Try Salice, I just installed them on the trash can build. They are identical to Blum.

Why is that have they shut shop?

@@woodscheidcreations8188 do te salice soft close slides also adapt to have tip on (push to open) like blum do too... we are planing out kitchen and going handleless need push to open and want soft close like these so not having to physically push the draws shut till locked in.

I look on Rocklers web site, Salice did show a set of slides with push to open, I haven’t used any yet so can’t comment on how they work.

I have 17” drawer boxes in our master bath. Can’t find any videos that tell me if the 18” Blum under mount will work or not?!? I guess I could build new boxes, just wanted to avoid it.

Valerie J, It's more complicated than you might think. First of all, Blum tandem drawer sildes only work with drawers that are in 3" increments in total length. Such as 21", 18", 15", etc. But then you have to calculate the extra space in your cabinet box that the drawer needs in the back for the slide and the thickness of your drawer front. It's best to draw this out full scale to get an idea how it all is going to work. Then you have to decide what thickness your drawer material is. Blum makes a different model drawer slide for drawer material over 5/8" up to 3/4" thick. But the other tricky thing is that the drawer width is determined by which model slide you buy and that's determined by the thickness material you choose as explained. As an example if you use 1/2" thick drawer box material, you subtract 5/8" from your opening width to find the correct drawer width. It's true, the Blum Tandem slides are forgiving, but in some ways only. My suggestion if you don't want to build new drawer boxes is to use side mount slides. In that case all calculations are must simpler. Hopefully you subtracted 1" from your cabinet opening width to get your overall drawer width? This is because most side mount slides need 1/2" space on either side. It is possible to mount Blum Tandem slides on drawers that are an inch or something short, you would have to add some sort of blocks to the back of the drawers to make them work. Hope this helps, I know it's confusing, but after 35 years as a cabinet maker I still get confused at times. Lol.

Thanks Tom! I had thought of adding a 1” block at the back to be able to use the 18” slides. I really dislike the look of side mount, but I usually make things really complicated for myself by wanting ugly stuff to be hidden. Thanks for your reply! I’ve only ever repaired existing slides and didn’t know how confusing it all was.
