@@moggie269 Curry only made contact once the player had landed. His technique could've been better (hence yellow) but a RED implies zero mitigation, which doesn't make sense, as the fact that the player was landing from air should be mitigation (as this makes it hard for a tackler to judge)

Emergence of new style of play in Rugby. Drop goals will be the main weapon for those team with inferior physical size or when they're down with one or two men. Give enough distance from ruck and have 2 kickers, 1 main and 1 backup kicker - can rip any team apart. Slow but a sure way to win a game.. keep adding up those small points
English pragmatism. Can’t win by the game, win by high class kicks! Congratulations. In rugby, never underestimate England! And my heart is bleeding saying that because I’m French 😂😂😂
After the red card, I was about to switch off my TV because England will not be able to win the game with 14 players. But the English forwards were a class of its own. Thanks for a great performance George.
One of the best England performances I have seen in years! For the Aussies moaning about our kicking game, the guys played with the cards that they were dealt(a very dubious red card). Discipline was amazing, and everyone defended to the hilt. Well done lads!
brilliant from Ford ..I love the intelligence and pragmatism ... dificult to score with 14 men ..obviously going to be a low scoring game .. go for the drop goal! but it takes SO much skill ! you dont see Dan Biggar attempting many ! (from a welsh fan) and the second one went over from half way with some metres to spare ! irrespective of nationality ..rugby intelligence combined with total confidence is good to see , Ford showed it in abundance !
Arg and Eng have had their conflicts. Just like what i have seen in football games, it's pleasing to see all the rancour has dissipated. There is no bad blood between them anymore only sportmanship. That's the spirit! Time heals sport mends.
An Argie here: sincerest congrats England! As I have been posting all over the place for weeks what could happen, and even that England had what it takes, I now say; "I TOLD YOU SO..." On top of that, they did it with 14 MEN since almost the very start! Argentina could not avoid falling into the trap of over-confidence, and we lost like amateurs against a supposedly weakened team. The English would now say "bollocks", but they shoud not, since their recent history is embarrasing. But, they never lost their heads, and as Argentina were unable to unsettle them and failed to capitalize some points or combinations, they gained in confidence hugely, inversely to Argentina. Serves us right for our arrogance. If Argentina are going to play this BADLY, there is not a chance in Heaven that we qualify for the next stage! Shame on Los Pumas! Such a fancied team.....

Exactly. It's rugby, for crying out loud. Head clashes are going to happen whether you like it or not. The question is whether there was any intent or recklessness involved. In this case, there wasn't. Slightly mistimed perhaps. Warranting a yellow perhaps. But a 'retrospective' red? Ridiculous decision imo.

Argentina may just be putting too much pressure on themselves and being overwhelmed by the moment - they should take the challenge as they'd do any other. Just another game

Cipayo
George ford just radiates Johnny Wilkinson with his kicking ability, this gives me hope for a possible England comeback to glory, truly they showed heart as the English do best, best of luck next week against the Japanese cherry blossoms
I reckon that was such a cool way to win. Well done England from an All black supporter. Ironically Hugo Porter won a few test matches for Argentina in similar fashion.
A red? 😂 Stop it! Hats off to England for managing to eek out an ugly win, but whats the point in playing rugby if that's a straight red offence? May as well field a team of 5 footers at this rate to avoid any risk of head contact. I'm all for player safety but what on earth is curry supposed to do differently there, without letting the man jump right past him?
couldn't agree more. If that's a red in rugby then what's a punch to the face - lifetime ban?!
Curry is a clean, fearless player - the rules need to also protect players like him. In this case, a player jumping and landing should be a mitigating factor. If Curry went in low he might get a boot in the eyes or a knee in the head
Maybe (just maybe) don't go for a tackle on a player that hasn't landed back on the field?! And maybe (just maybe) go tackling lower?!
@@moggie269 Curry only made contact once the player had landed. His technique could've been better (hence yellow) but a RED implies zero mitigation, which doesn't make sense, as the fact that the player was landing from air should be mitigation
(as this makes it hard for a tackler to judge)
@@smartalecc Judging on the replay that I can see in the highlights, the player landed ON Curry. But maybe it's just a bad angle.
My point remains: to prevent any card, Curry could have waited and, more importantly, just go lower...
ESPECIALLY as the Chilli player has not been upgraded.
Truly disgusting treatment of the English players and they have a genuine case of prejudice against them.
I’m gonna say it…. George Ford would not have been able to kick those drop goals if Ben Youngs was playing. Mitchell has the sharpness and speed of pass to allow that time on the ball. Him and Ford must start all games!!!
And crucially, NO Farrell.
Masterclass from Ford, but the officiating was a momentum killer.
The ref was rather in favour of England.
england were their usual poor, Argentina were diabolically bad. A good team against a team playing so badly would have scored tries, not drop goals.
A mi la expulsión me pareció excesiva. Después es cierto que el árbitro compensó con algunos penales discutibles.
@pacman4568 you are obviously clueless about rugby as playing a man down for the whole game makes it almost impossible to attack regularly. The new rules are killing the gang as a contest.
Preposterous red card for Curry. Has the referee ever heard of the word "accident"? These new disciplinary/safety rules are in danger of killing the game.what next? Speed limits for tackles? Padding? We also have too much referee-domination of games and rules half the spectators don 't undrtstand.
That said: I thought Ford was spectacular.
The difference between the 2 teams was England took their opportunities while Pumas were lethargic in approach. Great win by England. Love from Fiji.
Good luck tonight!

