Using my phone for field videos proved to be problematic for several reasons. Firstly, the video quality was always slightly choppy, regardless of my efforts. Additionally, I had to set my phone to Do Not Disturb or Airplane mode to avoid interruptions from notifications while filming. There are numerous reasons to avoid using a phone for this purpose. I've just ordered a V10, and the deciding factor was the availability of a cage and accessories from SmallRig. With these enhancements, the V10 transforms into a practical field camera with a compact size, allowing for hassle-free filming in various locations.
I've just ordered one too yesterday. Same issues you mentioned regarding phone recording. I already own Fujifilm X-S10 and Samsung S23.. so looking forward to this one. And it looks so unique 😊❤ besides, its on sale!
Does Canon listen to videographers or vloggers whatsoever? The 6 year old Lumix LX10 is a 1-inch sensor camera which shoots 120fps and has a f1.4 lens with zoom.
the lumix stabilization was crap. this camera has better stabilization and its easier to hold, can be used as webcam. which vlogger cares for 120fps?. not many.
I love that this cam is super compact with a little stand for easy quick set up to capture moments in life. I think the price point is right for casual users like myself who dont want to carry a phone around for everything.
Cute camera. I think one thing that I regularly notice is this idea that vlogging cameras consistently have to avoid "pro" features like C-Log. I think it's worthwhile to max out the software features for even beginner level cameras because then they can also capture the audience of "competent videographers who just need a cheap or tiny behind the scenes camera" and can get something that easily plugs in to their existing, sophisticated workflows when needed. Don't hold back! Beginners will upgrade eventually when they want interchangeable lenses or image quality that isn't possible on a 1" sensor, so software features should be provided generously when the hardware is so constrained.
I agree. I'm looking for some C/D cams to use at weddings for wide angle safety coverage. Would prefer something that isn't a gopro (just from an aesthetic purpose) that also has long record times without overheating. I don't need a full frame camera with a large wide angle lense when I can just use something small, but that doesn't come off as a cheap gopro.
@@jmoralesh C-Log is surely just as performance intensive as a rec709 profile, both could be implemented by some primitive math or via a LUT, though it's plausible that maybe 10-bit encoding and high framerates could be a hardware limitation
1:20 the guest was not happy when the words "mobil phone" were spoken. He changed the subject, if you notice......... Although, at the price range of $450 the v10 is good for people that don't have the latest $800-$1000 phones that the Canon v10 can't compete with................ The V10 should be UNDER $399 so it is in the Action Cam/basic mobile phone space.
This camera is like it's been removed from a time capsule 1998 and I'm a huge Canon fan and owner. But for the lack of features and price tag. It's a hard pass on this one.
Why ND is a topic? They should produce similar adapters like their rf to ef with ND, but ef to ef plus nd and rf to rf with ND. Isnt that difficult right? ND must be outside addon manual solution, easy and simple.
So i waited and waited and had to watch the video till the end just for you to mention CLog3... please Canon please put CLog3 on there and we cannot wait till you make a new camera for you to put CLog3. Rather put it as a firmware update cause a great video is determined by its colors and also if you made this camera for beginners & vloggers to have fun with, i think that people would be even more excited about learning how to colourgrade and using advanced editing softwares like Davinci and premier pro then hopefully they would think about becomming future film makers. So startin small but having the ability to do it like a pro is motivating for me and so having Clog3 on there would make the Camera a complete slam dunk in my opinion and something to compete with sony vlogging cameras out there.
Does it have infinite focus? I vlog golf and thus it shouldn't focus on the person alone who is hitting. The ball needs to be seen too. To bad the 4k is not 60 fps or higher. But interesting cam. If an external mic would be used with the rig how many cm do you have until it's in frame and thus visible. Many questions but ... I'm quite interested.
Great to hear from a company man. I'm in the US, so will have to scour for the accessories. BTW, a kens cap should be in the box, not an accessory. Don't be soo cheap, Cannon!
Bravo for the unusual form factor and native streaming ability via USB C. But this lags far behind what the Samsung Galaxy and iPhone can already do, particularly in slow motion and HDR. This camera is good for kids, but serious vloggers are going to demand a lot more.
Nifty product for beginner and low budget bloggers, vloggers, and youtubers. The price point and size requires limitations. (But a lens cap would cost less than a quarter.) Like he says, Cannon has other products (at higher cost) for those who need or want them. Incidentally, Americans like accessories also.
I like the focus on audio quality. Inbuilt ND is awesome and the form factor overall with the cage. But not having dual pixel AF and no headphone jack to monitor that great sound, is a dealbreaker for me. Sadly.
I'm puzzled by this new camera. I'm struggling to like it if I'm honest and it is taking far too much effort. So I'll just acknowledge that it likely isn't for me and appreciate that it is probably useful for someone and leave it at that.
I like that canon is making cameras weird again but I don’t understand using old sensors and no dual pixel autofocus. It’s 2023… I don’t mean to be a hater but I don’t understand. You got a built in ND filter.. no autofocus.. a mic jack and no cold shoe mount. I guess this is better than no camera but it feels like we are moving farther away from what makes sense specs wise.. maybe I’m wrong idk
You are not wrong you are just holding back some serious swear words for the abomination and insult that this product is. Horrific is an understatement.

This would be amazing if you could record longer than 30minutes. I wonder if they're price protecting for a pro model. Personally I don't trust canon they've burned too many bridges they gotta work harder to earn their customers money.
Who is making decisions at canon? This wouldn't look out of place in 2005. The specs are ridiculous. Anyone who needs this is using a phone that is significantly more capable. Such a strange thing to release. Must've been difficult not to laugh at this dude!
