.
@@norcalfullraces I love to see how others edit. There’s so much variety in cycling videos from DKlein to SAFA that everyone’s videos are so unique.
I’m 31 years old and 108kg, very unhappy with my weight and looks, and I think I’m not in a good place mentally because of that. I’m starting to cycle and trying to do a calorie deficit. Just watching this video gave me an inspiration I can get into shape and be healthier.
Well done, I'm in a similar position, and this video came along at the right time. Looking forward to the upcoming episodes.

Awesome video! I'm on a similar journey myself. Similar story, I gained 90 pounds over the course of 2020-2023. Bought my bike in April 2023 and have lost 42 pounds so far. I want to lose 70 more. Thank you for posting.
Nice, down 20 myself. Can’t wait to watch the series and follow on videos. Yo! Was that a VC, Ride Bikes shirt at the end?
Congratulations! Keep up the good work on your journey! I appreciate your support! Yeah it was a VC shirt haha he hooked me up with some swag!
Hi EJ. Love the channel will be subbing. I’m also looking to lose a similar amount of weight, would love to see/ hear more about the daily foods and calorie deficits that worked for you. 👍🏻

You popped up as a recommendation.... a year later, but they fed it to me.
Just saw the main channel and came here to see what's up. Subscribed!
Well welcome! Thank you for the sub!
Congrats on the weight loss! Not sure if I missed this but what are using to determine your food intake calories? Is this through whoop also? Or maybe using another app? Thx
Thank you Erik! I really appreciate it! I base it off of what my whoop says is my output for the day so it varies from day to day!
