Ah… the weekend starts as it always should… with Luke and Ellen. I do not keep up with games well enough to know of any that others won’t have heard of so my contribution is a thanks to everyone for bringing all of these wonderful games to my attention! 🙂
If I'm not mistaken Dragon Age 4 should be releasing in the second half of this year (at least last I checked, I have no idea if it's been pushed back to 2025) that's the game I'm really looking forwards for ❤
According to the latest teaser trailer it’s getting a full reveal summer this year (probably at summer games fest), and November this year will mark 10 years since Inquisition came out so it seems pretty likely that they’re aiming for a Christmas release this year. I love Dragon Age so Dreadwolf has been my most anticipated game every year and will be every year until it comes out.
I hate to be that guy, but I would go in with a healthy dose of scepticism. We've known for years the game was supposed to be a live service but the complete failure of Anthem followed by the success of Jedi: Fallen Order made EA reconsider and the project was pivoted to single player... But from the very brief glimpses that leaked a while back, it seems the game will feature very small dungeons and going back and forth to a hub rather than exploring a world, and generic companions we can't issue orders to because once upon a time they were supposed to be other humans. I genuinely hope what we saw was outdated information, because it really looked uninspired.
@@LoriasGS Dragon Age is my favourite franchise, and I'm not going to lie, I am a tad bit worried hearing everything that has been happening behind the scenes, but hey, I love Dragon Age 2 and they had a bad development, they knew back then that they were being rushed so they focused primarily on the companions and their relationship with the player, and I believe that as long as they keep that mentality in mind (after all it's mostly the companions which really make this franchise great and unique) the game will be great
The thing I'm most looking forward to right now is the Alone in the Dark Remake. But for the hipster vibes, Simon the Sorcerer Origins is looking cool.

There's a game called Chronique des Silencieux slated for late january that has been on my wishlist for a while! Point and click detective game set in 1970s southern France. Looks super stylish and interesting!
Tribes 3. Such a unique first-person shooter, and it's been over a decade since Ascend came out. High speed skiing across huge maps, flying around with jetpacks, bouncing shoots into opponents. So much fun that I've missed, and cannot wait to experience it again.

I'm not really up on what games are coming out this year but I'm excited for Snufkin: melody of moominvalley. Because I love the moomins, and snufkin is my favourite (he was my first ever crush 🥰)
Also had a couple of games on my steam watchlist for soooo long that I really hope come out or at least have a demo this year. Skye is one. Also I'm hoping for another seal world level.
That's pretty boring. Part of the fun of video games is being excited for stuff BEFORE they release. Sometimes you get disappointment, sometimes you get everything you wanted and then some. The element of surprise and hype is the best part. Ironically I feel like I sometimes spend more time getting hyped about video games then actually playing them, even if they end up being amazing.
Fortunately in the modern age you can both be excited for something and then be able to make an informed decision on purchasing it once it is available
Luke: I wrote a table top game. Me: I think you meant to say: "I wrote an AWESOME AND EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING table top game THAT IS EASY TO PICK UP AND WHEN YOU READ THE RULES YOU CAN'T HELP BUT HEAR ME NARRATING IT IN MY VOICE IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH IT." Speaking of: is 2024 the year where we see a full Gravity Rip Grand Prix? I think that could be fun. :)
While watching the gameplay for aero gpx and listening to Luke talk about it gave me flashbacks to a racing game that I loved growing up called Kinetica. Where u play as humans in these mechanical suits called Kinetic suits & you race on these insane tracks where the tamest tracks just involve going up the side of buildings or this massive industrial look tunnels while going upside down and dodging massive fans. You could attack other racers to but it was a risk reward situation since if your not careful u could knock back a racer only to then fall in a giant hole on the tracks or be taken out by any other hazard on the road
Most anticipated games of 2024 for me include Persona 3 Reload, MetaPhor ReFantazio, and Hellblade 2. If Indiana Jones comes out this year and it looks great, then that too as well.
