    The first time I picked up the X70 I lifted it to my eye before realising it had no VF. My initial thoughts on the X70 are that the lens needs stopping down to get the best from it. Wide open it's quite soft. When the X-Pro2 release was put back to the end of March, I picked up a X-E2S and have been blown away by how good it is and what good value it is.

      Odd. Most reviewers are reporting how sharp the 18.5mm lens is compared to Fuji's X100 lens and even the Fuji 18mm f/2.

      +Rediscover Film so, either I'm doing something wrong or I have a bad copy. Need to investigate further

      +Calvin Chann possibly. I don't have an X70, but have been reading all the reviews as they have been popping up over the past ~month. Seems like Fuji addressed the issue with the 23mm in the X100 series which was very soft focused up close wide open (though not so bad if focused further away).

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Calvin Chann +rediscover film yes the X70 is pretty darn sharp wide open, and I've had two copies, the pre-production and now the production. The X-E2 and the similar X-E2S is a great camera for sure. Price performance is hard to beat considering how much more the X-T1 is.

    I continue to enjoy your videos and other type of camera reviews. A minor point I imagine but it seems very few cameras seem to measure up to the Ricoh GR in your reviews. It frequently appears in comparison, just as on this review of the X70. I thought the bottom line that image quality was the a very top priority for any camera device, although you state the GR has noise at higher ISO and the image overall is inferior to the Fuji X70 in some aspects. In past reviews you have mentioned and again in this review about the GR operating buttons placement being superior to other cameras. A small workaround at least in this instance given the positive image quality of the Fuji X70. I do not own a X70 or the GR but the frequent mention of the seemingly superior nature of the GR seems to be a continuing bias which appears to be somewhat of a cult following bias rather than a technically based one.
    I do believe you are one of the best and interesting photo gear reviewers. My switch from Nikon DSLR / system was influenced by your reviews of the Fuji X100T and other Fuji products. Regardless, just making a point.

      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Martin ODonnell Hey Martin thanks for taking the time to write this comment and your questions. Yes you make many valid points. Image quality is one of the factors that makes a camera or lens great, but it's not the only thing. For instance, if the top priority was image quality only, then an 8x10 large format camera is 'better' than any digital camera. Now this is an extreme example, but even let's say a DSLR versus a mirrorless. Price/performance the DSLR is better. For the price you get better image quality, better AF performance, better ergonomics, wider range of accessories and legacy lenses, on and on. However, the biggest downfall to DSLRs are size and and weight. A camera like the Fujifilm X100T has been very popular with many DSLR shooters. Even though the image quality may be less, AF slower, less features, and bang for buck way more expensive than a DSLR, the X100T has the form factor, the aesthetics and the size/weight advantage over most DSLRs. Even in this case, the image quality is not the highest priority.
      The same goes for the GR. As I say many times, it's not a camera for most. It's a tool, not a device. It's like comparing a manual screwdriver to an impact driver. The GR is simpler to use and you need way more skill to make the images work, but for those who know how to shoot, the GR will reward you with great images. Ergonomics and form factor are very important to photographers, especially for street photographers which the GR appeals to most. The more compact, the more discrete, the quicker you can switch modes and settings, the more likely you will get your shot. These things are often higher priority than the optimal image quality. I know I will get better images with my DSLRs (I have 5 of them), but I don't want to drag it around. It would be a hinderance to what I am trying to do. For some jobs I do use it and it's the best tool for the job.
      I hope this makes sense? I could probably go on for pages on this subject, and perhaps I will make a video discussing this very subject. Thanks again for your comment and don't hesitate to write back. Thanks for watching and thanks for your support.
      BHT

    I much enjoy shooting with the X100T over the X70. The shape and viewfinder (EVF) feels right at home. However, I get more shots with the X70 as it is small enough to take everywhere. Fits in a coat pocket easily, although not sure how I'll carry it around come warmer temps.

    I always enjoy these reviews because they're all so smart. Very well done. Having shot with the Sony A6000 for a couple of years now, and the lenses I've bought for it, it's a big investment to get one of these (X-Pro2) but I'm SO tempted.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sony is great. It's not sexy like the Fuji's, but can take great pics as well as amazing videos. Two of my brothers shoot Sony, and for most people I recommend the Sony A series.

