That was a through line in a lot of the Barbie movies I thought? In Rapunzel and Nutcracker she’s just telling the story to Kelly, and in another Christmas one she actually is acting in a play?
I think I watched this as a teen while babysitting and the kids teased me about being so surprised.

Most Barbie movies are titled as "Barbie IN" or "Barbie AS" indicating Barbie is an actor playing in the movie, kinda blew my mind too lmao

I really liked Twelve Dancing Princesses and Princess and the Pauper. But this one really stood out to me as one of the best ones of the newer animation style. That and it was in the real world so it definitely was awesome.

Yeah, Barbie;s an actor. That's why her movies are called "Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper" or "Barbie presents A Christmas Carol" etc. When her name is Barbie, it's her. When they name her, she's acting.

The greatest memory I have of watching this movie as a kid are the war-themed flashbacks I can recall of 11-year-old me first realizing that Barbie's original voice actress (Kelly Sheridan = Legend) had been changed. 😅😆

I know it blew a lit of peoples minds. But barbie being an actor made so much sense to me as a kid. I was like oh, duh Barbie IN is at the beginning of every movie. No wonder its phrased that way and she always has a different name
this movie gives me overwhelming nostalgia ESPECIALLY that intro, I remember it all very acutely. I even remember the dolls coming out and I was OBSESSED with the pink dress, the poodle, the more realistic setting, the movie poster itself. The strapless layered dresses were EVERYthing to me. I had that tiny pink handbag in the transition and I remember that background because I had the closet. This isn't even my favorite barbie movie and yet it was PEAK doll worship for me. And I still didn't realize this movie revealed she was an actor the whole time!

I remember being so heartbroken as a kid when I found out barbie was an actor. Denied it for most of my childhood because (if I remember right) they changed the voice actress for Barbie around this movie, too, and the change was too noticeable for me.

A while ago I watched this movie while being absolutely hammered together with some friends that were equally hammered. 10/10 experience, would recommend. I don't think I've ever laughed as hard at a movie. Also, that thing with the paddle really must have flown over my head because I had no idea that happened.