I am eagerly awaiting for Nightingale. It got overshadowed by a few other game announcements (at least in my gaming circle no one heard of it until I stumbloed upon it) and I am sooooo hyped >_
Don't forget that Don't Nod also made Vampyr and Remember Me, both excellent and vastly different from Life is Strange. Banishers is less a change of pace when you know about those.
Very intrigued to see what Luke & Jane think about Lost Records: Bloom & Rage which is going to be the start of Don't Nod's new gaming franchise along the lines of/similar to the LIS series.
Crow Country, Crow Country, Crow Country! I so cannot WAIT for Crow Country's full version to drop! A modern Resident Evil with that classic rounded poly aesthetic and in full 3D. I DEVOURED the demo and have been waiting excitedly ever since. Can't believe how well it nails the feel and atmosphere of the survival horror originals. Even though I never buy new games right when they are released, as soon as Crow Country launches I'm buying and spending the whole day playing it.
I have a pretty long list of honorable mentions - STALKER 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta, Persona 3... - but my most anticipated is Palworld coming next week. It's been on my steam wishlist for years.
I’m so hoping Harold halibut is going to be good. Finally got a release window of early 2024 and it is all stop motion and looks like a Wes Anderson film.
Palia is a game currently in open beta on PC, and switch, with a steam version coming soon. It's like Stardew but online, where you build a house, decorate it, farm, hunt, fish, and chat with the citizens learning about them and helping them work out their troubles. And it's free to play. It's designed to be a chill community game.
Omg I didn’t knew princess peach had her own game coming out I loved super princess peach and kitty in the city seems adorable! Thank you guys for exposing me to these games!!
Got two games on my Steam wishlist I'm hoping will be great having played demos at cons, being Billie Bust Up and Gori: Cuddly Carnage. I really hope both will live up to my own person hypage.
Balatro, a deck-building poker game, had a demo which is now no longer available. It was so good I sometimes find myself dreaming about it. Even this early in 2024, I declare it GOTY.
My honorable mentions are Dragon's Dogma 2, Yakuza Like A Dragon: Infinite Weealth, Hades 2, Banishers, Princess Peach Spotlight, Final Fantasy XVI's second DLC, the new FFXIV expansion, but above all others: FINAL FANTASY 7 REBIRTH!!!!! I'm just counting down the days to that one. I just vought my ticket to see the FF7 Advent Children limited theatrical showing too. Final Fantasy and FF7 in particular is such a big part of why I fell in love with gaming in the first place. I'm so, so excited!!! ❤ There are quite a few other games that I'm really lookong forward to, but Final Gabyasy 7 Rebirth is my most anticipated game. I remember when I played Remake for the first time and the first notes of music filled me with so much nostalgic joy and honestly got me a little teary eyed. I just love these characters and their stories so much. For me they bring back the wonder I felt as a kid when I played the original for the first time and realized that games could tell me atories thay were as good, or better, than my beloved books.
My game of the year, is Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road. I was obsessed with the earlier DS games as a kid, and the fact that a new one is finally slated to come out this year after a decade of rumour and hype and cancellations has me really excited. For those unaware (everyone) its a football game with Special Moves following a Japanese HS team through... some insane storylines in the past games. The earlier games also mostly released alongside anime seasons.
I haven't really seen it being mentioned so I'm gonna take the chance to mention it here: I'm pretty hyped for Black Myth Wukong, set to be released August 2024, it's been a while since the game trailer first released!!! As a Singaporean Chinese, Journey to the West has been a big part of my Chinese childhood, watching different adaptations on TV and (trying to) read a really dense Chinese book of the legend. Sun Wukong was a big favourite character of mine and I'm excited to see how the legend gets adapted! I honestly think Chinese myths don't get enough attention in western media so it's nice to see a game like that be made. Fingers crossed!
_The Plucky Squire_ and _Sword of the Sea_ are firmly on my radar. Before I get carried away with 2024, though, there's still plenty of 2023 (and earlier!) to finish: _Baldur's Gate 3, Oxenfree 2,_ and _Lost in Random_ to name but three. Not to mention a bevy of PSVR2 content, after treating myself to a new headset for Christmas.
