    I have a 2001 Limited. How do I find out if mine has this feature?

    • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      So the easiest way is probably to go on toyota.com/owners and register your VIN. Under the "my vehicle" tab at the top, you can select "vehicle specs" and it will pull up all of the factory specs for your truck. My security system is factory installed and labeled "VP CONVENIENCE PKG W/KEYLES ENTRY PWR". You could also call your local Toyota dealer and have them run your VIN if you can't get a good answer from the website. Hope this helps, thanks for watching! - Sal

    Oh my gosh I LOVE you!!! I’ve had the correct fob for two years and couldn’t get it to pair. The missing step was moving the two electrical connections. And finally SUCCESS!!! As a thank you I will be praying for you and for your intentions!! You’re the best!!!!

    Sal--I wanted to say Thank You for making reference to the Toyota Owners site (in many of your videos). Based on Carfax, I didn't see that my '03 Tundra had ever had the timing belt done, but then when I checked the Owners site, I saw it was done 4 years and 26,000 miles ago. You literally saved me $1,100 on an appointment for next week.

    Thanks for this video! You explained it so clearly, especially the location of the RS3000 box. I bought my 2002 two years ago and this was one of the first things I tried to do, but couldn't find that box. I don't think I found any post in any of the forums that said it could be behind the air duct. I couldn't see the green button on the box, and removed it from it's stud. From there, i could actually see the security light light up like the manual said, that helped with the timing especially clearing previous remotes from the system. I had been slacking off on the minor upgrades on mine, but I think you're one of the few still making content on the First Gen. I'm enjoying the videos, I like that they are short and simple, but heavy on good content. Keep it up.

    I wrote down the instructions for the video on the 2015 Tacoma, I haven't tried them yet, but your tutorial was alot more informative since my truck is a 2007 tundra alot closer in age and the key fob I got off Amazon actually had the same ID # that is listed on the back of my key fob I'll check out the info in your links and maybe I can do this with out a dealer or locksmith or renting a tool from someone online so thanks again

    Several years ago I attempted to program the remote that came with the 02 Tundra I had purchased from a previous owner. Zero success. Totally gave up. I think I even tossed the remote. A month or so ago my lock cylinder on the drivers side door broke so I could no longer use the key to unlock the driver's side door. Instead of replacing the cylinder I revisited the idea of programming a remote. In researching this I came across your video. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Never heard anyone mention anything about switching the connectors. Not sure why the connectors would be set up from the Toyota factory to bypass the alarm system. Any thoughts on why? How did you discover this bypass? Thank you so much! Looking forward to watching your other videos for my Tundra!

    Hey, so I'm having trouble getting mine to pair and maybe you can help. I have the same year Tundra with the same alarm package, and ordered the same key fob. When I swapped the wires like you showed and turned the key to the on position, the doors did not lock. I pressed the green button but did not hear or feel a click when doing so, was that your experience also or did it click? Needless to say, when pressing the button on the fob after pushing the green button for 3 seconds, there was no beep. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with the alarm box, a short in the alarm wiring, or if there is something else I'm missing here. Any input would help.

      This confused me a ton haha but someone in the comments actually let me know that the bottom button is there to be programmed to another Toyota car that you own. Would unplugging the security module work?

    • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I would think that the best way to disable it is doing the reverse of my solution here with the looped wires. Before fixing it, you wouldn’t have known my truck had a security system or key fob. Just unplugging it could probably work too, but I’m not sure if that would mess anything up with some of the wiring going nowhere. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching - Sal

      Yeah I ran into the same problem because my truck didn't have a fob either. Unfortunately I think a good plan would be just getting both, and then returning whichever one doesn't work? Or getting one at a time. I'm no expert, and I haven't done research into this in a while so sorry I don't have too much help to offer. Hope you can get one working though, and thanks for watching!

    Unfortunately, this isn’t working for me, I’ve done it like 20 times and every once in a while, I get 2 beeps from my truck instead of one, but nothing else. I have two different fobs that I’m trying, and they both light up and click. They used to work, I don’t know what’s going on.

    • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm ok so the truck beeped 3 times when you pressed the green button? If your doors lock and unlock when you turn the truck on and off, then I would tend to think that it is a fob issue. But if they do not, then I would try to find out exactly which system you have. Once you know for sure, that will determine which fob FCC-ID you need. That is one of the most confusing things I ran into when researching this myself. • @JDMDriveway
      @JDMDriveway  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, the first thing I would check is the battery. I’m not 100% sure how to open these fobs but it looks like just the screw at the bottom and then pry it apart. If that doesn’t work, maybe try going through the pairing sequence anyways, because it’s possible that the led just isn’t working? Otherwise you may have just unfortunately got a bad unit - Sal
