The song begins with "A couple of pretty flowers, is what I brought to you." Then concludes at the end "I throw in a pretty flower, as they slowly lay you low.. It was a rose." Revealing what kind of flowers that he said he brought in the beginning of the song and the reason for him bringing them to her. Great writing.
Music is supposed to tell a story. It's supposed to take you for a ride seems country is the only Genre of music that still does this. This song takes you on that ride. You can feel it in your soul. It's overwhelming at times. Especially a story such as this. Pure gold
Yeah, country isn't the only place this exists. It's just a matter of finding the right artist. Like in hip hop, right off the top of my head, J. Cole's Wet Dreamz being one. Yeah, the title is funny, but it's a really relatable song for a lot of folks and composed in a sequential storytelling format.
Music can be whatever it wants to be, it's art lol. I'll give country music credit for its lyrical storytelling, but musically it's the most samey and shallow genre I've ever heard.

@@jcdenton4621 Texas Country and Red Dirt are pretty much the same thing, given how close the Texas and Oklahoma country scene is. Been that way for some time now. You can call it either one, doesn't really matter. Not really a "young people" issue.
This song always breaks my heart. I've had friends lose it all to meth. Love, family, money, life, soul. You watch them die slowly. Almost like a cancer. Whiskey Myers is one of the few putting out true country. Only a person with real experience could of written this song.

This is a heartbreaking song and s many can empathize because the personally know and worry for an active addict or have lost one close to them. I saw your review as one of the suggested vids in the feed- I really appreciate the fact that you played thru the entire song without interrupting it every 20 seconds like others do on reaction videos. This is a message that didn’t need constant interruption- it needed thoughtful reflection and someone to hear what was being said first...before reacting. Thank you.
This was the first Whiskey Meyers CD I bought. This song hits so close to home. Been there, done that , never going back again. I've seen what what this drug has done to people's lives. Makes me cry every time I hear it. These guys are the best Red Dirt Country Rock, as far as I'm concerned. I was fortunate enough to see them live about 7 years ago, awesome show.
Thank you for recognizing the depth and truth in the message of this song.. Your reaction throughout this song expressed the tragedy of a life of depression that was fatally compromised by the drugs. We all know someone going through a similar fate, but your closing narrative asking us to check on that someone speaks volumes about the compassion in your heart… Naturally, our tendency is to avoid “those people”, but they aren’t bad… They have just lost their way… Drugs provide a false escape from their sad reality… First time that I have watched you.. Your beautiful heart has convinced me to subscribe for more of your content.. Stay true to your heart ❤️ and you will have a beautiful life…

Whiskey Myers, stoney LaRue, Wade Bowen Kyle Park and a bunch of others come from what they call the Texas music scene out of Austin. This style of music and these artists are growing everyday, enough to keep up with the likes of Nashville. They call it Texas Country music.

For me it was an addition that so many of my family and friends are faced with that could not walk away from. Please continue to explore these amazing yet underrated artists. There are so many that you’ve yet to discover. 💜
When I was young my mind was single track with music. Now that I am older my mind, ears, and heart have grown to love all music. Never judge a book by its cover, you might like whats inside.
Hey thank you for reacting to this song. It’s actually a true story, it’s about his best friends wife who unfortunately lost her life to meth addiction. It’s a huge problem in east Texas and doesn’t get talked about much.
Been listening to music of all genres for 60 years. This is one of the most powerful songs i've ever heard give a listen to Kansas - Dust in the Wind Cranberries - Zombie Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird All three are Classics!!!
This song is a true story. My drummer went through this a couple of months back his girlfriend passed away and he asked me if we could add this song to our playlist and I did and it's a tough song to do near the end sometimes I'll bust out in tears but I keep going. Whiskey Myers Aaron Lewis and the list goes on and on Cody jinks there is a lot of good music out there that's underrated.
Beauuuutiful reaction Shiloh. Love how you echo off the mood of the song.. means you are in touch and thought. Time now for some Melody Cristea frontwoman for Liliac (Lil-EE-ack) recommend a original called "Sail Away" and/or Mars (Live version). Ready, set, GO!!!
These boys are from my hometown, it is always nice to see them getting the recognition they deserve. If you haven't seen or don't know about the show 'Yellowstone' you should check it out, they have some scenes on there playing in a bar. For some context of the area we are from it is one of the typical rural towns in America really having a big problem with crystal meth right now. Just this past year a guy I graduated with ran from and got into a shootout with the sheriff's department and was killed. He was a meth dealer and on meth at the time. Thing about this guy is back when we were in school he was that "all american kid" you never would have suspected to end up like that, but he did. Meth doesn't give shit who you are or if you're a "good kid" or not. Anyway, the "Timeout off of 155" is a strip club in the area outside of Tyler, TX - 155 is the road and Timeout is the place; 155 is one of the main roads through there. Thing about that place is, since it is such a small area around here, is sometimes you would go in there and see girls you knew or grew up with, went to school with, etc. and some of them would be in there to support their addiction.
Started watching your reaction videos to some of my favorite rock and metal music, now find myself watching them to genres and artists that I never listen to so haven't heard of before.
This song is based off a true story about one of the lead singers significant others at one time. The Time Out on 155 is a real place, so that might and should make it hit you harder on your soft spot
One of my favorite concert moments was when they came down to the world famous Floors Country Store in my hometown of Helotes, TX. After a hell razing concert they decided to play a tribute to White Stripes “Seven Nation Army”… 4 whiskeys and 8 beers deep, I probably head banged harder to that with my buddy then when Metallica came to SA lmao. WM is definitely a band to see live.
These guys are from a town about an hour and half away from my home town I’ve hung out with em after a show they did in Longview tx real cool guys real down to earth

