I can’t tell you how much fun it was dancing in a club in the 80s. Nothing like it
Best times of my life ❤
And the great thing was there was something for everybody. It's as though every genre of music was experiencing its golden age at the same time.
@@thebeardedseeker5633 Exactly! So many genres with excellent music, all at the same time; it was terriffic
It was the best! We need that now! They need to bring back clubs and dancing! Everyone got along and was just having fun! Diverse crowds and never any problems!! It would help bring people together for sure!! I miss those days. There's nothing as fun to do anymore! No one's having fun.
That bass-line just churning your guts. You are so right.
Renee and Angela had a strong slow jam together called "You Don't Have To Cry" 🔥
Finally! Some Angela Winbush. Please check out her solo stuff. The song "Angel" will blow you away, please make sure you watch the video. She's contained in this song. Her true vocal range is phenomenal! Wow...what a nice Christmas surprise for me. I love her voice so much...thank you for reacting to Rene and Angela.🙂
I was about to give up on this channel. Black female singers are at the back of the bus. Even legends like Sarah Vaughan get zero reactions while they sift through mediocre singers. No reactions to Toni Braxton either.
@@blackblake3658 Toni Braxton is great, this one is not that good. Heaps of good stuff out there but a lot of lower end unheard of artists coming through lately. Need to get back to the bangers and big artists
I would love to see their reaction to her song Angel and the video is a must!!!!
@@seanlowe4785 this song doesn't showcase Angela's vocal range the way her solo songs do. Anyone who knows Angela Winbush knows she's underrated but up there with some of the greats in talent.
@@craigreed1638 yes! The way that woman contorts her face to get those sounds out always fascinated me...she sings with her whole body.
That is the legendary Angela Winbush. Check out her song, Angel. You will be astounded at her vocal range.
I'm a disabled veteran I have no family I am all alone thank you for being here you always bring a smile to my face and make my heart feel so much better. I don't think you realize just what you mean to some of us. Even though I am alone I don't know anyone here in Stillwater Oklahoma I don't feel so alone when I listen to you guys. God bless you have a wonderful merry Christmas your friend David
They got me through the pandemic. I never watched TH-cam prior. Glad they got you through too.
God Bless you for your services.
Thank you for your service. We are all never alone. Believe that.
This is your song mate ……”I’ll be good”
Fun fact Rene was a member of the group Ollie Baba in 1978 and Angela was a background singer. While the group had one album the musicians who play on the album feature Ray Parker Jr, Billy Preston, Nathan Watts and Wah Wah Watson. Rene had a writer's credit on the track Something Special the album is on TH-cam. Angela when on to have a great solo career and at one time produced and married Ronald Isley! Yes of the Isley Brothers. 😎
Loved the Isley Bros
Another duo they should do is the legendary songwriting husband and wife team of Ashford and Simpson with their hit "Solid." I love that song to this day.
And can anybody guess why Jay and Amber haven't done Christmas songs this year?
Yes Please! They were like two angels glowing in concert💥
The multi talented Angela Winbush! Singer, writer, musician. She is all that!
80's R&B was such a vibe! I feel so fortunate to have grown up then.
You and me both. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Angela Winbush is a immensely talented artist: singer, songwriter, musician, composer, producer. Her vocal range is phenomenal and you should check out her song, “Angel;” I think you’ll both be blown away.
Dennis Edwards “Don’t Look Any Further” 🎵👍🏽
Awesome song! SOS Band Just Be Good To Me and Shannon Give Me Tonight are worth your time! You'll enjoy them both! 😊
Also SOS Band Just The Way You Like It
This song bring back some good times for me when I was going to the clubs this is a really good song. This song had us dancing on the floor sweating our jheri curls out. Fun fact, Angela Winbush wrote songs for the Isley Brothers and then was once married to Ron Isley
THIS is the R&B what we listened to in Brooklyn in the early 80’s; not the “pop” stuff so much. If you want to know more of what we listened and grooved to at house parties and clubs, PLEASE react to “HEARTBEAT” by Taana Gardner; pure fire, slow killer beat 🔥
This duo passed me by in the 70's. They are awesome!, fantastic vocals! Thanks for introducing me to a new old duo.