Oh, I'm really looking forward to Ena: Dream BBQ! But there's no guarantee that'll be coming this year since it's already reasonably been delayed haha. otherwise Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is something I've been looking forward to since 2022. I guess it was delayed because I believe it was originally going to release 2023. I remembered because this made me peek at what I've wishlisted on Steam haha.
the first game that's on my radar this year just came out and it's a metroidvania called Momodora: Moonlit Farewell which is the 4th and final game in the series. next month another indie game i'm looking forward to, is based on an old forgotten PC game, Slave zero x. it's a 2D beat-em up with a very strong cyberorganic aesthetic (think the Guyver) with ps 1 2.5 D perspective with a deep dial-a-combo combat system. Lastly there's the Plucky squire which i'm really excited for.
For me its between 2 options. 1 that has neen slated for this year is Avowed. A new obsidian rpg with microsoft's budget should be great. But the one that is less confirmed but I'm extremely hyped for is Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Maybe won't come out this yr but we will atleast get news in Summer and it has been 10 years....🤷🏿♂️ hopefully.. Bioware plz 😭
Since I was asked to talk about my most anticipated hipster release, I'm excited for a new Rimworld DLC. They typically don't announce them until they are ready, and have had an average time between content drops is 1 year and 4 months. Which is February.
I haven't played the demo, but I've always loved the niche Civ games that are mainly economic city-building strategy game...like sure it has military elements, but that's not the main plot. It's called Builders of Egypt. I've been following its development on Steam and it looks like a modern take on Pharaoh and older games like that. So I'm just like yay more Ancient Egyptian themed games! XD
This might be a cop-out answer, but I'm looking forward to the surprise indie game that we don't even know about but it comes out of nowhere with almost no hype. Seems like we get a couple of those kinds of games every year. Something like Vampire Survivors, Dredge, Undertale, Return of the Obra Dinn, Disco Elysium, etc. The kind of game that wasn't made by a big studio, wasn't something you'd see hyped at the Game Awards or E3, but still winds up on people's Game of the Year award lists.
Full Fathom is a survival horror game that's based in an old submarine that's exploring a flooded world. It's got dashes of Iron Lung in it, and just looks absolutely amazing. It's like asking "What if subnautica really leaning into the pants-shitting terror part of that game?" It's already got a steam page and it's suppose to be released in the 3rd quarter this year
I'm looking forward to Banishers but Maybe more so Lost Records because it has that life is strange vibes. Honestly just trust dontnod to make great games
Since Luke and Ellen asked so nicely: My most anticipated games, in general, are Old Skies (the next Wadjet Eye Game in the Blackwell universe) and Citizen Sleeper 2, but both don't have a release date, yet. For 2024, I'm looking forward to the GW2: SotO releases and the possible next expansion towards the end of the year, Mars Tactics, WitchHand and Unrailed 2: Back on Track. Then there's Solium Infernum (the remake), that I'm pretty excited about as well as two new offerings in the roguelite card/dice battler genre that had some good ideas or good presentation: Tamarak Trail and Acolyte of the Altar. So, yes, I'm probably a gaming hipster, as most people probably haven't heard of any of these, if not none of them.
'This Dead Winter'. Adorable red fox, snow, puzzle adventure. Looks a bit like Rime and Fe meets Okami in the snow. For the red fox cuteness alone, Ellen should have a look.
Deep Rock Galactic Survivor is going to drop into early access soon. The demo released during steam fest was a lot of fun and i miss being able to play it. Gotta find them mushrooms.
Watching the Aero GPX footage and thinking "I don't have time to parse this at that speed" has reminded me, friends, I am very old now. You young 'uns and your Aeros and your GPXses. I'm looking forward to "Cozynauts" which appears to be a sort of spacey base builder with an almost Animal Crossing vibe. We'll see.
So glad to see a shoutout to Aero GPX! I've been in the exact same position as Luke for years, waiting for someone to finally do a F-Zero X inspired game that just _feels_ right. Aero GPX is definitely the #1 contender, I'm super hyped for it. Also, Myrone is my effing jam. :D
I'm also excited for the Fallout London mod slated for April. I wish Ellen would do a stream of it since she is a big Londoner and I first started watching her on Wasteland Wednesdays on Xbox On.