    Those 2 photographs at the end has convinced me to buy a Ricoh GR.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +IDontKnow733 just remember that the image is highly styled due to their use of flash. Bruce Gilden is famous for this, and he uses a completely different camera. However, if you know what you're doing and shoot RAW and know how to properly post process an image, you will be happy with the GR. It's just not for everyone. I know because I know at least 10 photographers (now 12!) who shoot with the GR. I know another 10 who had the GR and sold it after. I know all the plus and minus of this camera. I love it to death but rarely recommend it unless the person knows what they're doing.

    You can shoot easily at 3200 with a X100T and/or XT1 with very nice noise especially in B&W.

    • @EDHBlvd
      @EDHBlvd 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually like my results from my X-T1 up to 6400. Sure there is noise, but it isn't horrible. I would agree that on my X100S, 6400 does seem worse than my X-T1. Shooting B&W 6400 looks fine. I sometimes even like to shoot at 12,800 in B&W for the grainy look.

    • @EDHBlvd
      @EDHBlvd 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rediscover Film 12,800 on my X-T1 that is.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cylurian Yes I wasn't saying the ISO performance is horrible above 800-1600, but I was specifically talking about base ISO while shooting on the street. I actually shoot the X-Pro 2 at ISO 3200 in daylight with great results. Although you can do the same with the X-T1, X-T10, X-E2, X100T, it is not optimal image quality. ISO 800 is a good base ISO for those cameras with that particular sensor and processor.

    • @cylurian
      @cylurian 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +bigheadtaco Can't wait to see this new sensor on an X100 or XT camera.

  • @mootrail9487
    @mootrail9487 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Nice tease, but waiting impatiently for the full X70 review:) Funny how the haters(GR fanboys) don't get it; the GR has some serious faults that make the X70 very attractive. If I get good high ISO performance with the applauded Fujifilm JPG processing, I'll be really happy.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Moo Trail yes the X70 has many technological advantages that I appreciate. Shooting at ISO 1600 during the day with the amazing colour JPEGs is great. However, I am also a GR fan and I understand why they prefer it over the X70. Both great cameras, both have strengths and faults. I'm sure which ever camera you choose, if you're a competent photographer, you'll find a way to create great images.

    I hope they come out with an X-E3 at some point - I don't care about the hybrid viewfinder, and don't want the added expense or size that comes with it.

  • @Kdkjdjewerdnxa
    @Kdkjdjewerdnxa 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've heard rumors that the X200 will have the same focal length as the X70, I really hope that is not the case. I'm looking to upgrade to a 24mp x100 and if they go any wider I really don't see any use for it with portraits and street photography close to the subject, 35 equivalent is just wide enough for both architecture/wide scenes and flattering portraiture.

  • @gaatzaat
    @gaatzaat 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice midpoint review Take, discovered your channel and website quite recently while researching Fuji cameras, lots of really great content! I've had my eye on the x100t for a while now as there's so much to love about it, but i'm pretty tempted by the x70. It sacrifices the viewfinder and 35mm focal length for what appears to be an improvement in both performance and features, in a smaller body. But then the viewfinder and 35mm focal length are surely the main attraction with the x100 line to start with... It's hard to decide, especially as the price difference between the two at least here in HK is not that much right now.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Iain Cocks wow really? The X100T price has dropped that much in HK? It's still a significant difference here in N.America. If I had to choose between the 2, the X100T is the more serious tool since it has a proper viewfinder. However the articulating screen can really help you get the great low angle and overhead shots. Hard choice!

    • @gaatzaat
      @gaatzaat 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I was a bit surprised too. In the big retail stores they're still asking for just under US$1300 but if you shop around a bit you can get hold of the black & silver model for US$950 and the black for $820! I guess the black isn't so popular; personally I like it more... Meanwhile you can find the X70 for US$620, so there's only a $200 difference.

  • @EDHBlvd
    @EDHBlvd 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think your statement about the GR jpegs "sucking" compared to the Fuji X70 very big. Many Fuji shooters like myself are mainly or even solely jpeg shooters due to the amazing Fuji jpeg quality and colors. Knowing the GR's don't compare is very useful.
    I did some reading on the GR II and it seems their camera wifi app is a real mess as well. All 11 reviews on the AppStore are 1 star and very negative. Seems Ricoh has some work to do there.
    Lastly, despite Fuji's weak video ability, it still outdoes the GR II's complete lack of manual control and lower frame rate (X70 can do 60p).
    Thanks for the mid-review.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rediscover Film I guess I was overstating the bad JPEGs, it's just compared to the Fujifilm, the Ricoh is just 'meh'. The only one is the black and white high contrast and the bleach bypass which is not bad. However, the guys shooting amazing GR images are all shooting RAW (again except for the mentioned profiles).
      The wifi on the GR is not very good, it's not even really an app. It connects to GR's website and then it's this weird app that is working off their server somehow. It's not AdHoc either so you need an existing wifi network for both your camera and phone to connect. I'm sure they're working on it. Again, I feel Fujifilm is one of the best out there so there's no comparison.
      Fujifilm's video control is great, including full manual control of aperture, shutter speed, film simulation, ISO and even a 2.5mm (grrr) mic input. However, the image quality is not very good when it comes to a dynamic scene with complicated lighting or detailed background. Lot's of moire happening and highlights wash out very easily. The GR actually has better video image quality, but it's the complete opposite when it comes to control. Auto everything!!
      Thanks for your input! I love both cameras very much but the GR is still a shooters camera that most will hate. The X70 is a very general purpose camera that will appeal to a much larger crowd of photographers.

