    Drake - love your videos, so instructive. How to you get oxidation out near raised letters on the hull of the boat. I have a Hurricane boat and the letters on the hull are raised about 1 cm from the surface. This makes it nearly impossible to get close using a rotary buffer. Appreciate any advise you can provide.

    Drake, you should really give the smoove line a shot one day. Thier product is amazing and really puts some work in on oxidation. Im not a detailer per say but I've saved some sketchy gelcoat with it in my boat restoration company.

    Enjoying your videos, has helped a lot understand maintaining our boat. We have a 1986 Carver Mariner that we will be selling next year. We just bought a 1995 Carver 355 AFT and I want to make sure I use the correct products next year before putting in the water. The boat will be in fresh water on the river in MN. The hull still looks shiny and I was wondering if all I need to do is wash and then use Jescar power lock+ to protect the gel coat. Last year I used Maguires compound and then wax on my 1986 boat but has a lot of water spots after we pulled it out. Planning on using the starke venom appt remover before selling it. Just want to make sure I am maintaining our new boat properly. Thanks!!

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the hull is shiny, just applying the jescar power lock will be fine! The venom will take off the water spots for sure!

    Hey great video! You talked about having tried a bunch of different compounds and polishes in the video and I was wondering if you had tried 3Ms new perfect-it line up? I’ve been using that for a while and it works pretty good for me but the stuff you use seems to work super well so I was curious as to how they compared

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3m works pretty good, but I feel they don’t finish great! Menzerna finished super nice! I’m also in the process of test starke yacht care compounds and polish and so far they have been very nice!

      I noticed that you used the orange lake country pad? You normally use the grey pad with the menzerna 400.
      What made you go with the orange one this time?
      Also what’s the advantage of using the flex 3401 vs a DA polisher?
      As always your videos are much appreciated!! 👍🏻

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the orange because I didn’t need to cut as much.
      The grey is more aggressive.
      The flex 3401 is a much better machine for polish because it will not stall or stop spinning when you apply pressure.
      The da will stop spinning.
      It will allow you to work faster and apply more or less pressure when needed

    Have you ever looked into a spotless rinse system to remove the minerals from the water and prevent water spots or do you just get them up before they dry. I know in Florida you can move one for just a second and they will dry up on you. On the topic of water do you worry about getting hose marks on the gunnels, do you have a special hose or just iso alc the marks? Great videos

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have thought about getting the filter, but it would be hard to lug that thing around from marina to marina.. but it could be done.
      I’m usually very careful with the hose not to pull it across anything, or you can get a ZERO - G hose and you wont have any issues.

    Seriously, just tripped into this channel. You are amazing!! I’ve watched several so far and about to buy product’s via your amz links. couple questions:
    1) it seems like most of the products you use can be performed in direct sunlight? Agreed?
    2) so after step two ( hitting with the Mezz 400) do you really wash again with Dawn? Before the next step. Wouldn’t that strip off all the hard work with the 400 stuff?
    Thanks Drake. Super excited that I found this channel. Got to wait 4 more months before I get to try these steps. Boat is in Boston, MA and it’s not warm here right now. Lol

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching!
      Yes they are all fine in direct sunlight, all products work best in cool temps but it will still work.
      2 the menzerna 400 actually polishes the surface. Washing it will dawn will remove the oils in the polish to help make the wax stick better. It will not hurt any of your work if it was done correctly.

    Do you always wash the boat after polishing and before applying a wax or sealant?

    in the beginning of this video you briefly touched on a question I have had for some time now. How do you guys do boats in the water, my impression from your comments were that you don't you require the boat to come out if its anything below the rub rail. Am I correct and if not how many polishers have you dropped in the water over the years? LOL

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I require the boat to be hauled out todo the hull. Working on a floating dock sucks! Ha
      I have had about 3 machines go into the water ha

      Agreed!! I did a boat in the water ONCE and never again. Customers will beg you and try to convince you to do it to save them money. Wash rack or trailer. Period.

    Up north most of the boats are put into storage during the winter months. This is the prime time to prep/buff/ and detail your boat to prepare for the short boating season, as it is only around 4 months. There is no way to "wash" the boat's while in storage and they store them so close together you can't get to everything. Can you do a video of a detail "buff/wax" for boat while in storage, poor lighting typically and confined space?

    Why would the customer not want this boat coated vs just a sealant? Is cost really the only factor?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, A regular polymer sealant application is way less expensive than a ceramic job! Only down side is the sealant won’t last as long as the ceramic! Ha

    I came searching for this because I'm pretty sure we got fired from a 40 viking that I've been doing for 3 years, my partner sprayed down the helm and seats and customer was not happy and very rude, I walked off from the boat because of how my partner felt, the husband and wife literally was speaking to us like we had no clue, saying you cannot spray down a helm or seats, I had to google and TH-cam to make sure I was correct that everything on a boat is water proof, I mean they go on the water why wouldn't it be!?!?!