Angela Winbush had several solo songs, check out Angel to get the full impact of her stellar vocal range.
I hope and pray they do this song.
They have got to hear "Angel"! That's a whole 'nother level right there.
she also was successful as a writer and producer for other artists like Stephanie Mills, The Isley Brothers, Lalah Hathaway....
80s funk at its finest and a club banger.👌👌
Yarbrough & Peoples are another 80's R&B duo for you. You should check out their hit song Don't Stop The Music.
Rene & Angela are legendary for their 80s hits! Absolute classic and their catalogue of hits is so long - rocked to in the clubs all over the world!!!!
I think there's a sequel called "I'll Be Bad" lol. Check out "Your Smile" "You Don't Have To Cry" "I Love You More" "My First Love" "Angel" "Imaginary Player" "Come My Way" "Save Your Love"
YEAH! Nothing much to say here! Everything has already been said by RENE' AND ANGELA admirers! They were a great duo who broke many hearts when they disbanded. But 2 gifted singer, songwriter, producers. And ANGELA WINBUSH is one of the greatest voices ever in R&B! If I had suggestions they would be YOUR SMILE by RENE AND ANGELA 2. MY FIRST LOVE by RENE' AND ANGELA 3. ANGEL by ANGELA WINBUSH! Great Video! Great Reaction!
Oh my goodness! Yes! You've suggested all the songs I would have. You can't beat this music. All these need to be explored next.
OH MY GOD! Finally! So normally I watch you guys on my Chromecast on my TV. It's a great way to watch but you can't really make a comment that way. So right after this reaction was over I got right on my laptop to write this. This was one of my jams in the 80's. I love this song. Rene & Angela have more hits but this is probably their biggest one and it doesn't disappoint. I knew you'd love it. If you really want to see what Angela can do, listen to their hit "Your Smile" she shines in that song. But this song is just so good. When it came on in the clubs EVERYONE got on the dance floor! Thank you for this! Also please, please start listening to the Time. You won't be disappointed.
Rene and Angela were so so good and this was and still is one of my favorite songs - they had several hits that are all in my playlist. Angela's voice is one-of-a-kind.
This was a big hit in '85 "When I'm good I'm bad, when I'm bad I'm better". The '70s and '80s was the time for dance music, other hits from the '80s to check out:
"Keni Burke - Risin' To The Top",
"Real To Reel - Love Me Like This",
"SOS Band - The Finest",
"Alexander O'Neal & Cherrelle - Saturday Love",
"Surface - Falling In Love".
There are so many great tunes from back then but these are great ones to react to.
Definitely Risin’ to the Top, with its seminal bass line. I would add to your list Oliver Cheatham’s Get Down Saturday Night.
@@Wordsmyth8 Thanks, a great suggestion.
So catchy. The whole album was very good. Angela Winbush has a great voice.
This is another married couple (formally married) who made a fabulous duo. *CORRECTION* - They never married, but let people think they did. After being corrected by others (thank you) 👍🏽 I did some digging. It turns out that they didn't even get along, but chose to let fans think they were good friends and more. Angela said they had a lawsuit between them, too and stopped speaking.
Yes, I know she was married to Ron Isley. At least I got that right. 🙂
I remember being in high school and slow dancing to their songs. 🙂
I suggest you check out their songs...
"Your Smile"
"You Don't Have to Cry"
Angela Winbush as a solo artist... wow!
She's amazing!
"Angel"
"It's the Real Thing" (you may have done that one.)
They never married one another. They were best friends until the relationship soured. Great singing team though.
@@lawannalw And when that relationship went south, man did it go south.
@@helgar791 Yep. I was FLOORED when I watched their "Unsung".
I second every last one of these songs.
@@taneshah.1260 I've never seen it, but I know the gist of it. But Rene couldn't help it. Just because he was born a dick, scumbucket, butthole....
Finally, a song I suggested! Thank you for reacting to this hit tune. Stick with me for other great recommendations. Next, a super energetic, joyful post-disco tune by GQ called Disco Nights (Rock Freak). You will love it!
