Hi there are 2 models of the XR80J you have the normal XR80J and the XR84J. The XR84J is exclusive to Currys in the UK. From my research the only difference I can see from the 2 models is the 84J has microphones built into the TV for google assistance. Also the 84J has a different panel or settings as it has a “Rich Color Enhancer”.
Can you do a video comparing the 2 different models as it only seems that in the UK we have the 2 models you can see the specs on the Sony UK and Currys website. As I am stuck on what model to purchase as I don’t know what difference having this “Rich Color Enhancer” (under COLOUR ENHANCEMENT on the spec sheet) would do to the picture quality. I even called Sony TV support and they didn’t realise they had the 2 different models of the same TV, they are both the same price. So your knowledge would help us decide what is a better TV to purchase the 80J or 84J ???????
    Your help is much appreciated

Unfortunately a lot of it is way over my head, so my question is, if I go into settings and totally mess them up, is there a factory default setting I can launch to get the TV back to how it was when it arrived?
Update: Sony’s customer service ROCKS! Just call them and they take you through whatever issue you may have! My TV is all setup, even the extra backlit remote I bought! IT’s even setup on my Apple HomeKit! Absolutely LOVE how their customer service staff can log into your TV (with your permission) and make settings changes! Too cool! I love this TV!

HDMI 2.1, which still doesn’t work correctly? A fix for near black chrominance overshoot, which they initially refused to implement and then copied from Panasonic?
Sony definitely had its time where they were the leading brand in terms of innovation. However, in the past years the only things noteworthy they have come up with regarding TVs were acoustic surface and their image processors.
Besides, that doesn’t change that fact that Sony’s Customer service (at least here in Europe) doesn’t deserve its name and that they screwed up a key factor in picture quality, namely near black gamma. While LG also has its problems their, it can be corrected there, whereas there is no way to achieve near black gamma with Sony’s new OLED. So there is no clear winner here. Well, you asked... :-).. In my priority order...
    1. I would very much like to get an idea of heat being given off byTV's and monitors you test Vincent. I live in a small flat and even ventilation is limited.
    2. I'd also like to know whether the sets have external noises like buzzes or hums. Especially when relevent to HDR or brightness controls.
    3. How the sets fare in a bright & dark room setting including reflection issues.
    4. I would value knowing that you hear no such noises from the speaker/screen when watching, listening, recording a programme or movie on the TV - and you are able to record clean audio out of the TV.
    5. I would like to get an idea on how long the screen is likely to last before the picture is washed out or becoming unwatchable - being based on either normal use, or 12 hours per day use, - assuming using the TV's default normal setting.
    6. Lastly, just as you do now, to highlight anything that might be an issue that the general public (like me) might find a problem. Don't stop picking up both common sense issues and the technical issues where I wouldn't have a clue! You are very good at this.
    Thanks Vincent.

Zombies. Zombies in avsforum and others just repeat what these marketing calibrator say. How they are amazed by this 5000 bucks tv they bought with calibrated settings but somehow they still ask anyone for new settings.calibration never mattered because it makes the picture look terrible.its just recently this fake marketing calibration gets out of handing. They do not care about what setting look good to the eye. If reality creation is improving ur picture 20 times more 3 d looks etc but there is a tiny artifact on the background they say make the picture look worse disable reality creation so in their tools the picture is now "perfect". Dont fall for this tricks. Tvs get more expensive while looking worse and worse . people fall for this qd oled stuff etc when its simple sharpness or color settings that change and improve ur picture the most.we could have insane looking tvs if we keep improve the processors and settings. Calibration is a base, obvious green should be green not blue. But thats already figured out in ancient tvs. If we have this base we can still go from there and improve it to whatever we like. The pc community didnt fall for this trick. They love their radeon sharpening nvidia tools or disable motion blur(or rarely enable it higher) whatever they like not caring about what someone with a different liking "intented". Lmao

Really appreciate the time you put into making this content. I just bought the 55" version and your whole unboxing and setup guide was immensely helpful - as I was on my own and was concerned that I could unbox and physically setup the TV without someone to assist in holding the TV securely while the stands were attached. FYI: I live in London, UK and the TV I got from John Lewis had a single piece of polystyrene protecting the TV in the box for both the top and bottom. So I had to put the TV flat on the bed to attach the feet - as the technique described in the setup guide - and the procedure you demonstrated - requires the base to be of at least two separable pieces of polystyrene so that the TV can be securely held while the stands are attached. More importantly was your helpful picture setup guide, going through all the custom picture options. Very helpful! All the best to you!

i saw the A80J at BestBuy, and I was impressed with its ability to display finer details while maintaining a natural-looking picture.
Obviously, it wasn't properly calibrated for me to compare it to the C1. Every review I have seen of the A80J, puts it ahead of the C1 in terms of color accuracy, but falls behind in gaming.. Vincent, how big is the gap in terms of gaming between these two units? How does the ability to display variable refresh rates affect the TVs performance?

    • @zubstep
      @zubstep 3 ปีที่แล้ว

VRR is a concern for pc gamers. VRR prevents screen tearing that is caused when the framerates produced by the pc and the refresh rate of the monitor become asynchronous. If you are on console, I am told this is not an issue bc the framerate is constant. I am a pc gamer, so for me, I get into the graphics software (either AMD or NVidia) and tune the card to push a constant 60 fps. That is the best workaround I have to avoid screen tearing, and it's been fine, but obv that can vary based on the game/application. Hope this helps.

Hi Vincent, I really enjoy your videos! I bought the 77 A80j 10 days ago and I absolutely love it! (I upgraded from a Panny ZT65 plasma.) I am using a Sony 800M2 4K Blu ray player in Bravia mode and the picture is incredible. 90% of my viewing is 4k Blu ray in a dark room. You can REALLY see a wide variance in how different discs are produced / mastered. I am looking forward to seeing your calibration settings. Thanks!

Both Sony and Disney+ said this was the first report of the problem of no Dolby Atmos on the internal Disney+ App.....for now well will have to wait for a new update to the Disney+ App. All other internal app work correctly and deliver Dolby Atmos.....

Hi , I just got an A80J 77 inch as most of us in this forums i also would like to see what creators intended.
But i also have some adjustments have it in three different presets Custom , Custom For Pro 1 and Custom For Pro 2
I have seen users reporting that if for example we modify Vivid or Standard tothe setting that we use in custom still there is change in how it is displayed . Essentially that means there are set of processing that we anyways cannot change. So we have to start off with the one that is stated as most accurate by sony.
    My Concern :
    1. Is Custom For Pro 1 / 2 as accurate as Custom to begin with?
    2. Is Custom For Pro More accurate than Custom or Vice Versa?
These concerns are because sony states Custom as “Truly Reproducing the Original” while Custom for Pro it states that it is for Caliberation”. So the next question obviously will be is one of them more accurate than the other?
    Thanks

Netflix, Disney plus, iTunes on Apple tv 2021 and playing movies from the Sony UBP-X700 player most blu- rays movies are looking nice the XR upscaling really do a good job sometime looks like 4K resolution, but definitely the Air channels are not looking good.
