Paint it red just like the Fireball Hardtail

I just did! I will post a video in the next week with me talking about the vise build and showing me painting it red! Great minds think alike! haha

Thanks! I am hoping my son’s sons will be using or beyond!

With proper maintenance & care your great grandchildren will be using that vise. Now you need to lube & paint it to prevent rust.

You read my mind on this one! I wanted a vise that my son will use and my sons’s son will use! I love the raw steel look. Is paint the only way?

    • @j.l.emerson592

@mooseworks Yes, paint is the only way. And... Be prepared to strip the paint off & repaint it at least once a decade. Haven't you seen any of the many bench vise restorations on TH-cam? Rust can ruin your beautiful vise. It's better to bite the bullet & paint it. In my opinion, hammered type paints look best.

Maybe your daughter or granddaughter will be using that vise... The BEST welder that I ever knew was a middle-aged woman named Dee-Dee... She was the best I have ever seen on a job site in the southern United States. Her welding was a work of art. I mean really & truly perfection. She never failed an x-ray or a bend test. Believe me... They tested her more than any of the male welders, just trying to find a weld to fail! We worked at most of the same job sites for 2 years & in 2 years she passed every weld test they threw at her.

Spot on advise! I will paint it for sure now. I do not want rust!!!!

You are exactly right! We have a few women welders where I work that are awesome! I said son because I only had a son when I commented. But now I have a daughter, so my daughter's daughter could be using this for years to come😂👍

I actually watched your video among a few other videos to design this one! Thanks for commenting! Definitely Sub'd now. 👍👍👍
I absolutely love mine so far and it is a lot stronger than I expected. Should be useful for years to come!

@@mooseworks yeah i dont even remember from who i take that design, but big part was from fireballtools. his explanation why this type of vises are great and have largest openings and dont take much space was enough to understand that I have chosen the most suitable design for me

Same experience here. He did a very good job explaining everything. I am a structural engineer and a lot of the reasoning he uses is spot on. I might make a video explaining some of that from an engineering standpoint. But maybe not... Gunna start working on a belt sander project like yours!