Another couple)(legendary as songwriters before hitting the road) - Ashford and Simpson. Two angels in concert live - 👍😉
Rene and Angela were a stellar duo from the 80'S... Angela Wimbush is a sonic singularity with unusual range and talent. Rene isn't a slouch, neither with his writing prowess. Check out their other hit, " YOU DONT HAVE TO CRY"!
check out "Save Your Love For #1"
Woo-hoo 🎉🎉
I've been waiting for you guys to react to this one for so long, I temporarily gave up requesting it.
You should listen to 'Your smile' and 'I love you more' also by them. On that note, please listen to Angela (Winbush) as a solo artist with her song 'Angel'. Her vocals will blow you away! Fun fact: she usedbto be married to Ronald Isley.
One last request (unrelated to them but related to R&B): MINT CONDITION!!! Please get this R&B band into your life with 'What Kind of Man Would I be' and 'Breaking My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)'. You'll be happy you did!
Much love from 🇨🇦!
One of the coldest opening riffs/tracks ever produced. Bring in the lyrics & vocals & this is a grand slam banger of a song.
Throwback to my high school days! Thanks for sharing!
Dance floor would play this then ''Just be good to me'' Cool smooth dancin' could show your potential playmate, that night, that you could control yourself as well as go wild, because we all know, your moves on the dance floor reflect your moves between the sheets. Lots of kicking and twisting here. LOL !!!!
Wow!!! Forgot about this jam. Played the heck outta this back in the day. 😊
Jay & Amber, for great 1950’s songs check out Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers "Why Do Fools Fall in Love", "Goody Goody" and “The ABC's of Love“!!! Frankie was age 13/14 when recording these doo-wop hits!!
Diana Ross did a cover of “Why Do Fools Fall In Love” in 1981.
React to "You don't have to to cry" by Rene and Angela!
You’re just scratching the surface with Angela Winbush in this song! She really shows her range and talent in the song ‘Angel.’ ‘Your Smile’ is another great one by her.
Finally YOU REACTED TO THIS CLASSIC!!! 🤘🤘🤘 TRUE EXAMPLE OF SYNT POP AND A LOT OF BASS which was the staple of every 80s song.
I Love This Song!!! Thanks for reacting to one of my favorites 💜
Angela Winbush\ your smile and Angel you guys must listen im telling you!!!!!
Their song(save your love for your #1) from the same album as this song is one of the 1st R&B songs to include rap,,,,which was done by Curtis blow
Amber looks like "please don't send that sparkly coat & tie". 😂
You got that too.
I listen to this song almost everyday. Great song. High Tension’s High Tension. Thank you very much.
rene and angela windbush was a great duo especially in the 1980's when music was such a great to just enjoying life and make you happy hearing and happy holidays and merry christmas to you both your family .
Yes the 80s was my era that brings back so many memories when times were so much simpler and the song lyrics had so much meaning and you could understand and relate to ,
This is a good song to dance to, gotta good beat to it.👍👏👏👏🎼🎵🎶 Merry Christmas Jay & Amber! ♥️🎄♥️
Skipped rope for thousands of rounds in Boxing gyms to this song and so many great ones like it back in 1985! This song would be pumpin loud in the gyms "Boom Box" or the Roller Skating rinks on the weekends! Best of times.
Jay and Amber, Rene and Angela’s music was in heavy rotation during my overnight shifts several months ago when I first discovered your channel. I was obsessed with them and Atlantic Starr during the early to mid 80s. You’ll love ‘I Love You More’, my favorite.
Also, ‘Angel’ ‘’You Don’t Have To Cry’ ‘My First Love’ ‘Your Smile’ ‘Imaginary Playmates’
Omg. This is on the list of my favorite songs. However, I recently realized she says, "When I'm at my best, there's no room to guess." Now I can't remember which WRONG lyrics I had been singing for almost 40 years!
