Thank you very much for your videos!! i live in Mexico and its hard to find good advice... i have a 2006 SX230 and been starting to do all the work my self. take care !!
Jeff, been following your videos I think I've watched them all! I have a 2014 AR240 that we love. We are up in Lake county, IL and keep ours on Fox Lake. Hope you had a great summer! The days are already getting shorter!! 8(
If your taking the time to remove the impeller housings why not just store them indoors take a rubber glove and stuff it in the shaft barrel to the intermediate ... the freezing and thawing cause the housings to expand over the winter ... these housings are VERY HARD TO GET NOW ! .... you just made me re think my winterizing process bro !
I'm not worried about the pumps getting damaged from a Central Illinois winter. This boats sit outside all day at the Tennessee Yamaha Marine plant's parking lot and it snows down there too.
Thanks for all of your video work, Jeff! It helps so much! When I removed my pumps to check their clearances, there was residue at the connection seam and in the bolt holes from some kind of sealant. I know you don't use sealant when you just pulled the impeller, but what about where the wear ring attaches to the mounting plate? Thanks!
They use a tread locker from the factory(blue loctite - medium strength) but in my opinion and experience it is not needed. I do not use it nor did we use it when working on them in the shop. But, if you want to use it, there is no problem doing it, just only use a drop of it on the treads. You can cause stripped bolt threads by using too much.
Hi Jeff, Thanks again for all the help with your videos. I’m looking for a cover recommendation. Do you use an OEM cover or something else? I haven’t seen the best reviews for the OEM covers. Thanks, Jeff
Oem cover it what I use and recommend. We trailer our boat 30 minutes to the lake from our house at 65-70mph and it has held up for over 4 years. Sometimes I have to take it to my local upholstery shop for minor repairs, typically seams around the velco areas by the tower legs which only cost like $40 to repair.
I tape over all of my hull fittings to keep the bugs out but if you use your oem cover or shrink wrap and the strap is tight, they are not getting in. I don't do use moth balls either.
Hi Jeff great videos advise, I did follow your recommendations to winterize the boat, now as I was putting it Bach together I realized that the impeller shaft may need greasing. Do I need to do this step ?
None of these steps in this video are critical to boat storage for cold weather or even storing your boat in the dessert except for treating the fuel tank and that only needs to be done if you are not using your boat for 4-5 months. The rest is just checking the boat over for worn items and fixing anything before the next season starts.

Thank you Jeff, enjoy your videos. We have a 2006 SX230 and this year is our 1st winter with it. Will be following your advice, thank you!
Stayed tuned, part 2 will be out in 1 week! It will cover winterizing the engines.
@@JeffDoesThis do you change your oil in the spring or fall? I was planning to change my oil and plugs in the spring
I change mine in the Fall. Plugs in the spring.
Great video Jeff, I enjoyed watching it, very polished.
Thank you for the kind words.
Weather is awesome here in FL!😁
Enjoy those alligators and crocodiles. I will take a few months of cold weather versus getting eating by an animal or crack head😁

Jef interested in how you clean the engine bay. Nevermind found it 👍

Great video, thanks! Do you do anything to help prevent mice from getting in over the winter?

I do it and if you forgot to do it it only takes 5 minutes to pull the pump, grease the shaft and then bolt it on.
What brand of poles do you have? Also any tips on repairing the main cabin drain by the engine bay. Mine is stripped out.
If you are talking about my boat cover poles then oem yamaha.
the Manhole Cover Assy on my Yamaha Ar230 it is stuck, any recommendation how to remove it?
thanks for all the nice video...
I haven't run into that issues yet. This is why I clean my clean out plugs every year(which I have a video on that).
I had the same problem and came across this video. It worked for me, good luck. th-cam.com/video/22pmy5mulL8/w-d-xo.html
