      The overall max speed and acceleration depends heavily on the handling and the skill of the driver. Rc cars are very prone to flipping and it is hard to keep them in a straight line under heavy acceleration. The race between internal combustion rc and electric rc is still undecided. There are many internal combustion and electric rc cars that are capable of reaching extreme speeds that make both of these cars seem very slow by comparison

    • @arturos.l.2248

      There are a lot of advantages to certain nitro cars over electric ones as well. They don't require expensive lithium batteries, and Very overpriced brushless motors. The engines are actually cheaper and cost less to maintain. If you're considering getting into it I highly recommend it. Obviously electric RC cars are usually a little faster, but I think you might enjoy the nitro fuel rc cars aswell

    If you understand the basics og electric motors, and Nitro engines, then you will know that electric motors produce a lot more torque, and at almost zero rpm. And if the electric motor and the nitro engine is rated at the same HP and geared the same way, the electric motor will always win in a drag race.

    2. Is the motor/esc an equivelant value to the nitro engine?

      Gear ratio is important comparing the same engine but in this case is meaningless.
      And we are not talking about a car but about a toy, so I don't see why weight and power should be important for you.
      You should only compare size and price.
      PS: in real cars electric vehicles have more acceleration even though they weight more

      @@SuperSerNiko97 weight is very important. And the boxes read that these are not toys but hobby grade scale race cars. Weight, aerodynamics all very important here. Same chassis should be used though. Gearing isn't the issue though and most nitro engines have have more torque down low not electric cars. Nitro punch is huge down low with low gearing. My 8th scale nitro buggy with 13/46 gearing can out punch any 6s lipo electric buggy any day and at 16/46 gearing can meet its top speed too so idk. It's really an age old oranges vs lemons comparison.

      +1RCHunter Dirt can get in from the glow plug hole and an old filter. Personally before i remove my glowplug i pray some high pressure degreaser or get an air compresser and blow it down the head and for my filters i buy pre oiled filters from rb and wrap them in 'vet wrap' and change the wrap every 3 tanks depending on conditions. Then i toss the filter in the bin after a race day or half a gallon of fuel cause reusing filters is not very safe in my opinion. Breaking the con rod was mostlikely a fluke but things that put stress on it is running too rich for too long after a breakin (blubery rich) or going to hard on the throttle with little fuel through the engine. Hope i helped

  • @Choccykituwu
    @Choccykituwu ปีที่แล้ว

    Top speed of both seems similar but acceleration from the electric is where it wins out everytime. This is to be expected because electric motors have instant full torque response from the get-go while an engine must spin up to make power and torque.
    On a track, it comes down to driver skill and technique, and there is the fact that a nitro can get on the power earlier than electric, making it faster out of turns. In those circumstances, unless both drivers are equal, a nitro will probably win on technical, twisty tracks every time because they can rapidly blip the throttle and keep the engine in the ideal powerband with its clutch spinning while electric can't do that without causing wheelspin and a potential fishtail, which will make it lose time in said turns.
    Personally, I love nitro. The sound, the smell, the tuning, everything about it is worth it, but electric has its time and place as well, especially in the winter when nitro engines typically don't enjoy being used and are difficult to get the proper temps into so they run happily and optimally. At the end of the day, whichever one makes you smile the most is all that matters!

    I chose nitro for myself. The reason for this is because I run off road and often run my truck for 4 hours at a time non stop. Topping off the fuel tank literally takes 5 seconds and I'm off again with the same power from full tank to empty. I'm also deep woods with no electric or car around to charge up batteries. Electrics do have more torque initially but batteries take longer to switch out than a top off on fuel. Tuning is a bit of a challenge on some days but once you get that sorted you can have hours on non stop fun with just seconds to refuel. I love it for the ability to go hours with minimum pit stop time. A top off of fuel is just quicker than a charge and swap. Just my opinion

