    What a beautiful video.
Asobo Studios should really listen to you, as a dlc with alternate finales is really what this game needs.
I know other people are talking about it on the game's Steam comments, but I have not seen another TH-cam video saying what you just did.
I have also commented extensively on your other videos about my dislike for the game, but yes, I think I could forgive the company if they would only give me the opportunity of saving Hugo at the end.
Let's hope this video reaches the right eyes and ears, and that more people begin to speak about the dlc and that it becomes a reality for us who actually cared for Hugo.
I thank you very much for dealving into these subjects that no one else has, or are to blind to see, or are afraid to speak of.
In other words, I am glad for the success of your channel (I enjoyed your Batman video immensely); and am looking forward to your Black Flag video, because I am planning on playing that game very soon.

Thank you for your kind and comprehensive words. On the Black Flag subject, I definitely recommend you play it. This game actually helped me get through the mess of Requiem, and its story and characters is unlike anything we get these days. Once again I recommend it to you, it's really a great game.

Hi Jose. I watched all your videos regarding A Plague Tale in one sitting, just last night. Beforehand, I never knew about any of them, such a shame they don't have more views. Then again, I feel better small but positive reaction than bigger and potentially more mixed/negative, even if it would be uncertain, especially with your commendable way of civil communication.
I wanted to say that, I think these videos are a bit of a mixed bag, for me.
I VEHEMENTLY AGREE with the vast majority of things you showcased and explained in them, ESPECIALLY your dissection of the view that there is a lack of proper feel of continuity between the two games. In fact, I will stress that it isn't just the characters that feel VERY different to their original iterations, but the themes of Requiem as a whole seem/feel like a very sharp turn to the left; a glaring departure from what the previous game established.
What excites me a lot about your videos is that I had, and argued, this point of view regarding A Plague Tale's troubled continuity for many months, but you have worded those concerns better than I ever managed to.
I could write much more, but I will refrain from it and explain why I feel these videos are a mixed bag and what bothers me.
Basically, 90% of my problems with this are actually IN THIS VERY VIDEO. The thing that really rubs me the wrong way is your utter abandonment of any attempt at subtlety and nuance; half of the video is basically blatant "GIVE US A HAPPY ENDING PLZ GIVE US A HAPPY ENDING ASOBO GIVE US A HAPPY ENDING 😭"!
Such writing is horrendous or rather, horrendously counter-productive; it is quite literally A MAGNET for smug, annoying and simplistic pushbacks by those who perhaps liked Requiem's story more than you and others: "oh you're just immature Disney-ending kisser" "oh you just didn't understand the theme" "oh not everything has a happy ending" and so much more.
I shiver at such comments and their overused nature, and the way you framed it in this video, it basically invites such dumb, reductionist responses.
I fear the A Plague Tale subreddit crew, for example, would have had you hung, strung and quartered with downvotes and similar responses if you entered the sub with such an essay...
So to conclude, I very much like your point of view and everything you tackled with this video (in fact I'm silently hoping for more in the future 😁😏), but just be careful with the "happy ending"-topics.

Point taken and well appreciated. Fear not, I won't make a habit out of loosing my temper and crying like a little baby (LOL), I simply wanted this video to *feel* different because I felt different when making it. Amicia and Hugo are characters that really struck me to a profound level, and I felt the designers played them dirty.
Anyway, I'm planning on making more similar videos in the future so stay on the lookout.
I can't end my reply without thanking you for your sound advice and for the time you've spent in my channel overall. Thank you so much, be safe, and of course, Merry Christmas.

Amazing video. I totally agree, if we had the options to choose our endings in video games instead of one ending , they would definitely receive more praise from the player base.

I'm glad you agree. The time and the money you invest in a video game is much and certainly more than it takes to earn and watch a movie. Designers must strike a better balance between story and player agency, because if they are going to limit their game so much that it ends up being an interactive movie, then they might as well make a movie and it will end up being 18 hours shorter. I know a balance can be achieved, and alternate endings are a good way to start.
Have a nice day, or night, and take care.

I had the end spoiled for me but I still had tears flowing 😢

    • @joseortizreflects

The worst thing about the ending is that the writers removed Amicia and Lucas of their capacity to influence Hugo positively. Amicia and Lucas are two likeable and important characters that have looked after Hugo since the beginning of the first game, and to reduce them only as the instruments of Hugo's death is kind of disrespectful to their characters and their importance. All three characters, Hugo, Amicia and Lucas deserved so much more than what they got, and that is why I suggest the idea of alternate endings, so it is up to the player and his choices to determine what ends up happening at the conclusion of the story.