Best times. I miss them so much ❤
Angela Winbush is an outstanding vocalist. As already stated, her solo hit "Angel" is a must listen. Side note: Angela married Ronald Isley, lead singer for the Isley Brothers. They did some songs together. Angela is also a songwriter. My favorite song written by her is "I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love," performed by Stephanie Mills.
I recently went on a cruise on the river Thames with 80s soul and funk - absolute perfect music
After they split up, Angela Winbush went on to have a solo career . Check her hit song "Angel"
Love this kind of music 🎶🎶🎶🎶
One of my top five R&B songs of that era. Their other hits "I Love You More" and "You Don't Have To Cry" were just almost good. However, Angela Winbush doing her solo hit "Angel" showed her to have one of the unique and spectacular voices of that era. Thanks to whoever recommended this great cut.
Funny....I guess you're American. 'You don't have to cry' I don't think is widely remembered here. 'Save your love (for #1')' is their other 'hit' here, although this was much for people into more not widely known rnb I guess. And of course it had Kurtis Blow on the track.
I Love You More" a musical masterpiece 😊
@@PainInTheS Yes, I forgot "Save Your Love", but not because I'm American, but because at my age I'm forgetful. I do indeed have all these records on 12" singles (more than one in fact), and I do still have over 2000 12" singles from that and other dance eras. But thanks for the backhanded semi-compliment. Indeed, I would suggest that I, because I know of them doing "Your Smile", and "You Don't Have To Cry", am far more aware of the deeper cuts of American R&B bands than you. But, next time, try not to insult an American about an American band, singing American songs, produced in American studio's by American engineers and producers, originally pressed in American pressing plants, using American distributors. Kind of a bad look.
@@helgar791 The funny thing is it wasn't meant as an insult. Oftentimes things are a hit over here and not in America and vice versa....really happens, or happened a lot.
But you taking it absolutely the wrong way says more about you than me. And going on to remark thinking you know more than me hits you being American really home....it's as we know you all over the world. Not an insult but fact.
So thanks for the giggles. 😄
@@PainInTheS Yes, well it came over as an insult, especially to someone that was there at the very beginnings of R&B, here in Brooklyn, NY. Let me quote you "although this (song) was much for people into more not widely known rnb I guess". That is called by any definition a passive/aggressive insult and by extension, your feeling of superiority. You seem oblivious to it, as if it were your blind spot. At best it seems a bit of chest pounding. Of course, I didn't make it part of any comment involving European's, did I? But I will say the entire passive/aggressive insult and backhanded compliment, typical of the European persona of superiority while at the same time being blind to it, says more about you than me. It's as European's are known all over the world. It's not an insult, but fact.
This song is/was such a BANGER! That baseline always pulls me in right off the top. Another good song to check out by them is “I Love You More”.
I was wondering when you would get to this one! Yeah; classic 80s.
Such a groove!!!!
That is a banger of a song
You guys picked a winner with this gem, you really break down all aspects of the vid, clothes, rhythm, message in the song, just great. 2 other greats ones from the '80s are "Heaven Sent" by bassist Stanley Clarke with vocals by Howard Hewitt from Shalimar, and " First True Love Affair" by Jimmy Ross, both heavy on the bass for a bass freak like me. Great review guys.
Nothing like it... that vibe. Electronic bass. And that soul jammin funkiness.
Was at a wedding earlier this month and this got folks on the dance floor. Such a smooth jam.
In 1996 Foxy Brown "I'll Be" featuring Jay-Z sampled this song. 🔥🔥
Joints like these are the epitome of true R&B.
1985 or '86. I believe I own a CD of theirs with this song on it.
Another fun couple was Ashford & Simpson, A forgotten 1979 track called "Nobody Knows" is my favorite...
The 80’s was the era of great R&B/Funk duets from Ashford & Simpson, Yarborough & Peoples, Johnny Gill & Stacy Lattisaw, Dennis Edwards & Siedah Garrett, Babyface & Karyn White. Bands like SOS Band, Midnight Star, Atlantic Starr also had great slow jams and upbeat duets.
Check out Angela Winbush other classic tracks like Angel. She is one of the best vocalists in R&B,she has a wide vocal range.
