Good tip about pulley mis alignment . I Always use a long driver and rock back n forth to double check. Leaving the ratchet on the crank pulley, I may have done that.😁

Hey man, great video! I have a 87 740 and can’t seem to sort the timing. I replaced the distributor and maybe messed up the rotor position doing so. Any ideas where I could start? It cranks and tach bounces but that’s all. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
Real helpful, going to be changing my front cam seal soon, and I’m nervous about doing it cause I’m afraid of throwing off the timing. Still nervous but this eased my stress.
Don't sweat. Just take your sweet time and mark the shit out of everything if you have to. If you can't get the cam seal out also you can carefully drill a small hole in the seal and screw a few self tapping screws in em. Pulls right out.

Not everyone has the same luxury of time though when they really need their ride. I used to plan jobs starting from friday so I had the entire weekend if something effed up. I'm gonna do the same job when I receive my adjustable camshaft sprocket. Also have the Volvo tool for removing the harmonic balancer which is gonna make it a lot easier.
I wouldn't suggest doing it that way, a lot can go wrong with fingers and timing... Come to think of it, I watched your video, I think you should try timing it my way, this time and see if it idles, honestly just trying to help. Good luck brother, thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

Check the radio suppression relay or the flywheel sensor, or fuel pump relay or fuses.

At 5:39 what do you mean by the 240 will adjust itself, and would you be able to give me a couple of pointers on my 82 244 volvo
The ignition timing(spark) is locked generally.

Yeah sometimes the washer is loose or the wrong one is in the wrong place, that's when the screwdriver method saves the behind!
Don't bother with the pry bar to loosen tensioner, just pull the belt and tighten the nut
