Talion pilot here-- the main issue with Mindcrank as I see it is that it's just a bad card outside of the lock with Bloodchief. You never want to play it without a live Bloodchief because all it does there really is feed Breach. Also, I'm totally with D-Grid there. I agree the deck does still need to win at some point, and having a few cards like Malevolent Hermit and D-Grid helps make that possible.
Cedh decks are built to fight and win against cedh decks. Put a goodstuff value deck with a high chunk of removal in the mix and they flounder trying to figure out what to do.
Casual decks win because cEDH players will shut each other down in order to answer spells that straight up win the game. If cEDH players didn't play ay interaction and just went for their combos, it wouldn't go nearly as well for the goods stuff value decks.
@LemorasCards ya I had four of my buddies travel out there from here in AZ and he did the best but super proud of all of them for playing against some big players in our community.
I think as more cards are printed with power creep on them for sales, there is greater opportunity for decks like scion. High powered edh is edging closer and closer to competing in cedh tournaments. Cant wait for that day!
Hey its the Inalla player here. I just want to clarify some things about why we all decided to draw the top 4 instead of playing it out. So I will admit I am the one that offered a split initially but i just wanted to split the cash and still play on stream. That way we all won the same amount of money and we would only be playing for the top deck championship points as well as for the stream and what not. So I asked the scion player if he was down to split the cash and he was cool with it but the talion player was in a weird spot. The talion player was half and half and he said he was down to split but if we split then he wanted to go home or we just all play for the whole thing rather than split anything. He was kind of half and half with the decision and we didnt want to goad him or force him to pick whatever the rest of the guys decided and higher even came up and said theres no pressure and not to worry about the stream or anything like that so that was some nice reassurance. In the end, the talion player wanted to split and leave and so did all of us really and so we asked the blue farm player what he wanted to do because he was the last one to decide and he was down for whatever we all wanted to do since he had the most points in the swiss so he would have gotten all the points for 1st place anyways so in that position I can tell he didnt care too much since he was on top anyways. I know theres a ton of people that are mad about us splitting and some people don't agree that anyone won at all and etc, the way I see it is, it was a super long day of magic for everyone there and all of us in the top 16 and top 4 won something. Being in the top 4 I felt like that was a win in my eyes (as a personal goal not because I think I actually won the event being in top 4 but I was happy with my result so I saw it as a win for myself) and one of the top 16 games was an hour and a half over time (not my table but the blue farm table) so it was very stressful and tiring for that player and just everyone in top 16 and top 4 in general so I didnt want to force people to play and then just lose on stream if I did happen to lose. It would have been very demoralizing for me and honestly the extra $200 we got paid for my trip and I got extra for cards I needed so the cash was worth it for me in the long run. I know I dont really need to apologize for anything since it was just between me and the other players but I just felt like I need to explain the reasoning behind our decision and give some clarity because I understand all the backlash towards how the event ended. Hope this gave some more clarity, but if you read through everything, I appreciate you lol.
At the end of the day it was your game to play and decision to make. I'm not sure why people have such strong opinions about it, maybe if something other than TnK was the winner they'd have less complaints haha. Excellent stuff on the top 4!
@LemorasCards Thank you for the kind words! Also, thanks for breaking down Inalla and making great videos! I put a ton of time into Inalla and I love all the crazy combo potential she has. Everyone thought I was crazy for adding in cursed totem but I'm glad you understand the tech lol. Looking forward to the next event and to your next video!
Great breakdown on Tymna Jeska. I can tell you've played the deck or played against it a lot haha. Thanks for covering the events keep up the great videos :)
Aether channeler combos with dockside in Inalla if dockside creates at least 6 treasures. And I'm almost sure that Emry acts as a second Brain Freeze once you have breach
im surprised the scion list doesnt run worldgorger dragon/animate dead/scourge of valkas. the only card you actually need in hand for that one is animate dead.
I really think that dauthi is incorrect in Talion, I have played a lot of games with the deck but mnemonic betrayal has been the better card for me and dauthi is actively bad for betrayal.
It's a bit more exciting than Tymna/Thrasios was when it was dominant, but yeah this being the era of the most competition also having such a clear best deck can be a bit uninteresting.
@NickNicolay-ih4zi it's all good, it's weird cause yeah it's hard to say they really won, but they did have the standings and that's what they agreed to. Wish we would've got a final game.
@@LemorasCards so do I! My buddies and I all traveled up for the event, my buddy lost in top 16 and we all went outside for fresh air before going back in and watching the final pod and all of a sudden the lights are turning off and the store was closing lol. They announced they drew and closed up. 🤣 We were all pretty bummed.
Which of these decks was your favorite? Let me know down below!
The scion deck was cool to see! ❤
Playing off meta good stuff in Cedh is fun. They are tuned to play against each other and are weak against other strategies.

Inalla:
Techno + Necro 'mancers = Infinite treasures + hasty mancers. Wins under RoL
Dockside + Aether Channeler = infinite Treasures + Hasty Aethers
cEDH is a mentality not a set in stone card list.
Preaching to the choir
Cedh decks are built to fight and win against cedh decks. Put a goodstuff value deck with a high chunk of removal in the mix and they flounder trying to figure out what to do.
Put 3 of them in the mix and the turbo deck just wins on turn 2.
Casual decks win because cEDH players will shut each other down in order to answer spells that straight up win the game. If cEDH players didn't play ay interaction and just went for their combos, it wouldn't go nearly as well for the goods stuff value decks.
The old strategy of attacking with a 5/5
My buddy Shane was the 9th place t&k player!!! I'm super proud of him and happy his deck can get some shine on it from this video!!
That's awesome!

Great curated choice of decks! 💪🏻😎🙌🏻

Glad I at least did an okay job haha
I remember when Lab Maniacs gatekept what was viable with that stupid spreadsheet 🤣🤣
I only vaguely remember this, ill have to try to dig it back up and take a look lol

I really need to put the list together and get some games on it, looks sick.
Love this formar so much ty!!🎉

I love the laquatus tournament reference, I played that event too lol
Dang no love for the 5th place blue farm with all different flex slots 😂
love seeing Scion!
The scion deck was cool to see! Its not Gaddock Teeg cool but still cool ❤
okay that Scion deck is SPICEY
ah yes, the 10k "casual" decks. lmao
Tymna\\Kraum has to be the worst thing to ever happen to cedh it’s so repetitive and uninteresting to play or play against
It's a bit more exciting than Tymna/Thrasios was when it was dominant, but yeah this being the era of the most competition also having such a clear best deck can be a bit uninteresting.
Gotta watch out for rogue decks. They'll get you.
can't sleep on anything in cEDH.
I like this format a lot. Keep it up Matt!
Glad to hear it!
Watched another podcast and heard the Top 4 actually split
Yep, had a little segment in here talking about it. Not the coolest for coverage but that's a lot of Magic to play in one day so don't blame them
I hate how they say people won, they drew the final pod.
Well I say that in the video.
@@LemorasCards sorry, I know you did, I’m just saying when people talk about the event, I was not saying YOU, I apologize for the mix up.