Hi Shiloh this is why country music is what we are it has a true story of life around us that goes without being n eoticed country music is a blend of gospel soul blues and rock one thing about us r
That muddy water isnt for the weak at heart. Id be lying if I said I didnt cry listening to this "yeah it was a rose" ...."i thought you should know..."
He loved her and she couldn't return the love. He watched her go fro. A young adventurous beauty to a drug addict that died. He couldn't save her no matter how much he loved her.... SHE didn't love him no matter how much he loved her... its a Heartbreakers. Some men could be so good for some woman but destructive behavior and lack of of true feelings can lead people down a path of no return... I feel this song so much because this is literally a story from my book....
this song hits close to home for me... on Sep 21 this year will make 2 years for me that the women i spent 6 years with became addicted to meth.... i ended up leaving her after a few month of nothing but pain. A few months pass and i get a phone call from her father tell me she had meet the end of her road.... on my way to her funeral this song came across my spotify. and just hit me like a ton of bricks. keep up the great reaction videos hun. you got a SUB from me.
Whiskey Myers, i got intro'd to them about a year ago here in CO. Listen to "Virginia". Also anything by Cross Canadian Ragweed, they were early in the 'redirt country' thing before it had a label. Unfortunately they split right before it exploded.
I've lost a few to drugs through the years. Im sure everyone knows someone in a grave too soon. A girl i knew overdosed on oxies and wiskey a few years back. I just found out recently. It didn't surprise me knowing her. But I really liked her, there was a beautiful soul trapped in her disaster of a life... yeah, I saw her through a broken window with a different point of veiw.
Surprised and excited to see this reaction. I've constantly searched for more reactions to this song for like a year. Lol I personally prefer the live performance to the recorded version. Just has a more raw somber feel to me. It's just two guitars and a harmonica in the live one. Though most probably wouldn't notice much of a difference in the live version.
He said the song is written from the point of view of a friend he grew up with. The friend had to slowly watch a girl he cared a lot for slowly slip away and eventually die of an OD. Meth and pain pills are at epidemic levels across much of the rural parts of the US. My small town of 3,000ish people has frequent drug raids and it's not making a dent on whats happening here.

Jelly Roll - Save Me.....
A couple of pretty flowers
Is what I brought I to you
I saw you through a broken window
With a different point of view
You had signs of depression
From a long line of sin
And your face tells a story
Bout the places you have been
I love you so,
I thought you should know
And that muddy waters flowin
As you take my hand
Past the creek down by the holler
Through your daddy's land
I could buy you a diamond
But I cannot change your world
Cuz I ain't got no money
You'll never be my girl no no
I thought you should know
You was gonna be a singer
Or be a movie star
But you cant catch no breaks baby
And Hollywood is hard
Now you work down at the Time Out
Off 155
And you're dancing for your dollar
Just tryin' to stay alive
It hurts me so
I thought you should know
You feed your addiction
With your crystal meth
And I plea for your life
as it takes you to your death
You make your deal with the devil
As your looks begin to fade
I saw you laughin' through the tears
As you slowly slipped away
I watched you go
I thought you should know
Yeah I watched you go
I thought you should know
That cold rain is pourin'
As they lay you in a grave
I can barely recognize you
In your fragile state
No more signs of depression
From a long time ago
I throw in a pretty flower
As they slowly laid you low, it was a rose
I thought you should know
Yeah it was a rose
I thought you should know
A couple of pretty flowers is what I brought to you
I saw you through a broken window
With a different point of view
Proof that there still is good country music still out there..

