I have a 2009 AR230, so essentially the same boat. Your videos are awesome and you are an organizational genius! Thank you for the great information and motivation to make my boat more functional and enjoyable. You totally rock!
Great vids man!!! It is such a piece of mind to see others with informational videos for all of us that want to work on our own stuff. Very informative. Keep up the great work Jeff!!!
Hey jeff great videos, I bought a sx230 recentlu and they've helped me a ton. On marine mat vs carpet - I was going to replace all the carpet but decided to do the transom first to see how the material holds up to daily use vs carpet and I've found the marine mat to be harder to maintain than the oem carpet. The carpet seems to absorb things and not show dirt but marine mat is showing all the smudges and I can tell will require upkeep. Gonna stick with carpet until it dies, it seems like it will last forever though. Yamaha did a good job with that part of the boat. Thanks again for the vids jeff !
They make the Marine Mat to snap in just like the carpet so you can take it out whenever. When you're ready to replace the carpet it may be worth looking into. It looks sharp!
Such a beautiful boat. Thanks for contributing so much to the community. I had no idea this existed but sure am glad I found your content. Be safe and God bless you and yours!
@@JeffDoesThis Mr. Jeff, you mentioned you will redo your stereo system at some point. May I ask you, what brand of tower speakers you may recommend? I know I can pick up Wet Sound (used) for about $900 but wasn't really looking to drop that much. Anything lower priced you would thinks is a good alternate? Thank you sir.
Keep up the educational videos. I have the exact same boat and you have saved me on a lot of things. We have marine mat in the entire boat and love it. It tends to get hot in the summer if not shaded.
Jeff, appreciate you putting out such great content on your experiences with your 230. I have the same model and yr down to the exterior color. It is our first boat and my family and I are learning a lot in a short amount of time since we picked it up last fall and live in the PNW. So we are making use while we can. I swapped the carpet out at the beginning of the season with a the full marine mat kit and we love it. We have a 13 yr old son and 9 yr old daughter with a slew of their rotating friends and it cleans up great and dries quickly from our experience. The biggest thing is the sand is super easy to get out of the boat when it is tracked in from the beaches. I don't often comment on videos, but your videos have helped me so if my input can help you in a small way I thought I would toss it in. Thanks again and keep up the great content. (Maybe some performance runs at various rpms with corresponding speed and what you have found to be the best cruise speed at plane for efficiency etc.)?
Love the tour! Great boat! Hope to find all those little upgrades. I have an 05 AR230 HO. Lots of custom upgrades from previous owner. Looks like yours has more storage, as i struggle to find places when i have a full boat of friends aboard. Great videos btw, and i often reference your page for maintenance questions. CAPT Leon just did a tour vid of his, you guys together have a lot of great info!
Another Great Video! Very interesting how much more access you have than we do. I can't get behind the helm at all in the 2013 model. Also our cubby doesn't have the same wood panels on either end like yours does. It just flows open to the bow seat cushions. Did you install those wood panels? I would like to be able to hang the shelf like you have. Thanks!
Those wood panels are OEM. Instead of gel coating over the fiberglass to give it that finished look(your boat) they used wood panels with carpet(cheaper way).
Love your videos. I have the exact same boat. Question about the scupper valve. Is this something that is truly necessary? Seems like a huge PITA to grind the stainless replacement scupper and move all the junk and replace it. BUT Ive seen so many people talk about sinking risk. What are your thoughts?
You can replace it with just the plastic one. No problem, but if you go with the stainless steel one, you'll never have to replace it again. The plastic ones can fail after 6 or 7 years of use. By then you're probably on a different boat anyway.
Hi Jeff, I'm shopping the Krypt Flat Cargo Wakeboard tower bimini you're using and am wondering what options you chose: -bimini width: 53, 62 or 77 inches? -lift fitting - you went with the over-tower mount, right (based on your video). Advantages/disadvantages of each? -what clamp mount size did you use? I have the same boat/tower.
I have 2 videos on my Krypt Bimini Top which is will go over your questions, an installation video and a on the water review and test, I would watch them both. I went with the X-Large and my clamp size is 1" 7/8". th-cam.com/video/cBBKfiaw_KI/w-d-xo.html
@@JeffDoesThis I can't find much info on warranty from Krypt... is there anything provided re: warranty? Compare with Reborn? Both Krypt and Reborn are now selling through Amazon - you can get 2 yr protection there (not sure what that's worth!) BTW really enjoying your videos. Did the Dynamat install this weekend. I'm also getting ready to wire in a float switch - do you know anything about where the bilge pump wiring goes? It looks like it feeds through a hole in the back of the transom. I watched your video on the cleanout tray to see if I could see it, but there's stuff in the way.
Hey Jeff - They say people being towed behind the boat should wear some kind of wet suit shorts to keep from being injured by the force of the water jets. What do you think about this?
Jeff I have same boat not sure you can answer this question. My starboard mr1 engine stall if I leave idle for 5 minutes than it takes a good 15 to 20 minutes to get started again. No problem at high rpms. I did a compression test all around 170. Have any idea what I could check next Rich
You will need to scan it and watch the live data to find out. Do this first, remove the air filter, run it on the hose for 5 minutes or until it stalls out, then pull the spark plugs out and look at them. If they are very wet then you have an injector stuck open or dumping too much fuel into it. I would start there.
Hey Jeff, any idea what would cause the following problem:: today I took out my 2006 SX230. It was working perfect. I stopped and tied off for about 2 hours and when I went to start back up I got absolutely nothing from my port side engine. Not even a click!
It's been forever since I did a top speed run, reason being our bimini top is always up and surfboards/wakeboards in the rack but..... with the tower removed, just me in the boat 52mph on GPS.
Not sure how to direct question to you so used the tour video. Any way, very slow oil leak. Very frustrating not to be able to fix easily. Do you know how much to pull the engine on average? Just got this boat and am praying every is ok. Tested before purchasing and it ran great. I used a borescope camera and it looks like the leak is a bolt on the oil pump that is impossible the get at with tools . Can't access as designed. Yamaha did not need to design it the like this. Have to live with it I guess. Yamaha likes you to go to the dealer of course! Just don't like the bottom of engine with drips of oil on it. Do you think AT-205 oil additive would be ok to try? Very slow leak.
I don't know how much to pull an engine these days. But I will tell this, gasoline engine leak and burn oil, all of them. If oil leak is just a little tiny drip then I would not even worry about it. I'm assuming your boat in a AR/SX 230 series? If so, the boat is 15 years old, and I would just deal with it. As long as there is oil in the engine you will be just fine.
Thanks Jeff. Thanks for a quick reply. Boat is sx192 2015 just purchased. water run performance was good with owner. Praying everything is ok. You are very helpful TO A obsessive compulsive boat owner! LOL😅

It's a really easy kit to use, come with instructions and you can buy a crimper at any hardware store.