    • @antonnimaker4391
      @antonnimaker4391 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan96se doesn't the motor get overheated if you drive for hour. I have a electric buggy and I have six batteries and I can drive for a long time with that. Changing batteries doesn't take long like 10 sec and you're of. Of course it takes about 1 hour per battery if they are empty but often they still have some power left so less then a hour. I charge them when it is dark out or if I don't drive. And with nitro you have to buy fuel and that could get expensive fast. With batteries you buy a battery and then you never have to buy it again. And nitro let out gases that are dangerous but electric doesn't do that. Btw I like nitro I just prefer electric

    • @Ryan96se
      @Ryan96se 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I may get an electric car just to try one out. I would like to add that batteries do wear out, are also expensive, not usually disposed of properly and contain chemicals that are highly toxic to you and the environment. Lithium Polymer batteries are also well known for catching fire when pushed to their limits. Most people don't know that the manufacturing process of rechargeable batteries is more harmful to the environment than an internal combustion engine will release in dangerous emissions in its entire life. I get enjoyment out of having to know and tune my car. I see that as part of the Hobby. Most folks these days just want instant gratification. Pop in a battery and go. It is the easier way and a quiet option for sure. They're freakin fast when they're charged up. Electric engines overheat as well as Nitro but on a nitro engine just open up the fuel mixture and rip on. More fuel you dump in the cooler the engine will get. No down time unless you seriously ignore your engines signs of overheating.

      hi, I have both, one Hyper VS electric (among others) and a Kyosho DRX Nitro. You guys are both right :-). Nitro cars take some time to setup properly, and you also have to charge the glow starter, but once you're running, you can just keep refilling the tank until you get tired, but you have to check temps as well... I always stop the engine after two tanks as a precaution. On the other side, the electric car needs to stop as well to let the motor cools down, but it requires less setup, you just plug the battery and off you go, and it can deliver all the power since the beginning while the nitro car needs to get the right temperature (like a real car).... they are just different, I love both :-D

    For all the hype about electric, were all these runs done on a fresh battery, or just one? With electric, power declines as weight remains the same. With nitro, power remains constant as weight decreases. I have gas, electric and nitro airplanes with nitro being my favorite, though running them for 52 years makes me rather familiar with their quarks. Gas, is just a lot cheaper to find and acquire.

    Nitro is a pain in the ass to learn but once you do, it's fantastic. more tunable, more visceral, between the smoke the feeling of reverberation you get in your chest as it wizz's by giving you that audible feedback clearly telling what the car is doing and, it can run indefinitely. And if you're a gearhead working on the engine is an entire hobby in itself. Batteries will always be a pain in the ass, charging batteries sucks, changing batteries sucks, more often then not too much bottom end and power, one pack is always different from the others, WAY more expensive and it's just boring in comparison (no noise, smoke, feeling). Batteries only positive is that they're great for beginners, short races and just messing around.

    It depends some gas rc cars are superior to electric it just depends what brand RC car u run yes the brand of RC car matters and if it has any upgrades like aluminum carbon fiber or titanium parts it always makes a gas car lighter on it's wheels and lastly the brand of engine u use the size of the engine and the type of gas used to make it run..electric is superior to most nitro rc cars when it comes down to 2 stroke gas cars though a good amount of the time the two stroke gas RC cars are superior only because the two stroke gas cars usually come ready to run with the lowest cc being a 30cc engine if u tune it right you'll smoke an electric rc car no problem and the highest cc engine you can get for a nitro car is if I'm not mistaken a 4.6cc and the fastest you can make a nitro car go with the biggest engine on it is about 65mph to 75 if u put all aluminum and carbon fiber upgrades and tune it for performance.... the two stroke gas RC cars can get up to 49cc engine's at least that's the biggest iv ever seen them being sold in a hobby shop for a 2 stroke gas RC car the 2 stroke 30cc stock engine's alone can hit 70 if tuned right the 2 stroke RC cars are almost every time superior to electric but like I said it really just depends on the car the upgrade parts you put on it and the engine and gas used to run your car but if its superiority over electric you're looking for get a two stroke gas RC car and put a 49cc engine in it or customise it an build a wide body kit and throw an 85cc engine in it then ull have no problem beating electric😜🤯

    I just figure wich one has a longer play time. I think a gas engine would go longer on one tank vs an electric on one charge. Plus all those expensive batteries and electronics. Gas seems more rewarding and longer play time.

