Honestly, Detective Pikachu felt more like a live action adaptation of the anime than a video game movie, which is why it didn't even occur to me as an answer.
I mean the anime came after the game, so it'd be like if they made a Last of us Movie now and people called it an adaptation of the TV show rather than the game. I do see your point, though, young kid going on an adventure with a pikachu only happens in one of the games but in all of the anime.

Disappointed that the opening track to Jedi: Fallen Order didn't show up in the music round, that piece is fantastic.
