What I liked about the older Barbie movies is the fact that they actually looked like dolls. Modern Barbie movies just have them animated like in a general animated film. Does that make sense?

Barbie Princess and the Pauper is the golden standard of Barbie movies. I don't think Mattel will *ever* make another animated movie in the likes of it. The animation is actually quite good for the year it was made in, the story has elements that make it unique even if it's based on an existing novel, the characters have individuality, the sidekicks are perfect and, my god, the songs. Mattel tried it to emulate it by literally ripping off its own movie when they made Princess and the Popstar, but regardless of what people say, that one can't reach the level of its predecessor.

I wouldn't say they ripped it off with the popstar movie! I actually really enjoyed that one. Obviously the original is better and can't be beat, but the songs and story in the popstar one are quite good, too. It's a modern take on the original. And it's not like they copied the original entirely. The bare bones are the same, but they're pretty different otherwise (and the "to be a princess/popstar" song slaps! Again it can't beat the original but it's still pretty good!).

I remembered in high school, we are free to use our TV to watch movies during our free time. The girls wanted to watch Barbie movies, so the guys started complaining. Halfway through the movie, the guys were more focused on the movie than we are, some of them even stopped playing with their phones just to watch, like damn, that was the funniest and most memorable part of my high school.

Just so happy you liked barbie princess charm school. It’s my all time favorite barbie movie. The storyline is great, the music is fantastic and it still holds up to these days.

This was amazingly funny. I loved the Ken outfits and Barbie decor. The fourth day nervous breakdown, hilarious, and very relatable to any adult that has had too much children’s programming. Congrats to staying the course and finishing the challenge.

And I think are some of the best in the series too. The bloopers after barbie movies where the BEST thing to happen in the franchise though.

I credit Princess and the Pauper for making me obsessed with musicals as a kid, to the point where I felt upset whenever a movie (Barbie or not) wasn't a musical. Those songs were such effective storytelling tools (on top of just being bangers) that they permanently rewired my brain. Constantly replaying that film's soundtrack as a kid is easily the most I've ever listened to a single album, and now I'm an adult who follows Broadway news and who spends way too much of my very limited income on live theater tickets

to the people saying that ted stole this idea: he started watching the videos a rlly long time ago, as he was preparing for the release of the barbie movie which was last year. but quite frankly, they both did it in completely different styles- this video is more of a CHALLENGE video because he did it all in a row in an isolated setting. however, ted's video was a deep dive into the barbie LORE which was all about "who is barbie?". that is not what this video is. instead of pointing fingers and blaming creators who have similar ideas why cant we just appreciate that two creators made separate videos about the same topic. are you guys also going to go comment on minecraft youtuber's videos and say someone already played minecraft, therefore they are stealing their idea? binging shows/movies is not an original concept, however the way BOTH creators binged the barbie movies was original and entertaining! so just enjoy the content for what it is and stop bringing negativity into it.

I've thought about this, but why did they also get to do Ever After High not too long after that? Was there a clause where only Barbie could not do anymore princessy movies? I know they had to tone it down with EAH once they lost the rights to the Disney Princess franchise to Hasbro (which Mattel eventually got back) as well as Decedents becoming a thing.
This is mind blowing for me because as a little kid waiting for these movies to come out, I remember noticing the same thing! The quality after the three musketeers changed and I couldn't pinpoint out how or what changed (let alone why). Thank you for sharing this!

Also Low key I swear the Villan Mother Gothal was creepy as heck. Especially the lady playing her was Morticia Addams. And the game for rapunzel, the part where the castle was all grey and it had dreamt music. As a kid it was scarier than fnaf 1, mk. It just was bc I could feel like something could have jump scared me. Though tbh now as an adult it is not as scary but still very good at being aminous. Like if that was the while music for the game, it would be spooky.

I collected the animated Barbie movies as a little girl up until movie 12 (Mariposa), but the first 4 will always be my favorites. The 12 Dancing Princesses is another one I'm especially fond of, even if I'm not as nostalgic for it because at the time I was starting to grow out of my Barbie phase.
The effort put into this video was goddamn impressive. Not just the insanity that is watching all these movies, but the costumes, the room and the editing was top notch. Hope you got a good walk outside afterwards mate, lmao.
The Princess and the Pauper was my absolute favourite Barbie movie as a kid. I watched it so many times that I still know 99% of the "I am a girl like you" song in Danish! Barbie and the 12 Dancing PRincesses came a close second! Although I did grew up a little bit, so I didn't watch the same move ten times in a row at that point.
Barbie charm school was my childhood, no bad memories there (other than the fact the girls made full uniforms out of literal scraps but eh it's Barbie she can do whatever she wants) and when Liam kept saying how great it was it brought back hoards of memories, my favourite Barbie movie (I haven't seen many)

This video itself was oddly cinematic. 4:3 for that 2000's nostalgia, Colors, set design, and outfits straight from Wes Anderson, and the documentation of one man's slow decent into madness like in Shutter Island or There Will Be Blood. Really enjoyed this one Liam.