Read Only Memories: Neurodiver. The first game was so good. Also the Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 remakes, as it was one of the first games I ever played.
Honorable mentions I would also also banishes and the thaumaturge (basically a pokemon ish like game but it's in a gritty realistic Poland and instead of cute friendly critters you capture demons from slavic mythology), but what I'm excited the most is probobly hades 2, who although I dont know when it will come out I will still give my left lung for some sort of new information.
fantasy life i: the girl who steals time. The first game on the 3DS gave me hours of great entertainment and fans of the game have waited a long time for some kind of sequel after an online only version in Japan flopped. So happy for a new game!
Vargus: Riven Realm. Technically the game is out, can be played and completed, but are lots of updates and new material still being added. Base game you overseeing a caravan, traveling from city to city thru a bandit filled wasteland, trying to turn a profit.
I'm surprised at how little buzz Alone in the Dark is getting. I know the franchise isn't a household name anymore, but the trailers and demo have me intrigued.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is what I'm excited for. I loved the first Fantasy Life and am so excited to enter the grind of the next one. Lol
based on the little i know of what's coming out this year i don't really have any anticipated games this year unlike the last few years so it will be interesting to me to see what game i like that most by the end of 2024
It's not a standalone game, but I'm very excited for a Fallout 4 mod called Fallout: London. Based on what they're saying, it sounds at least as big as Fallout 4, lore friendly and story rich. People from all over the world have come together to do everything from writing to 3D modeling to writing original songs for the soundtrack and radio stations. It looks amazing and the levels of cooperation and dedication involved are just incredible.
I'm looking forward to a few games this year, although it's not new I really want Clock Tower Remastered. Arzette, a unique IP Zelda CDI aesthetic game made by the original devs and above all The Plucky Squire looks like it's going to be amazing!
For me, it's the Fallout London mod for Fallout4. It looks like such a labour of love, and I can't wait to go exploring round Camden and the Financial Districts, as they're 2 areas I know really well.
Palworld looks like it's going to be so much fun. Monster collecting with guns, base building, potentially survival and automation mechanics? Sign me up!
The effect Luke was trying to describe can be achieved with superconductors and is called "quantum locking" so yes in the future with incredibly insane investment into a giant magnetic track somebody COULD* actually build this! *Maybe† †Kinda★ ★Sorta
I think my *most* anticipated game is Eiyuden Chronicle, due out in April. However... honorable mention to Nivalis - the upcoming cyberpunky life sim that I'm super curious to see more of, so I've been keeping an eye on.
Had a child last year, so my most anticipated games of ‘24 are all the games that came out in ‘23
🙄

I'm not really up on what games are coming out this year but I'm excited for Snufkin: melody of moominvalley. Because I love the moomins, and snufkin is my favourite (he was my first ever crush 🥰)
Also had a couple of games on my steam watchlist for soooo long that I really hope come out or at least have a demo this year. Skye is one. Also I'm hoping for another seal world level.
I'm so happy Ellen had noticed little cat big city. I hope she can play it for the channel at some point.
i really like when show of the weekend is about videogames
I myself have found that the best time to be excited about a piece of media is when it's in front of me.
That sounds like a very bleak way to live your life.
Once I've played a demo, I think a degree of cautious anticipation is warrented
Wow you're so cool, look how cool they are everyone wow
I saw a game called metropolis 1998 the other day! It looks like a half way house between the sims (1) and sim city 2000!
Luke: I wrote a table top game.
Me: I think you meant to say: "I wrote an AWESOME AND EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING table top game THAT IS EASY TO PICK UP AND WHEN YOU READ THE RULES YOU CAN'T HELP BUT HEAR ME NARRATING IT IN MY VOICE IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH IT."
Speaking of: is 2024 the year where we see a full Gravity Rip Grand Prix? I think that could be fun. :)
Fantasy Life i is for sure my pick of the year. Put over 100 hours in the first one, lost the 3ds I had and then put another 200 hours on a new save
Come on guys DRAGONS DOGMA 2!! I've been waiting 10 years fror this to drop and I only have to wait just over two months now!!
