Do not clench the fist on your face, if somebody punches, your fist is gonna smash your face. Open your hands and bend your fingers slightly is a better option. I always go open hand so I can parry, trap, and grab.
Short parry downwards. Think of the gesture you make when something stinks… similar to that lol or you can bring your elbow inwards toward sternum. So think diagonal forearm in a tight guard.

Not sure this is what works nowadays. This paradigm have been surpassed. We've seen Dutch guard fighters being outmaneuvered, manipulated with long guard fighters. It is just too static defensively. This style is to much forward positioned. If you rotate your hips and stand sideways, your whole upperbody is sized in half, and only one side of your body can be aimed for a body shot. The disadvantage is that you won't be able to do elbow hits as quickly as the original Muay thai stance, but you can do it if you want