To be fair, I do think a lot of Barbie in Rapunzel's fame comes from nostalgia while Princess and the Pauper and Magic of Pegasus have more of a solid backing plot and character wise.
@@unclewiley1986 Oh, one hundred percent. I do have to admit I rewatched Rapunzel recently and it does hold up surprisingly decently for what it is but still somewhat lacks in comparison to those two. For me it is the music that makes it though. The main Rapunzel theme is absolutely angelic.

Yes I need an explanation on how he rated my CHILDHOOD 5 and 6/10. I LOVED barbie thumbelina, 3 musketeers, and a fashion fairytale. So I'm gonna need a real good reason why they're so low.
Barbie Princess and the Pauper is the golden standard of Barbie movies. I don't think Mattel will *ever* make another animated movie in the likes of it. The animation is actually quite good for the year it was made in, the story has elements that make it unique even if it's based on an existing novel, the characters have individuality, the sidekicks are perfect and, my god, the songs. Mattel tried it to emulate it by literally ripping off its own movie when they made Princess and the Popstar, but regardless of what people say, that one can't reach the level of its predecessor.

I wouldn't say they ripped it off with the popstar movie! I actually really enjoyed that one. Obviously the original is better and can't be beat, but the songs and story in the popstar one are quite good, too. It's a modern take on the original. And it's not like they copied the original entirely. The bare bones are the same, but they're pretty different otherwise (and the "to be a princess/popstar" song slaps! Again it can't beat the original but it's still pretty good!).

I remembered in high school, we are free to use our TV to watch movies during our free time. The girls wanted to watch Barbie movies, so the guys started complaining. I credit Princess and the Pauper for making me obsessed with musicals as a kid, to the point where I felt upset whenever a movie (Barbie or not) wasn't a musical.
Those songs were such effective storytelling tools (on top of just being bangers) that they permanently rewired my brain. Constantly replaying that film's soundtrack as a kid is easily the most I've ever listened to a single album, and now I'm an adult who follows Broadway news and who spends way too much of my very limited income on live theater tickets

to the people saying that ted stole this idea: he started watching the videos a rlly long time ago, as he was preparing for the release of the barbie movie which was last year. but quite frankly, they both did it in completely different styles- this video is more of a CHALLENGE video because he did it all in a row in an isolated setting. however, ted's video was a deep dive into the barbie LORE which was all about "who is barbie?". that is not what this video is. instead of pointing fingers and blaming creators who have similar ideas why cant we just appreciate that two creators made separate videos about the same topic. are you guys also going to go comment on minecraft youtuber's videos and say someone already played minecraft, therefore they are stealing their idea? binging shows/movies is not an original concept, however the way BOTH creators binged the barbie movies was original and entertaining! so just enjoy the content for what it is and stop bringing negativity into it.

I've thought about this, but why did they also get to do Ever After High not too long after that? Was there a clause where only Barbie could not do anymore princessy movies? I know they had to tone it down with EAH once they lost the rights to the Disney Princess franchise to Hasbro (which Mattel eventually got back) as well as Decedents becoming a thing.

I collected the animated Barbie movies as a little girl up until movie 12 (Mariposa), but the first 4 will always be my favorites. The 12 Dancing Princesses is another one I'm especially fond of, even if I'm not as nostalgic for it because at the time I was starting to grow out of my Barbie phase.
The effort put into this video was goddamn impressive. Not just the insanity that is watching all these movies, but the costumes, the room and the editing was top notch. Hope you got a good walk outside afterwards mate, lmao.

The Princess and the Pauper was my absolute favourite Barbie movie as a kid. I watched it so many times that I still know 99% of the "I am a girl like you" song in Danish! Barbie and the 12 Dancing PRincesses came a close second! Although I did grew up a little bit, so I didn't watch the same move ten times in a row at that point.

To be fair, I do think a lot of Barbie in Rapunzel's fame comes from nostalgia while Princess and the Pauper and Magic of Pegasus have more of a solid backing plot and character wise.

Barbie diaries has some of the most memorable songs for me of the series - like the 12 dancing princesses has the best instrumental, but “this is me” and “note to self” both exude pop punk for tween girls realness
Real life is the best song though

YES. Swan Lake, Princess Charm School, and the Princess and the Pauper were my FAVORITE movies growing up. I’m so happy they got such high ratings.