When I was young my mind was single track with music. Now that I am older my mind, ears, and heart have grown to love all music. Never judge a book by its cover, you might like whats inside.
Love Whiskey Myers & love this song!
Well done young lady. You give me hope for the younger generations.
Hey thank you for reacting to this song. It’s actually a true story, it’s about his best friends wife who unfortunately lost her life to meth addiction. It’s a huge problem in east Texas and doesn’t get talked about much.
Been listening to music of all genres for 60 years. This is one of the most powerful songs i've ever heard
give a listen to
Kansas - Dust in the Wind
Cranberries - Zombie
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
All three are Classics!!!
First off, Shiloh you are beautiful! Secondly, your reaction was heartfelt and true💞
Wow, this band is awesome. Red dirt country.
Whiskey Meyers is an amazing band they have many great songs.
Wow, you are a doll girl!❤ thought you might cry😢
One of my favorite concert moments was when they came down to the world famous Floors Country Store in my hometown of Helotes, TX. After a hell razing concert they decided to play a tribute to White Stripes “Seven Nation Army”… 4 whiskeys and 8 beers deep, I probably head banged harder to that with my buddy then when Metallica came to SA lmao. WM is definitely a band to see live.
These guys are from a town about an hour and half away from my home town I’ve hung out with em after a show they did in Longview tx real cool guys real down to earth
Jealous
They’re an awesome group of guys. Known them for a long time now....

@@treyjeffers332 dope shit so y’all are 1st cousins that’s slick
I've never not seen anyone cry to this and gets me every time. Another about addiction, maybe more intense, is Cody Jinks - David 😞😭😭😭😞
You are pretty great to react to everything!!! Whiskey Meyers is amazing in person
The reckoning is another one

I had the story of this song play out in my life more than once. It's so painful I can't put into words.
"Ballad of a southern man." It hurts too.
Whiskey Myers is the best southern rock band ever
Took The Children Away - Archie Roach next please, he’s an indigenous australian singer/song writer. 🤍
Hi Shiloh this is why country music is what we are it has a true story of life around us that goes without being n eoticed country music is a blend of gospel soul blues and rock one thing about us r
Love how you give the whole song your attention then react. Just subscribed!
Darlin a country boy always knows the way to your heart
The Timeout Gentleman’s Club is a real place on St Hwy 155. Whiskey Myers is from nearby Palestine Tx
I love how you don't stop the song 19 times to talk about nothing lol I enjoyed this one
East Texas all right. Time Out is just a stones throw from me.
I haven’t seen the reaction yet but your personality made me happy…then I remember you’re reacting to a pretty heavy song. Hope it goes well😭
Texas country and red dirt is where its at . Lots of stories in the music . Check out Blackberry Smoke One Horse Town
There is nothing more hurting than love...
Surprised and excited to see this reaction. I've constantly searched for more reactions to this song for like a year. Lol
I personally prefer the live performance to the recorded version. Just has a more raw somber feel to me. It's just two guitars and a harmonica in the live one. Though most probably wouldn't notice much of a difference in the live version.
Such a beautiful album
He said the song is written from the point of view of a friend he grew up with. The friend had to slowly watch a girl he cared a lot for slowly slip away and eventually die of an OD. Meth and pain pills are at epidemic levels across much of the rural parts of the US. My small town of 3,000ish people has frequent drug raids and it's not making a dent on whats happening here.
If you want to cry watch Aaron Lewis folded flag or what hurts the most.
Ain’t gunna lie you’re one beautiful creature
Off of whiskey, Myers, new album there’s a song called heart of stone. I promise you this is an emotional song, however, has a very positive message.
This song is actually a true story for the members of the Whiskey Myers family.
Not to many songs I can sing all the lyrics to but this one i know every word
Thank you
