This Lawnboy mower wouldn't start so the problem is usually the carb. After inspecting the carb it had a few issues that after fixing allowed the mower to start and run. Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
You explain the hard job very easily. Good job
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Great fix👍 I always liked those ole 2 stroke lawn boys
Thank you Alan Marshall for the comment I appreciate it.
Nice editing on this one, Home Garage. It's definitely worth washing and waxing this Lawn Boy. Lawn Boy mowers have a cult following and will earn you good money. For those who don't know, that is a Mikuni carburetor, similar to the ones used on Toro 2-cycle snowblowers of the last 20 years. Thank you, Home Garage! And hey, it would help to wire brush the spark plug.
Thank you for the comment. I personally like them a lot. Great mowers
@@HomeGaragechannel Yes, even being sold as parts bodies they are worth $20 a pair as you saw in a previous slideshow (engines broke internally).
Tried everything as recommended : replaced filter and spark plug, took apart the carburetor, cleaned out everything; new mower, too! I will never buy Lawn-Boy again.
I understand how you feel. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Thanks I have a self propelled lawn boy and I am really struggling to get it started
sorry to hear that
Good work. FYI the cork floats often go bad make sure that one is still good
Thanks Dave for the great tip. I'll check it later and see there is a problem.
I recommend mixing non ethanol free 32:1 High Test pump gas, keep up the good work man.
You are absolutely right about that. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Im a fan of lawnboys and good editing.lol. good job brother.
Thank you Dave as always I appreciate it.
Ok.. Last time I followed your video. It worked great.... But this time it still won't start
so you cleared the jet? do me a favor and remove the air filter cover and air filter, spray some gas in the the carb and try starting it. If it starts and stays running then, theres a choke lever issue. if it still doesn't start, did you confirm that it had spark?
as always another great repair ! thanks :)
Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate it.
Excellent. Very helpful. Thanks. God bless.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video
thank you Christopher Vela
Wow, Lawnboy has really gotten cheap since the last one I owned
when did you last own one?
Have a lawn boy very similar to that model. Takes about 12 pulls to start and smoke a lot once it starts. When done mowing your body reaks of gas & oil. Any idea where can get replaceable parts for these old gems?
I get my parts from Amazon
Do you have any suggestions for an engine that gets flooded ? As soon as I put fuel in it prime it, then it just starts coming out the muffler after I pull the cord a time or two. Then it starts dripping from the bottom through the plate. I have 2 different carbs and they do the same thing. I had it running perfectly. I've gone through this mower over and over.
Also want to add is the exact same model a 10247
thanks for the information. You didn't mention if the 2 carbs you had were new, or used ones? If they're used, have you considered getting a new carb?
My 2006 lawn boy dura force has these issues but not my 70's lawn boy, always starts first few pulls
you got that right, these are great mowers!
@@HomeGaragechannel the 2006 carb may have issues that the 70's one doesn't, but they both always start!
I's so tired of hearing about these "free" curbside pickups and these $20.00 commercial "F" series mower purchases I could just shit. It's like you ain't cool if you don't find a free one. Bull Shit....but hey....really good video content and good fix / repair.
thanks
This was the end of the line for 2 cycle lawn boys Dura flunk motors
Poor Ing mods and drill
Out the main jet
These engines are awesome! But the carbs and ignition coils SUUUUCK! Figure a way to get more robust coil and a walbro metal carb on one of these and you're great grand children will be mowing with it. Assuming that gasoline engines are still legal, of course.
you make a great point. Thank you Mike Morgan
What kind of fuel do they use? You said 2 cycle....
36:1 2 cycle mix
Mine says 32:1, I'm guessing he mistyped, but maybe they went to a leaner mixture.
what solution did you to soak the carburetor part to remove all that gunk ?
Metal parts just spray with carb cleaner. I don't soak them tho.
I have a gold series I tried to fix it I think thaf I couldn't get the governor back right.
that's a shame.
Just got one. It does not start, but first I have to know what type of fuel and how much does it need? Also, what type of oil it takes (the stick does not show a trace of oil at all and a quantity needed? Thanks!
this is a two cycle engine so you need to mix "2 cycle" oil with gasoline. try a ratio of 32 gasoline to 1 part oil.
Are you sure it has an oil stick if it’s a 2 stroke?
What the heck is easy about this??? 😢
Oh it could have been much much harder. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Pretty much everything.
i called them lawn mowers tuba mowers
I can see why.
I have one of these mowers but it has an issue where it dumps gas directly into the cylinder and hydro locks it, I already checked, and the needle sits relatively well. Can someone give potential solutions or a link to a good budget carburetor?
did you check to see if the float is still buoyant?
@Home Garage excellent point! I was going to replace it but didn't have a float that would fit, I forgot to test it. I appreciate the help, and a new one is on the way!
No problem let me know, how it goes. Also it would be best to make a new comment as "replies" don't show up as new comments and will stay with the original comment, which could be a couple of days old.
Hello Home garage I think lawn Boy lawn mowers are crap.
Its understandable. Thanks for the comment
They are
not very informative. how about showing the problem ? all you showed was a solution. I have one I pulled 100 times to get it to start, you left that out , if I wanted a how to rebuild a carb, well, I can do that without instruction
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it
mine is an S217 ZSM, 155B449, S21ZSM''Y'' or '4'' ? H , 21'' 1991 may 15th build found at roadside a few days later saw him outside and had a chat, he bought a zeroturn and hadn't used it in over a year. it did finally start and I used it but it is hard to start
@@carmineredd1198 can you confirm that the choke is working properly? These have a tendency for the choke to not fully close.
not sure ? there is a plastic slide thing with words on it but no arrows , I've tried it forward and backwards , I don't which position its supposed to be in
@@carmineredd1198 unfortunately I don't have a video on this topic it was just something I noticed.
