Luke picturing himself as Ash standing next to a Charizard, and forgetting that 11 year old children are smaller than he is, is adorable.

Tbf, Charizard are a lot shorter than they first appear.
Charizards in the mirror are closer than they appear
Game lore and anime lore isn't the same. Ash's charizard is upwards of 6 ft tall. And it was shorter than the average charizard shown in that one episode where he went to the place with several charizard. The magazine seemed to be doing game dex entries.

I love how this quiz dashes Luke's fantasy of riding a Charizard. Its the perfect metaphor of growing up, when you realize you are bigger than a Charizard XD
my denial of the Dex heights/weights is that it's the average height. for example an American in the Dex would show a height of 5'6.

The question about Tyranitar made me wonder how much Luke plays Pokemon though.... He remembers the type of Heracross, but not Tyranitar or Exeggutor? lol wut? Tyranitar vs Charizard? Charizard has a double weakness to rock attacks, and that's Tyranitar's type: rock/dark! And seriously he actually thought Eggy was POISON?!?!?!!? No, it's Psychic.
As for whether Charizard is a dragon? it's in the dragon egg group! conceptually yes, it Is a dragon, but not dragon TYPE!

I call bs on the 90kg though. That's only 199lbs. I am only 33lbs lighter than a Charizard and I'm an avg 5'10" male.
@@nicocrestmere9688 the Pokemon writers spend a lot of time working on this stuff... but don't always apply real world logic to weights. Like Steelix weights about as much as a giant ball of crumpled aluminum foil.

They go back to the newsagent and buy all the other copies. Then go to all the other newsagents in London until the next edition comes out.
As long as Luke signs the Pokémon art from a distance without a way of resting his wrist, they'll never know you're not kids.

A very English moment: converting back into feet because we find it impossible to comprehend height in metres.
But at the same point, I don't know anyone younger than about 50 who uses feet for anything except people. Feet exist to about 6 feet something, and then it becomes metres, until it becomes miles again.

It was probably shot a while back and has also probably been edited and ready to go for a while too. Just needed uploading. They shoot several videos in one day but bring a change shirts for some of them...either that or the team all wear the same trousers for weeks at a time lol. Ellen and Luke have seemingly been wearing the same trousers for 4 weeks now lol.

I have been watching this show for 4 years and that is the first time I have ever seen the entire room before. The illusion is broken.

Luke, you have to remember that Ash is only 10. So with that size comparison, you're probably about Charizard sized.
To put things in perspective, Ellen in heels is probably taller than Charizard.

I love that this has become a thing, and I love how excited everyone gets when a new magazine comes out. I never wanted to play Pokémon before, but Ellen and Luke got me curious enough to look at all the different Pokémon and ghost type are so cool I want to play. Thanks guys!

This is the most screentime James has had for, like, 8 years (since his State of Decay LP) 😂
The size of Charizards fluctuates a lot, but they are normally around the size of a human (remember that Ash is still a kid). An avarage Charizard definitely doesn't weight nearly a ton, although there might be some that do.
I don't want to crush Luke's hopes and dreams, but I got all the questions right despite never having played a single Pokémon game.
Also if he weighed 1 ton, he would not physically be able to fly at his size most likely. He'd have to be massive. Like massive in wing span and height

To be fair if charazard weighed 900 kg it would weigh more than 2 steelix at that point it would probably be far too heavy to fly and you could never convince me that a creature heavier than 2 solid steel snakes could do so to begin with
Well it could. But the creature itself would need to be massive. With massive wings. So much bigger than Charizard. :) but as is, agree
On the other hand: two huge and massive steel snakes should weigh more than 900 kg. Keep in mind the stand for certain traffic lights are more than a ton.
It would weigh almost the same of that little thing that evolves into the sun lion and something related to the moon.

Someone commented above that they film several of these in a day and just bring different shirts while keeping the same jeans and such. That and them using the summer edition of the magazine would mean they filmed this way back in September sometime. But yeah, filming a bunch in one day would still be tiring.

They should have made art and sent it in of a Charizard at a boxing weigh-in for it's _proper height and weight_

This is the first time I’ve seen that that perspective of the studio in my head it was ginormous like a full television studio complete with studio audience I know my expectations were unrealistic but I didn’t expect it to be the size of a broom cupboard

You needed to convert from meters to feet for your own reference... As an American, I appreciate it, but I thought y'all were in a place that uses metric more?
We use a weird mix of metric and imperial. Most Brits will know their height in feet and their weight in stones.
Yeah its a weird thing since Britain and Canada both used imperial at one point, and then also because of American imports/exports - lots of people, especially older generations use imperial so everything is mixed. Also for some reason we still do height in feet/inches? (source: im from canada)
@@candy-scorn Can confirm for myself at least. I’m Canadian, too, and I use a mix of metric and imperial. For whatever reasons, I like feet and inches for height and length, pounds for weight, miles per hour for speed but more metric for cooking/baking and other things.

I got 100% on my Charizard quiz. The only one that threw me off was the final question about it being able to melt boulders. I couldn't exactly remember, so I had to guess, and I guessed correctly! :D

My little American heart was so amused that Luke had to convert metric into imperial to understand the height of charizard.
My little Asian heart is so amused when my American friend forgets that feet decimals aren't inches and thinks an inch is the width of a thumbnail.
Measurement is hard yo.
Us Brits generally measure people in feet and inches for height and stones for weight (though I notice that they did seem to know their weights in kilos, which is increasingly common). We often don't use either measurement for much else though, only people (unless wargaming... inches are still quite common there, or of an older generation).
Ellen's hints at Gyarados would throw off even the biggest Pokémon nerd hahahaha
