- We went up to the Omarama saddle with a view to do a 200km+ but with the wind on the stronger side I opted to take a later launch in the hope it would drop enough to fly the 15km back to Omarama. Instead I had a really nice flight past Omarama, on to Twizel and landed at the Pukaki airport.
Awesome video and commentary, thanks for sharing, makes it so much more interesting !
Thanks, good to hear you enjoy 🙂.
Awesome flight!!

Awesome conditions ! Thanks for sharing a really great flight !
Thanks for sharing! Fun to see hg in NZ.
No problem. It’s fun flying NZ
@@petehelliwell what’s the most common route for a 200km task? Here in California it’s from LonePine to Benton
@@Vl7248 there isn’t a ‘normal’ 200km task as it’s rarely on for it in NZ. The record is currently 202km from Queenstown (coronet peak) to the head of lake Tekapo. Have a look here and you will be able to see what we have been up to this season so far 🤓 www.xcontest.org/newzealand/ranking-hg-open/
Just getting into the sport, I've gotta say you're easily my favorite hang gliding youtuber. I love how you show the flight tracker throughout the video. And your landings are always so fucking ridiculously smooth. Great work. I hope to soar like you one day.
Hey, Awesome to hear. I’m glad you like the videos and i hope you get something out of them!
Good look with the starting of your flying career. Good landing come with lots of practice and keeping current 🙂🤙🏼

Do you do this sort long distance trips often, and how do you go about getting back to where you came from? Do you get a friend to pick you up or is there a service that transfers people in central otago region? Cheers I'm in Nelson area.
How did John go?
He flew down the hawkduns to mt Ida and up to the Twizel end of the Ben moors and then back to launch.
