@@grumpypapaw3228 yep, for sure! I've replaced gears in lower units, gimbal bearings, and rebuilt engines....most of that was 15-20yrs ago tho.... lol. I have an ATV jack that I thought about tying the foot to while woking on it and can possibly lift & lower as needed? Thanks for sharing your video. It looks like patience and more patience is the key.
I say this with constructive criticism. No offense! Never use a steel punch against these soft suspension fork hinge pins. If they should become expanded any, they will be very difficult to remove, and more difficult to re-install. Always use an aluminum or brass punch! Also, you will find it much easier if you were to remove the transmission FIRST and ONLY before attempting to remove the entire stern drive as a unit. This is much easier, and it gives us better access to the shift cable keeper, S hose clamp, drive shaft bellows, etc. not to mention how much less weight there will be to deal with! When going back together, install the suspension fork w/ the Intermediate housing and lower gear unit, and then install the transmission last! As another note, the AFT PDS seal shown is installed incorrectly. The seal lip and tension spring should be facing AFT..... not FWD. In other words, this seal installs in the non-conventional direction. Again.... no offense intended.
Saw your video and liked it. One question though. What tool are you using for removing/installing the propeller cone? I suspect its an allan head of some sort....
Question, did the ujoint yoke slide in easily onto the drive shaft (the one on the boat connected to the flywheel)? Did it go in about 1 inch or just the tip? I took mine apart and it slid out easily but now am having a hard time putting it back on. It seems that the yoke is too small for the shaft. It only connects about 1/4 inch.
It should slide in easily once you have it lined up. If you can only get a 1/4 inch, you have the yoke on an angle. You'll have to reach in the bellow with your opposite hand and hold the yoke as level as possible. Once you have the yoke lined up at the same angle, it should slide on easily and about 1 to 2 inches.
@@grumpypapaw3228 Thanks. I did some research on iboats forum and apparently there have been cases where the splines get warped for some reason. Had to do a bit of filing and now she slides in all the way.

You'll save yourself a ton of money doing it yourself. Some marinas in my area charge over 2500 to replace.
