In todays video i tested out american(united states) fishing lures in Europe. These lures were sent to me by one of my subscribers on youtube. Thank you MishMashPotatt for the lures!
My goal is to catch any fish. Let it be pike, perch or more rare species like brown trout, chub, grayling or asp.
I tested these lures on 3 different difficulty waterbodies and set my self challenges that i needed to complete. If i don't manage to complete all the challenges then there will be a forefeit!
I really had a lot of fun making this video.

The inline spinner - the one that caught the perch, can catch almost anything. Very flexible. The only thing to consider is putting a swivel before the leader. It will help prevent too much twist from occurring on the line.
It really did work for everything. I usually use leaders with swivels on them already or if i fish without leaders then i use a swivel and a snap. I've tried a few times without and you can really feel how it affects your casting etc when the line starts twisting.
@@NorlingFishing Word of advice with the beetle spin. Put one of those other paddle tail plastics on it. I think it's better than standard spinner lures.

Do you have luck with using the same size that he did in the video? The 1/16 oz? I think the smallest one i use is 1/8oz for when i fish in smaller streams/rivers. Is 1/16 generally the most effective for the smaller fish? Or do you think 1/8oz is fine.
@@chrismark3600 I've had great luck with 1/16th oz options. I switched over to a whippy salmon type rod and braid for ultralight lures.
1/8th oz is also great, probably a bit more flexible for a stiffer rod.

Here in Southeastern NC USA I use the Johnson Silver minnow for almost everything. On one 1/4oz gold silver minnow I’ve caught a bluefish, a redfish, speckled trout, chain pickerel, flounder, largemouth bass, big crappie, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, and when I go to Florida I use it for snook and snapper. Super versatile. The beetle spin is a classic, catches everything in fresh water.
Seems like a wonder lure that works for absolutely anything!

i love little crappie jigs i've caught bass trout perch pikeminnow and crappie on them, one time i got 33 fish in one day

Beetle spin is my go to for anything, or if the bite is slow I know it’ll get a hit, but you had it backwards lol 3:10

Chatterbaits, whites in particular are considered to be a really good bait. I think the lure you called a crankbait was a whopper plopper, also a really good lure, it runs along the top of the water and makes a really satisfying noise when reeling in.
I did catch some pike later on with the chatterbait. They seemed to really like it.
Blue fox vibrax spinner is really good for most fish.

Loved the video! Here in United States, my favorite lure for pike is a lipless crankbait. Big fish on an ultralight rods put up a really fun fight🎣

reminds me of the time where i lost a 5kg pike along with my soft plastic and jighead right at the bank of my local river, miracle happened and after a few days caught the same pike again and this time secured and got my soft plastic lure back so it was very cool getting the same individual again!

It is my second one so i know how you feel. I lost mine in the brush while wading. I will never get the magnetic one again.
I'm not an expert or anything, but for what I've seen, it's customary to dress up the chatterbait with a soft plastic worm or minnow. I think one of the Elaztech slim swimZ should probably do the job.
I did try it later with a soft soft plastic and caught a pike. I will google the lure you mentioned. Really enjoyed fishing with the chatterbait.

Nearly all European lures, have their origin in the US. ABU in svangsta started to makes copies of well know US lures already in the 60'th. Like the Hi-Lo(copy of Heddon Lycky), or the Flamingo(Copy of the Dardevle). Later I remember the Killer(Copy of the Rebel style lure, that agian, was a plastic copy of the Original Rapala :)).

I have to correct myself.The Hi-Lo was a copy of the Heddon RIver Runt. Later ABU copied the Heddon Lycky 13. ABU called it Cello, and made it out of soft plastic insted of wood. One could argue that ABU was not making 1:1 copies, but actually develloped a type of lures further. In that sence, nearly all crankbaits are originating from some sort of Rapala designs ;)

Is pike and perch the main targeted species over there? Any largemouth or smallmouth bass?
There are no native freshwater bass in the Europe if I recall correctly. The sport fishing revolves around carp (common, mirror, grass), Perch, Pike, and Zander (which is like a walleye on steroids).
To be fair, the perch typically get bigger in Europe as well and are reminiscent of small mouth in terms of how you target them (sans top water).
We mostly target perch, pike and zander. We don't have any largemouth or smallmouth bass on this part of the EU.
Your fishing pike we call them northern pike in America 🇺🇸 nice fish.

In rivers look for slack waters or deep holes. Soft plastic lures work very well that imitate baitfish.
tasmanian devils are definitely the best lures in the world, especially for murkier waters

Spinners are best lures definitely all species of predator fish will eat a spinner bait
On rivers they are so good. You can catch anything. Fishing on a new river is like playing loto with spinners. Never know the outcome.
You used the chatter bait wrong. you could have put the Zman body on the chatter bait.
Yes sir. Realized it later and did fish it with extra soft plastic on it. Actually managed to catch a pike as well. Awesome lure!

I think the Russians proved that everything can be used as a bait. Their poor man's bait is a simple carrot with hooks. It's all down to the individual's skills and determination
I have seen that kind of a lure been used on TV. I really want to try it next year. Seems crazy that you can carve a carrot and add hooks to catch predatory fish.

What rod and reel combo are you using?
for my pike setup i used a basara 18 by lucky john and daiwa 2500 lt reel. Light setup.

What kind of line you have on the ninja reel?
I had a 4.8kg octo braid if i’m not making a mistake.
try not to put the lures hooks on the O rings where the line goes trought. it might scratch the line if it gets damaged.
Good tip! I have a special small loop on the rod where to attach the lure to. I use that 90% of the time.

Hi Marten, first lake only holds mostly small fish so it is nothing special. Second one is out in the wilderness without any access unless you kayak fish and carry it over a field and through a forest.

Europeans would freak over the fish I catch in ponds in the USA daily. 4-8 pound bass are super fun

Yes they seem like a lot of fun. Catching an 8 lb pike is just as much fun. We usually use quite light gear for fishing.
Peacock bass is a dream fish to catch. Maybe one day. I don’t like the gators tho haha

@@Prodbylaxx that’s because this fish isn’t close to 88cm. This pike is probably 65 - MAX 70cm but I don’t think so.

Perhaps you can help me. MUST I use a metal leader when fishing for Pike? Or can I use like 30LBS Mono Leader? (15 Kilos Leader)?
Use a fluorocarbon leader or a steel leader. I mostly use fluorocarbon leaders because underwater they are almost see through and pike will not cut you off.
@@NorlingFishing Appreciate it, excited to try next time in Sweden with Fluorocarbon and not metal. Last quick questions. 1. What mms do you use of Fluro or how many LBS? and 2. Can you use MOno instead of Fluro? Much cheaper.
@@JonathanAKuhn Fluoro is much stronger at the same mm than mono line. I would go for like a 10-12kg test that is more than enough.

We don’t reall use softplastic worms for fishing here. We do have some but nothing like in the US.

Had to translate it but yes you need a fishing license. On some rivers you need 2. Regular overall fishing license and then the daily ticket.

I think musky tackle companies are sometimes a little behind on lure technology so I like to use European pike lures for Musky here in Wisconsin.

You rigged the beetlesping wrong the blade is meant to run adjacent with the plastic like a spinnerbait.
I realized it later. Made a few casts after when it was on the right now. Thanks for pointing it out.
I played basketball in Tallinn for kalev for a few years I would go fishing in pirita marina on my off days I always wished I could have went fishing in the back country for pike and trout looks so beautiful

You can but we don’t use the same lures here. Very unusual for us to use chatterbaits etc.
