Those high-school girls spamming Jojo's name probably got so much on Jotaro's nerves that he gave everyone a limit of using it going forward, until eventually forbidding it entirely.
In Eyes of Heaven there is one Giorno's dialogue with Jotaro part 6 (whitch is cut character) when Giorno asks to call him GioGio (but it's only in game files, because duh, J6taro is not in the game)
Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro: Guys, we can explain. Jolyne: You get to be called "JoJo" multiple times? I got called just three times! Josuke: 3!? I got called like that only once! Giorno: You guys are getting called by the nickname "JoJo"? ? ? ? ?
Actually very interesting to know that Dio never called Jotaro "Jojo" despite saying it all the time in Phantom Blood. I guess he truly considers Jonathan (now part of his body) the only one he wanted to call Jojo. It's either the name or "Joestar"
I legitimately forgot that they refer to Jotaro as JoJo a lot in the first half of Part 3. I could have sworn they almost exclusively called him by his actual name for the entire part. With the school girls I guess it makes sense, they are people from his school which is probably where he got the nickname of JoJo, but it's weird hearing Avdol say it. I guess my memories of that got entirely erased.
Part 1 to Part 2: JOJO Part 3: Still Jojo, but not very much Part 4: "We're gonna called you Jojo for now!" Anddd..... no one call Josuke Jojo, nor even his best friends, Koichi and Okuyasu. Part 5: I, Giorno Giovanna, have a dream and nobody even call me Jojo and my name doesn't have a J on it . Part 6: Only my mom can call me Jojo! Part 7: Yeah, I used to be called Jojo before I got crippled and it's my nickname. Part 8: Am I even a Jojo?
Part 8 spoilers Does Josefumi Kujo really count as a Jojo? Sure it makes sense name wise, but he's not related to the new universe's Joestars. At least not until he fuses with Yoshikage Kira and becomes Josuke/Gappy
I believe you might've forgotten about: - 3 Jojos in Stand Proud. - 1 Jojo in Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town. - at least 1 Jojo in Il Vento d'oro. - at least one Jojo in Jolyne's theme.
I also want to point out that Speedwagon and Erina are the only characters that refered to two of the protagonists as JoJo. Speedwagon starts calling Jonathan JoJo up until after the confrontation with Dio in the Joestar mansion. After that point he refers to Jonathan as Mr. Joestar. Erina calls Jonathan JoJo but after they get married she starts calling him just Jonathan. Erina and Speedwagon call Joseph JoJo (and in EOH if Joseph dies in a team battle where Speedwagon is his partner, Speedwagon will cry out "JoJo!"). I think the switch with Jonathan might be a respect type of thing (my guess is that since it's a Japanese manga, Japanese culture could have also influenced those changes) whereas with Joseph he's younger than them and they saw him grow up from when he was a baby so they can affectionately keep calling him JoJo.
And in a reverse way, Dio only calls Jonathan "Jojo" but when he meets Joseph and Jotaro in part 3, he refers to them only by their names. In a way, the only "Jojo" to Dio is Jonathan.
@@CeLeb144 i was thinking the same, like in p6 most of the time they call jolyne by her name instead of jojo, i kinda like it, also probably cuz Dio didnt think of jotaro as a worthy and important opponent like he did with jonathan
IIRC In the 80's having a main character with a non-Japanese name and for them to be a foreigner was rare in manga and Araki wanted the main character to have a name that would be easy to remember, so he went with the JoJo nickname. At some point in Stardust Crusaders he dropped it with Jotaro, probably because that wasn't the case anymore and Jotaro was more recognized as Jotaro then JoJo. Plus him and Josuke have Japanese names. By the time Giorno came around I guess he kept the naming convention but decided that it wasn't necessarily to force the JoJo nickname on him. Jolyne and Johnny get a mention of them being called JoJo by some people but it's not something they really get constantly called.
Honestly the only characters that were primarily called JoJo were Jonathan and Joseph. Jotaro, Josuke, Giorno, and Jolyne primarily went by their actual names.
