He said it was one of his most difficult decisions. Also he turned down The Martian for PIKU and has no regrets. He said PIKU was an important film in his career.

@saptarshi naghow can you say that!! Both are great movies and one should be able to prefer one over the other without being judged for one's choice. I'm a Bengali and I loved Pan Singh Tomar too. I feel it is an important story that should be told. The more people who know about the man, the better. I had not known about such an athlete till I watched the film. I even loved The Namesake and you might say I did so because I am a Bengali - I wouldn't agree though. I loved the Lunchbox too and It's just a matter of mood which one I like best.
For someone to enjoy this movie one needs to have a soft heart with feelings and emotions, it's so sweet movie, but the guys who mostly like masala movies this movie is not for them. It's a gem of a movie for its storytelling and for acting of Irfan Khan and Nimrat. Just hits straight on your 💓.

The Lunchbox is an absolute gem! it is one of those films that teaches you how simplistic cinema (simple writing + directing + performances + editing + score) can become more powerful to genuinely move you as an audience, rather than using the over-the-top, extravagant, lavish choice of screenplay and direction which works to emote for you. Nothing seems mechanical in the film. Every frame of every shot and every performance seem natural and appropriate to the tone of the film - this was the reason why Lunchbox bagged a BAFTA nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, as well as the Filmfare nominations for Screenplay, Direction, Best Actor (Irfan Khan), Best Actress (Nimrat Kaur), and Best Picture; and won Best Supporting Actor (Nawazuddin Siddique)

For the past few days you have been watching trailers which are quite old. Now you got to understand here that Nawazuddin was still a struggling actor back then and yet to achieve the stardom. Nonetheless a great actor 👍

Nawazuddin has acted way more than what you see in the trailer....both have given fine performances here...must see for you guys. This is one of my fav movies where both have acted. This also highlights the Tiffin service Mumbai is famous for. Royal family of England has also visited this Tiffin service out of curiosity and how they function without any paperwork.
The greatest love stories are the ones that make you root for the protagonists to come together, despite their destinies. This film illustrates how love transforms the unlikeliest of people. Please watch it...
The Lunchbox is so different from the typical Bollywood movies. The acting is understated - brilliantly understated. A little trivia - the lunchbox distribution system in Mumbai is so genius a system that it has even been taken up as a study in Harvard. You really should google it - the men involved in this distribution system are called the Dabba ( box) wallas ( men).
I love Amy Adams too....loved her in nocturnal animals and in arrival... Although I still didn't get the plot of arrival..maybe that's because I was dumb when I was young
Rick is so right about Irrfan. He disappears into a role so completely that sometimes he becomes unrecognisable. He did a movie with Tabu called The Namesake, where, for a portion of the film at least, plays an elderly Bengali dad and such was his performance that i kid you not, i thought i was watching my dad. Also, please read 'The Namesake' and watch the movie when you can.
Irfan khan ..nawaz... rajkumar rao are the top actors as of now.. and to some extent big b too... if u ever come across any movie which has this names.. its a must watch.... u will never regret. And the lunchbox is one of the best movie

Though it was shown in the movie that the delivery guys made a mistake and gave the lunchbox to another man but in reality they have zero error system. They have time magazine's sigma 6 rating. These delivery guys are famous all around the world and they are known as Dibbawala.
watched it in in theatre, proud of it. After you see this movie, you should watch a youtube video of nawaz, where he was asked abt his 5 difficult scenes (one of them is lunchbox) . Its a grt learning experience, you will be blown away by him, i bet ya!