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered coming out in February 🤩. Very excited about it!
Always a lovely treat these videos
I only learned about it right after it didn't exist any more :(
Dragons Dogma 2 is what I am most excited for
My honorable mentions are Dragon's Dogma 2, Yakuza Like A Dragon: Infinite Weealth, Hades 2, Banishers, Princess Peach Spotlight, Final Fantasy XVI's second DLC, the new FFXIV expansion, but above all others: FINAL FANTASY 7 REBIRTH!!!!!
I'm just counting down the days to that one. I just vought my ticket to see the FF7 Advent Children limited theatrical showing too. Final Fantasy and FF7 in particular is such a big part of why I fell in love with gaming in the first place. I'm so, so excited!!! ❤
There are quite a few other games that I'm really lookong forward to, but Final Gabyasy 7 Rebirth is my most anticipated game.
Id say my pick is silksong, but silksong was also my pick for last year and that didn't work out too well for me lol
Didnt know about Aero GPX but now i am hype for it too! Thanks Luke!
Nine sols, its a hand drawn metroidvania set in a taoist cyberpunk world with sekiro inspired combat. theres a demo out, its pretty good.
Why has it taken me this long to realize Ellens hair is color coordinated with the couch!? I swear I only realized it because of her sweater !? Lol
Knowing these two are also excited for LN3 makes me very happy. Even more so considering I have a very similar relationship to horror as Ellen.
When SCP Josie comes out I hope that Ellen learns about it, it's right up her alley. Supernatural cat puzzle game with darker stuff in the background
Very excited for the Apollo Justice Trilogy, which is coming out in a few weeks!
the first game that's on my radar this year just came out and it's a metroidvania called Momodora: Moonlit Farewell which is the 4th and final game in the series. next month another indie game i'm looking forward to, is based on an old forgotten PC game, Slave zero x. it's a 2D beat-em up with a very strong cyberorganic aesthetic (think the Guyver) with ps 1 2.5 D perspective with a deep dial-a-combo combat system.
XD
Wipe out was my jam! FAST RMX is the closest thing to a modern Wipe Out.
The game im exited for is house flipper 2 comming to consoles in March 😂
Since Luke and Ellen asked so nicely:
My most anticipated games, in general, are Old Skies (the next Wadjet Eye Game in the Blackwell universe) and Citizen Sleeper 2, but both don't have a release date, yet.
I feel like anti-gravity racing is the videogame genre equivalent of disco.
Deep Rock Galactic Survivor is going to drop into early access soon.
The demo released during steam fest was a lot of fun and i miss being able to play it. Gotta find them mushrooms.
F-Zero was so fun, I was also a big fan of Jet Moto! For a deep deep dive there was Streak Hoverboard racing. Anyone who knows that game is a legend
"Luke!" *Little scream* never gets old 😂
Watching the Aero GPX footage and thinking "I don't have time to parse this at that speed" has reminded me, friends, I am very old now.
I’m so excited for the Fallout London too
Read Only Memories: Neurodiver.
Lol
No release dates on them yet but keeping an eye on Resistor, Crimson Hollow and Kind Words 2.
based on the little i know of what's coming out this year i don't really have any anticipated games this year unlike the last few years so it will be interesting to me to see what game i like that most by the end of 2024
Mine is stalker 2, I've waited soo long. Fear it might get delayed again but not sure
Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice Trilogy for me! It's out in less than two weeks!
For me, it's Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. Thought the first game was incredible, so I've got high hopes for the sequel
Sign me up!
Aaaaand we're back!
The effect Luke was trying to describe can be achieved with superconductors and is called "quantum locking" so yes in the future with incredibly insane investment into a giant magnetic track somebody COULD* actually build this!
*Maybe†
†Kinda★
★Sorta
I think my *most* anticipated game is Eiyuden Chronicle, due out in April. However... honorable mention to Nivalis - the upcoming cyberpunky life sim that I'm super curious to see more of, so I've been keeping an eye on.
