You can just get the right tools for the job idk just my opinion

If you actually have been in a tire shop for 17 years then you know not a single manger or shop foreman would let you take that amount of time to mount and dismount tires… what I mean is yes the attention to detail is amazing but that takes literally so much time you would be able to get cars in and out efficiently enough to make money
So you can spend money on the “tools” or you can use some shop rags to protect the rims, all the years I’ve done tires I have never had to pay for a rim repair.
I have been using a Coats 15aa for years, I have to agree that aluminum rims need to pinched, not stretched. A extra lift is important, so the rim doesn't get damaged. Awsome share.
When it comes to the best quality at best price, I always prefer Michelin tyres as my experience with them since 6 years has been amazing. Completely satisfied!
Shame how some places don't even have access to this type of equipment. Most shops will do anything to save $, and cutting equipment costs is at the very top of the list.

If only firestone followed these steps my wheels wouldn't have been scratched and they blamed me for it, I made a mistake of not taking pictures of my wheels before letting them replace my tires. Next time I am def going to bring my car washed and cleaned and taking pictures because tardy people never take the blame. Bought a set of ET Mags and tires in the early 80s. When the tire store put the tires on the mags, they scraped large sections off the lip of the new wheels. I complained to the store manager and his reply was...... yes I know, the guy is new. 4 new ET mags with the lips scraped off. Warranty doesn't cover new tire installation.

i been changing tires for 30 plus years i cant count how many 50 k cars come in and never been washed - they aint gonna notice wheel weight glue . but it is a great service quality !

I say good luck since many places especially where there's snow around. They have laws that it's a mandatory to swap into winter tires by a certain date, as that comes closer, nearly every shops would be bombarded by tires (even hiring temps) to deal with the hundreds they do a day.
This is a great video I give you that, but for a fast fit tyre garage we own doing 40 tyres a day just In the bays is way too slow and would be so time consuming. We take levels of care also just much much faster
On the 1st rule you already messed up because the valve can break if you try to break the bead in the position. Also just basic liquid soap is great to as a lubricant no need to pay extra for fancy stuff like that
Dang watching this really made me think those well known named tire and wheel shops and their young kids installing new tires on new wheels. 😬. I have custom painted wheels and often wonder what if I need a tire repair how can I trust those shake and bake tire/wheel shop from scratching my painted wheels. After watching this video now I know why the custom wheel paint shop recommends to bring them the tire and they will carefully remove and install/balance the new one on the wheel.
Is it much more difficult to change a tire (I mean to replace it completely) at a low temperature? I did my 1st tire, balanced it, and ready for the 2nd one, but the temperature here dropped. I saw in one film how they heated the tire w/heat gun, but how much, where exactly, all that is kind of vauge. Also in that film they were working on tractor tires, I have just regular passenger car (R16 tires). My HF Tire Machine is mounted outside, while it is snowing I won't do anything, but tomorrow it will be clear. So I decided to do a small research on the subject meanwhile. At what temperature you can change tire more or less comfortably, can you do it @45F, or it is too low? My main concern is that I can tear the tire or burn it w/heater gun. Thank you for a great film, but would you do that procedure at a low temperature?
I use a Corghi Artiglio 50 for Mobile Tire Service which makes it much easier compared to the old Hunter machines to mount/dismount tires but I could def see myself 2-3 tools from this video. Anybody got the tool links for purchase?
It would be nice to have all these tools. But when you have to do 80-100 tires per day you can’t fallow on these steps but you sure can do it differently without damaging wheels. I do like the eraser wheel though!
It’s a pin stripe remover. Relatively common tool to get. Work great for the residue left on wheels when you have to reapply a weight in the same spot. Just keep a used one once worn down to get in tight spaces.

In reality, most shops don't make money from tires so they want that job done fast. If you are good at it then you ahould be able to do it fast and without damaging the rims. But as a mechanic, a really dont care what you do to my rims as long as you don't scratch the face on them and or damage the tire putting on. Also, match the damn yellow dot with the valve stem. My tire shop just did a screw repair. I drove off. Looking at it yesterday. 1/3 of the paint is scratched off my black rim! Ahhh how does this happen. Is this ever to be expected? Have they misplaced their tooling? They are new rims on a new car.

It's 2024 and we still have no way of using the internet to identify tire shops that have good technicians with gentle tire equipment vs old school equipment for steelies and hubcaps.
I've got a tyre shop and most of the stuff here are non existent problems because modern equipment comes with those accessories. Also, get a lever cover, who needs to faf about with rim covers.
does the duck head or any part of thar touch the outside of the rim?? the reason why I ask is because I recently had my 3rd set of tires mounted on my PVD COATED 18" WHEELS on my Ford escape and when I got my car back, I no5cied that on all 4 wheels the pvd coating was scratched or flaked off. the mechanic denied he damaged the rims even though it was obvious since they were never damaged before. as mentioned I have had my tires replaced 2 previous times and.never had this issue. would you be able to tell me how this would have happened or what he or the machine did to scratch the coating off the out edge.of all of my rims. FYI. I ended up keeping one of the older tires I had before the new ones were put on and I also noticed and pointed this out to the tech that some of that coating og the left front wheel was on that tire as well. he still denied he did damage even after that.
Break the front Break the back on both sides on the wheel When you go to set it on the tilt tower I lean the Side that is least lifted from the bead and press that into the furthest clamp then while pulling in the clamps your press down it’ll grab right on with stretch’s be sure you don’t grab the tire!!

This is great if you are changing tires on 1-3 vehicles per 8 hour shift. Realistically, if you are running through tens of cars per day, there is absolutely no room/time for this kind of "treatment".

As a professional wheel and tire tech I see nothing wrong with this video. Yea there is always other ways to do things, but I like this way because its the little steps with the right tools to really do the job right. The fact that he's using guards on the machine to avoid scratches steps up your image to the customer especially with expensive wheels. If more shops used these tools I can guarantee you will have more repeat customers and you as a tech can charge more to do the install. Its a win win in my book!!!!

I have never seen anyone using these simple tricks and tools. Several times I had to ask to fix my rims because of their scratches.

I suspect 0:58 is what just happened to my wheel when I got tires installed. Arc-shaped scratches near the edge going halfway around the wheel.
Yeah there are most shops that don’t even have the soft tip attachments for these machines you either do the work or find another job

OK so a tire shop messed my wheels up but are denieing damages saying it's curb rash yet I've never hit a curb and the damage is on the bead area

If more shops used these tools I can guarantee you will have more repeat customers and you as a tech can charge more to do the install. Its a win win in my book!!!!