Hell yeah! They're fantastic, but Angela's solo projects was great too. She was married to Ronald Isley from The Isley's. They did a video w/Lil Kim.
their album "Street Called Desire" is fantastic but it's so sad they started having trouble getting along and stopped working together. They'd also started working as producers for other artists..
Angela Winbush is truly an amazing singer! She broke up with Rene and went solo (a lot of drama apparently), and it was good for us, because she dropped some really good hits that showcased just how good she can really sing! Like, "Your Smile", "Angel", "You Had A Good Girl".
Drama is an understatement. There’s a great article from 1988 I just read from the LA Times. She claims he was violent with her. He admits they argued but denies hitting her.
René and Angela is one of my favorite duos. Back in the day i used to have their first and second vinyl albums. Guys you should check out "Everything We Do", Imaginary Playmates" and "Come My Way" which years later was recorded by The Isley Brothers when she was married to Ronald Isley, she also produced, played keyboard and sung backing vocals on the IB's album "Spend The Night", the title track worth a listen.
The 15 year old soul girl still in me thanks you for this classic! 🙌🏼🫶🏼
They have killer vocals.Check out "Your Smile"by Rene and Angela
sample was used in foxy brown feat jay z song, "i'll be"
Angela Winbush had some solo his after they broke up. She was also married to Ron Isley (lead singer of the Isley Brothers) for a while. Listen to "Power of Love" by Angela Winbush.
Happy Holidays to All those whom observe Peace be with you
Oh yes
What a banger this is!!!!!
Miss those days, so glad I got to grow up in the this time....
Oh, yes...I remember it well.
One of the best 80s' dance songs is 'Yarbrough & Peoples - Don't Stop The Music'. So, so unique.
Great Great Great Beat from Rene and Angela. D Train and “Keep on “ or “Keep giving me Love” great strong Beats great message Evelyn “champagne”. King another great beat “ I’m in Love”
I wish that they had never broken up. I love them! I still jam to this song!
80's music is so unique. The genres expanded with the addition of the synths. I'm so thankful I was young during that time. There's never been another decade like it before or since. I don't think it CAN be repeated.
80's suggestions - "Solid" by Ashford And Simpson. "Zoom" by Fat Larry's Band.
Jocelyn Brown "Somebody else's Guy" INSTANT CHAIR DANCING!
"Secret Rendezvous" by Rene and Angela was my favourite song from this group😊
Great duo. They have several hits and she had solo success. He wrote songs for Michael Jackson.
So happy you guys are reviewing this. I love Angela Winbush. She is amazing. She can sing, write and produce. Rene and Angela are almost deep cuts nowadays.
When I saw the title, I thought this was going to be a cover of the 1970s hit by the Brothers Johnson, I’LL BE GOOD TO YOU. It turns out that I had never heard this song before, but did enjoy it. Please put the Brothers Johnson on your list for the future.
So good being in the clubs in those days
AMEN!
"You Don't Have to Cry" is a slow jam classic by them.
The year I graduated high school! Everybody was crankin’ this song on the sound system back in the day!😁
Love this group and Angela Winbush as a solo artist! Please react to 'Angel' by Angela. Also 'Your Smile' by Rene and Angela!
Happy Holidays ! Yes, nice suit! It's OK. Thanks.
What a jam old school R&B right here
I'm so happy you guys got to this duo. I've been trying for Angela Winbush's song "Angel" for Female Fridays for almost a year, it seems. She has such a wonderful voice. Rene' and she were a great duo but she's awesome as a solo artist too.
I've been trying for as long as their channel has been up! We Angela fans need to stick together and help boost the requests here in the comment section.
Love this song sooo much😊
Angela was mr big Ronald Isleys wife for a while....she made her wave, she produced two tracks from Janet jackson debut album.
my christmas wish came true. you finally reacted to one my patreon requests. now the mission for 2024 is the other two. much love from Munich, Germany! ❤
Cannot believe this record is nearly 40 years old
Thanks for playing this I forgot about this 80s jamm! Don't know if you both noticed the keyboard turning when he walked away from it while she was singing I will be better