    Yes, electric is faster and accelerates faster. Yes, electric is cleaner. Yes, electric has better torque...
    Electric can evolve a lot but it will never be like nitro.
    Electric is just accelerating and braking and changing batteries.
    Nitro isnt only that. What is better about nitro is refueling in 5 seconds, fixing everything by yourself, tinkering the engine, smoke, smell, sound....
    That is something electric will never have.
    Smelling that sweat smell, the white smoke and the sound in the cold days are something that electric will never have.
    But thats for people who like mechanic. If you just want to race no matter everything else or want just to run 2 times a month no maintenance get a electric.
    But for me tinkering, smell smoke etc... are part of the hobby.
    Team nitro

    go electric

  • @phoenixlounge7656
    @phoenixlounge7656 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nahh guys always go for electric they are the key for race buggy and races.
    Reason:
    Nitro: If the nitro car flips and rolls or gets in water, it can cause lots of care to get it up and running again. Plus when nitro is in a street or in built up areas, it's loud and really loud if people are in there houses. Also when you go to the RC hard ware the Nitro is really expansive to buy, and that is including the parts for it as well when something broken or something to add it is really pricey to get.
    Electric: With electrics they are easier to fix and construct addons and ect on the electric RC car. Also with the electric RC cars they are much more safer if you crash in to a gutter or a wall, reason for that is if you smash something on it, it's electric, and what i mean by that is that, the electrics aren't that damaged, where the Nitro car can get broken and the fuel pump will be hard to fix and repair, in you're time.
    Also much more quite to run.
    ELECTRICS WAY TO GO
    NITRO FUN TO PLAY IN AIR FIELDS WHEN IT IS LOUD

      +thr0nic I've been Racing RC cars for many years now and I've had them all, nitro and electric. I currently own a B5M Lite 1/10th scale electric buggy, and a Sc5m 1/10th scale elec. SCT both the newest from Team Associated. (About to order an RC8B3)
      Nitro cars are alot more expensive A LOT, a race performance engine is $600? My elec. race performance brushless sensored motor, top of the line, best you can get was $150. Thats a Huge difference. 1/8th scale nitro kits $500-$600? Both my kits together were less than $600.
      Also as long as i've been doing this I've never caught fire from a Lipo battery, and ive hit walls, trees, curbs, cars, etc...worst is you break lots of stuff, usually my esc and motor are ok.
      Also its alot easier to charge a battery and go than to continuously be tuning a nitro car to run right. This just isnt as convenient to run as elec. cars are.
      I like both but i understood what TRYTOGAME was trying to say, my local track is going to start doing 1/8th scale nitro but only on Sunday afternoons for a reason, and that's because of the inconvenience and noise. I will be joining the 1/8th scale nitro class once we start doing it, but I honestly doubt it'll be consistent enough to keep it going. It'll die out eventually.

      @Hazardous1110 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +thr0nic So you prefer for me to compare none existing 10th scale nitro race kits to 10th scale electric kits? (offroad) There's a reason why I compared 1/8th to 10th scale, because I was referring to racing not bashing. don't be an arrogant douche, otherwise no one will like you ;)

So really you're just being a troll, we all know your kind, and that's why you get as far as receiving a ;) from me.

      As someone who has both I can tell you nitro is satisfying when tuned right, and it feels awesome at the track. But electric is on another level performance wise, with 6s, they're simply more powerful and much faster. But again you don't get that raw sound. I'd say they're both equally as fun but electric you don't have to bother with fuel, tuning, bump starting, stalling, glow plugs etc. So for me personally electric takes the win.

      I like my electric cars to.....they are less hassle, and easy to get ready for a quick bash...not as much fun overall for me..but much more convenient...not so messy as Nitro...and less to carry when out in the field...so to speak.

    Electric is way better than nitro because you end up spending way less on electric than nitro because once you have all the electronics and the battery that's it you don't have to spend any more money! Nitro on the other hand you have to constantly keep refilling with nitro or gas depending on which type you have and that uses up way more money over time than electric. I may get a Losi 22 this summer which will be awesome!!