@@joseortizreflects I understand, I liked Requiem a lot but I did feel like the characters changed. I also think both Amicia and Lucas would've refused to kill Hugo (and that Hugo wouldn't have seen that as an option for himself to begin with). In Innocence, they act like children of the time would, but in Requiem, Amicia suddenly has this bloodlust and honestly cringe amount of pride and overconfidence that she didn't have before, Lucas is a brick wall, and Hugo acts like a kid twice his age (but not in a way that really reflects his growth during the previous game). The only one who didn't change was Beatrice because I found her as annoying and useless as in the first game

A Plague Tale: Requiem is one of those games charged with potential. It does a lot of things right. Graphically it's a very beautiful game (even more impressive is that it was made by a AA studio), gameplay wise is also good. There are some things about the first game that I miss in this one, like the ability to dodge and the alchemy that allows you to put people to sleep without killing them, but Requiem, on the other hand, adds other good stuff like the ability to defend yourself head on in combat and avoid instant death, Hugo's "Eagle Vision," which is always helpful, considering that Requiem's levels are wider in scope and complexity than Innocence's tighter designs, and the leveling system which is very practical because it improves upon the skills you use, similar to an Elder Scrolls game which is always my favorite leveling system in contrast to the classic XP system of the D&Ds.
However, on the other hand I didn't like the characterization, particularly Amicia's, and the ending. The ending is what bugged me and is the one thing I would like the designers to improve.
Endings are very important, particularly in a video game. They are what makes a journey worthwhile in the end, and what will mostly motivate you to replay the game. Usually, if I'm satisfied with the ending then I tend to replay or continue playing the game long after finishing the main campaign, but if the ending is bad then my interest in the game wanes dramatically.
Once again, the A Plague Tale games are two particular games that carry a lot of potential. They are The Last of Us meets Dishonored. Requiem, in particular, is also a very accessible game that permits you to reload not only chapters but checkpoints as well within the chapters, and if the ending were better, I would reload checkpoints more often and approach the stealth sections with different strategies, as I do so often with the Assassin's Creed games and the Batman Arkham series among other similar games, but sadly, with the ending that it has, I can't get myself to enjoy the fairly robust stealth sandbox within the game more often and with a better spirit.
To conclude, the ending of a story is very important. The ending is what sealed my relationship with games like Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Black Flag, now two of my favorite games.

@@joseortizreflects it seems we had similar impressions of the game then. I hope your videos make an impact since it seems like Asobo wants to continue with the franchise, and I know the devs and cast are very interactive with the fanbase. so here’s hoping

No, it doesn't. Like I already said, APT is an allegorical story and at its core it is about the truth of the human condition. Another example of this kind of story telling is "Das Boot", the movie directed by Wolfgang Petersen. And its ending is praised for being realistic, because otherwise it would not be a story with a true core, but just a typical Hollywood fairy tale that plays to the narcissism of its viewers and their demand to be "pleasured" and pampered with happy endings. APT's story is not about distraction but about reflection. And to accomplish that, it needs to maintain a true core. And APT's ending is truthful to its own fictional world and the reality its allegorical nature talks about.
If you want stories that distract you from reality, APT (and movies like "Das Boot") are not for you. If you want candies all the time and throw a tantrum if you don't get the candy you want, you need to look elsewhere.

Tuubster, I respect your opinion, and we have talked in the past, so I will ask you a personal question and please, be honest with your reply.
      Do you have siblings?

    • @TheTuubster
      @TheTuubster ปีที่แล้ว

@@joseortizreflects I will also ask you a personal question and please, be honest with your reply: Are you a 15 year old orphan girl from the 14th century that has killed people in battle?
Your question already points to a classic ad-hominem / genetic / appeal-to-authority logical fallacy.

    • @joseortizreflects
      @joseortizreflects  ปีที่แล้ว +2

The gender question I am not going to answer.
Amicia's character is not defined by gender. Her mistakes come from personal inabilities and immaturities, not because of gender. A boy in her place could have done the same things and garnered basically the same results so considering gender as part of the reason why Amicia failed is out of the question.
Now, answering your other questions, I am not from the 14th Century and I haven't killed anyone. However, I. AM. A. SIBLING, and that is the point of view upon which I make my A Plague Tale videos.
TH-cam teachers often suggest that you find your niche, ways to differentiate your content from others. Often I see people talking about A Plague Tale but rarely do they ever go in depth into the sister and brother relationship. So I thought, "Hey, I could do that! I'm a kid brother myself and I have a big sister so I can add this point of view into an already rich topic!"
Sling experts can talk about Amicia's sling animations in their videos, doctors could add light into the realism of wounds, animal experts into the characterization of rats, and real life siblings can go in depth upon how well the games portray the fictional siblings.
When I talk in my videos, I am not simplifying the story, I am just exploring one of its many aspects. I am not ignoring that the story can signify different things to different people, I am just presenting what it mostly signifies to me. Therefore, why is it so hard for you to accept that I have a different opinion to yours? When I've said to you that I respect your opinion in the past I've really meant it. I respect your opinion, so please, respect mine.
By the way, I noticed that you didn’t answer my question....