Ford is massively underrated!
Forget the result - England you played with passion today, there was intensity, there was conviction, there was accuracy, there was fitness - far more than the warm ups. That’s what the fans want to see, the win is a joy but the effort was what won me over. Imagine what we can do if we can play with a full squad for a game or two - maybe even a first choice squad! Love the RWC! Another huge day tomorrow!

An incredibly boring match. George Ford 27 and his league team defeated a woefully coached Lebanese league team.
@@thingme9941 👍
Funny how people were complaining about Ford making the English WC team. They said he was too old, past his prime, etc...
Ford shows the critics that he is still the great player he is, what a masterclass!
As an argie. I got to say that the red card on the English pkayer was unjust. Anyways england deserved the win and Argentina just didn't seem to be on field. It was just not the day. Kudos to you all

Not a single try for England but George Ford carried the day for them. This is a dream start for the English especially considering how poor their form was before the world cup.

If that’s a red card for Curry and a yellow for Carreras we might as well all go home. Utterly absurd.
That is a disrace

The new rules on rugby is like you are watching a new series of Netflix for under 7 years old
Curry penalty, Carreras yellow (marginally)
As an Argentine, with sportsmanship and respect I congratulate the English team.
On the other hand, I comment with pain that the poor and bad performance of the Argentine team only shows the socioeconomic debacle that Argentine society is suffering due to the deplorable government that we have in the last decades, which affects our rugby players.
Take a page out of the South African playbook... sports teams must rise above the mess the politicians create in the country and play their hearts and souls out for their nation.

One of the best England performances I have seen in years! For the Aussies moaning about our kicking game, the guys played with the cards that they were dealt(a very dubious red card). Discipline was amazing, and everyone defended to the hilt. Well done lads!
Interesante como planteo Inglaterra el partido y sin ningún ensayo que buen resultado obtuvo
brilliant from Ford ..I love the intelligence and pragmatism ... dificult to score with 14 men ..obviously going to be a low scoring game .. go for the drop goal! but it takes SO much skill ! you dont see Dan Biggar attempting many ! (from a welsh fan) and the second one went over from half way with some metres to spare ! irrespective of nationality ..rugby intelligence combined with total confidence is good to see , Ford showed it in abundance !

Both are now in the semi final!!... imagine a England Argentina final!!😂

That way of winning is only possible for the truly strong.😮
It was an unintentional clash of heads. I would like to see a warning and yellow given for first time offense. If the offense is repeated follow it up with a red. An intentional head butt obviously warrants a straight red.
Never a red card, why didn’t the argue get binned as well it looked like an accidental clash to me
@TomUK7h
Yes, a spot‐on analysis of what is wrong with the refereeing of accidental/unintentional head collisions at the current time. Fortunately, England responded with great character and dug themselves out of a hole to record a famous win.

England showed an absolute masterclass in how to control a fame with 14 men. Argentina were woeful in their decision making and basic rugby skills. Red and yellow cards, who knows, seems a pretty grey area but I do like the how they investigate these things now while the game gets a chance to keep going
