  • We are back once again for another episode of '5 Good Minutes With Windy' and this week, our good friend Brian Windhorst is here to talk all things Cavs. Why haven't they made any moves? What will they do with Okoro? Will Mobley get extended. Windy answers all of that and MORE!

    The player that Windy alluded to for the Cavs wanted to "off-load" could very well be Ty Jerome. After doing a roster breakdown, Jerome seems like the most logical choice for the Cavs to free up a little more space on their salary cap as well as providing flexibility to opening up an additional roster spot, especially with the emergence of Craig Porter Jr.

      It's obviously Levert dude

    • @jarren32
      @jarren32 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ty is a 6 5 guard shooting 37% from 3 on high volume for 6 million a year.

      @bowdownb41uservetrigger70 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jarren32 Windy did state the Cavs would like to have "a little more space" under the tax apron to operate. LeVert is making over $16 million this season on an expiring contract, and traditionally contracts in that price range are easier to trade opposed to what Jerome is making $2.5 million (not $6 million) which is an expiring contract as well. I wouldn't consider $16 million "a little more space" in NBA terms, Windy was most likely referring to a player on or near minimum contract. Bottom line is that if the Cavs really wanted to trade LeVert and his expiring contract this upcoming season, they wouldn't have too much trouble doing so compared to trying to trade Jerome and his $2.5 million, especially if they are trying to trade those contracts individually on their own

    The Cavs are a solid roster with a better coach but no means to add a 5th core player. Koby Altman has made it next to impossible to improve around the core 4 besides Jalen Tyson. Fans and media saying otherwise really need to wake up. Koby himself is asleep at the wheel ( again ) , and the fact is they took themselves out of the trade game for any substantial upgrades, not moving DG on draft day. They have no draft assets to attach to DG or any lesser non core expendible either. Let's just hand Mobley the bag while we are at it.

In this case it’s a 24 year old with an AS selection under his belt and a 23 year old with a top 3 DPOY and runner up Rookie of Year. These are the players that get max contracts. Garland is currently the 26th highest paid salary for 2024-25 and that will drop by the fall. By his last year he won’t be top 60 or 70 in salary. Also Jarret Allen may be on the most team friendly contract in all teh NBA.
