The stop-start gets MUCH smoother after 6 months or so. The Turbo is TRANSFORMATIONAL... a near super car in performance and handling. Feels like 50% more power than the S. If you have 4 people of average height in the car the room is fine in back. But it really is a car mainly for 2 people and luggage. Too small for 4 large people on a long trip with luggage. Too small for the HUGE prams and kids car seats these days, which seem to have 2x in size since I had mine decades ago! Perfect for say 3 year olds and older though. 14 way seats are the way to go. Side bolsters on the 18 way seats make it hard to get up an over them and into the seat if one is short of leg! Surprised Porsche reliability is so bad in UK. Consumer Reports and others in the USA rate most models above average. Maybe it’s the diesels?

No storage in cabin? Actually there are small drop open storage spaces built into the front of both front seat cushions. Great for change, tissues etc.
Top tip, DO NOT SPECIFY A SUNROOF. The sunroof will inevitably leak. I had one that proved impossible to fix. The interior of the car was ruined so they bought it off me.
Is the bulge by the transmission tunnel a bigger or smaller issue on cars with left-side steering? I mean, the pedals are mirrored in the well, so what difference if any does that make? Anybody here driven a Macan with the steering wheel and pedals on the left side?
Is it known whether Porsche are likely to release the GTS version?

@@AS-up3rf Pretty crappy right now; but I read in the owners manual that the first 3000km is a break in period and it states that fuel consumption could be higher than normal. I have not hit the 3000 km yet, but I getting about 13/14 liters per 100km right now with an average speed of 60km/h - Google says thats 30.5 to 33MPG if you need that conversation. I am hoping it improves after the break in they talk about in the owners manual.

@@AS-up3rf Really nice... way better than I expected. I was struggling with what to buy and spent time at BMW and almost even got a Etron - but the Macan took me 10 min and I was signing papers! no regrets, very nice to drive and fun in the corners! Lots of little surprises, like if you hit the gas hard, it seems to go into some sort of "sport" mode, and holds your shifts longer so you can hit the ideal RPM band. So much not documented, but really nice features to have.... I REALLY like this Macan S, with the new interior to me its near perfect....

Noora Tawaa: GLA45. Two weeks into ownership. I'm permanently smiling. But then I don’t have kids - another reason to be smiling all the way to the bank. It’s got just as much space in the boot and the back as my outgoing A4 Avant.
I bet whoever designed the rear middle armrest never actually used it, those cup holders are going to be exactly where you want to rest your arm and a real lack of anywhere to put your phone in the front console is pretty rubbish for a modern vehicle.
2018 GTS is the real deal the rest are just options for the non enthusiast

3:10 nothing worse than a bulge against your left leg to detract from the serious driving experience the Macan has to offer.
Unless you have thick legs you will get used to it.
The A4 also has it and I hate it. Took me a while to get used to it, went back to the Civic turbo and the ergonomics on that I think are far better than the A4's

Porsche named the Cayenne's little brother after the Indonesian Tiger - Macan - Ma Chan. Not Ma Khan .
Ma Khan sounds like women private i.e. Mike Hunt. There's no way that a world-class car mfr like Porsche would name its car that sounds like women private

Until they can get 500 miles on a charge, and 1 hour recharge, I won't be buying one. Even an hour is too long, when I can fill up with gas in 5 minutes and be on my way again.

@@ChannelEverything No tesla is advertised at 420 miles, and 20 minutes even at a Tesla station (another issue) will only get you about 50% charge.

@@JaggedMercenary I had both cars and they are very comparable. The Mini is more fun to drive and is the better car. Porsche is way overrated.
Doug, please tell all your colleague and other auto journalists, and start pronouncing the word Macan correctly. The Porche baby SUV was named after the Asian Javanese Tiger, Macan from the Island of Java.
The correct pronunciation is Machan, not Makhan. The "CA" sounds like Cha...cha...cha...not....khan like Aga Khan. Macan is not a German, nor English etc. word, but it's Sanskrit derived word.

I want to tell the entire world to stop calling it ma-khan.
Macan is Indonesian name of tiger and it’s pronounced ma-chan with ch like Che Guevara. Not ma-khan with kha. Because if you say so, this means eat. Very different.
Porsche is nearly as reliable as an X5 .. which judging by my friends X5, and my brothers Porsche, means it's pretty unreliable. I assume this reliability test negated anything from Lexus!
