i like your video for the calm pacing and attention to detail and also that you are the first one i have found that uses screws instead of nails

I don't have tile to remove, just exposed rafter tails under new wood fascia that roofers installed. It seems I have to figure out a way to sand some of the wood so paint can be applied on the tails. Doesn't have to be pretty, I don't want to add soffit if I don't have to. Older home 60's block. Any suggestions

Well, without seeing exactly what your issue is, it's hard to say. If you only have a small amount of surface dryrot. I'd start by pressure washing the area. Once dry, scrape out any dryrot, and Treat the remaining good wood with a "wood hardener" that treats and prevents dryrot. Then you can fill any holes with a wood filler.( make sure to get one for exterior) . Then sand, primmer and paint. I hope this helps you

There is NO such thing as, 'DRY ROT.' this is brown rot...
Did you find and repair the, 'moisture,' source/cause of the rot first... before your repair???
Paint first before replacing... get it right before spreading rubbish procedures...

You are correct, it is Brown rot. I use the term "dry rot" because those without a lot of experience, have not heard of Brown rot.
Of course I found the cause. The cut ends of the board had not been sealed and allowed moisture in, that is usually the case.
