    My son went to Sandy hook Sunday. I told him about the epoxy jig from watching your videos. So he bought a bunch before going. He caught 45 cocktail blues and 2 fluke. He called me up so excited had such a good time. Said the epoxy jig was great.😊 😊😊😊

    Any tips on increasing hook up ratio when using singles on epoxy jigs specifically tipped with gulp. I am getting lots of hits but the blues often seem to manage to avoid getting hooked preventing me landing them. Usually they tear up the gulp too but that’s to be expected. Do you also experience this sometimes or could it be something I’m doing wrong?
    Also, the violet gulp is indeed special. I’ve done side by side tests and it seems to outperform from what I can tell.

    • @BobAquatic
      @BobAquatic  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yo that violet was a cool find, I got a couple other new colors I found recently but they ain't working like that violet does. Curious how it'll do when the water cools/ clears up. I usually work the bottom if its a gulp trailer so the blues aren't much of an issue but it could be other interference fish giving you problems like porgy. Maybe more of an aggressive snap style popping retrieve if you're working the bottom? I've found alternating retrieve styles to make or break a good bite.
      For the blues try pulling the gulp off and do a quick straight retrieve to increase the hook up ratio. It might take a couple casts but you'll get a better hook set vs. a jig/pop style retrieve. Really steady sub-surface retrieve.

      It'll always be matching whatever the forage is. Gotta change it up depending on what the fish want and are focused on. The Buck tail jig

      Hey what's up! I got a few slammer reels, usually start switching to them as the fall gets going. Did you try the Hogy site? Its a popular color so it does sell out often. I wouldn't sleep on Pink, Albie crack, bone, shrimp, olive, green, they all work real well and sometimes will out fish silver in certain scenarios. Olive is incredible for striped bass. Or the Kastmaster will work just as well

    • @novaday8813

    • @BobAquatic
      @BobAquatic  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question 4sizle. It does less damage to the fish and I prefer the hook set/ overall fight on single vs. treble. Takes a little getting used to but I prefer them and stopped using trebles a few years back.