    • @EDHBlvd
      @EDHBlvd 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bigheadtaco thanks for the clarification on jpegs. Ricoh does have a limited iPhone app called Image Sync (
      appsto.re/us/uTpn5.i), but the reviews are horrible. If it really can't create an adhoc network that is garbage.
      I feel like they rushed the GRII to market. Not really an upgrade. Imagine if they brought out a digital GR21? My wallet would spill open for it.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @EDHBlvd 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bigheadtaco either of you guys use the GW-3 wide angle adapter? I'm obsessing over the GR21 but the admission price is so damn high. Maybe going with a GR and the GW-3 is a cheaper (and digital) way at getting a similar feel (much larger rig though).

  • @classicalvin

    Hey Take, I gotta ask... How does the X70 respond in comparison to the GR's full press snap? My GR broke and I'm considering switching to the X70. I know for the X-Pro 1, you'd have to wait a little bit for the focus to hunt and aperture blades to close before the shutter fires and I'm wondering if the same goes for the X70?
    In terms of responsiveness, does the GR's full press snap beat the X70 despite the X70 having a faster AF?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vayton // both those cameras are very popular. The Rollei is 100% mechanical, no need for batteries to make it work. The A-E-1 needs a battery but they last a long time since it's only meant to trigger the shutter and for metering. Look at the Canon A-1 as an option. It's one model above the AE-1, slightly better build quality and a few nicer features.

    Oh you young thing! The main reason I can't shoot using an LCD screen is because I'm over 50 (just). An enormous % of the population start needing reading glasses in their late forties and fifties. When I shoot with an LCD only camera I have to squint or hold it so far away I can hardly frame properly. I'm reaching the point where my arms are too short. So even if I wanted to use such a camera I couldn't do it effectively. Please don't suggest half moon glasses!
    On my X-T1 I tend to review the shots looking through the viewfinder rather than at the LCD because I need to get my glasses out to do that effectively.
    The other reason I prefer not to shoot LCD only is that moving attention from the subject to the screen just loses contact with what I'm doing. It is all about where you place your attention and that should be on the subject. Or at least for me it should. But maybe that is because I'm getting on....
    Of course you Ricoh GR guys only wave it roughly in the right direction anyway ;)
    Thanks for the review. Fun videos to watch.

    Great update, I finally decided to travel lighter and preorder the xpro 2 to keep the d800e at home when traveling or chasing the kids. Just wondering what lenses you'd recommend, I already ordered the cheap weather resistant 35, seams like a great deal for a good lens. I use the 80-90mm range a lot so I looked at the 56 but there's been a bunch of people talking about poor focus speeds with it, how was it on the xpro 2 for chasing kids? Thanks Peter

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Peter Choma X-Pro 2 is pretty good and the XF 35mm WR focus is probably the fastest focusing prime they have. The zoom lenses also focus quickly, but the XF 56mm is a bit slow yes. The second gen lenses of all the XF lenses will be faster.

      +2klatte Hi there, congrats on the X70. Yes I'm waiting for Fujifilm to send me the OVF and wide adapter and I'll do a review of these accessories. It's the same problem as the Ricoh GR with no viewfinder. You need to know your angle of view by instinct, pre-focus your distance and shoot blind in bright sunlight. I'll explain in video in the future.

    Lost in the release of the XPro2 and X70 was the XE2s. Have you tried it out and if so is it an enough of a improvement over the XE2 to be worth the purchase. I am looking to get a new mirrorless camera, want to stick with Fuji, and am torn between the XT10 and the XE2/XE2s. I know that some of the improvements they made with the "s" will be available on the original via firmware updates, but are there other improvements that make it worth getting or should I just get the original?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      between the X-T10 and X-E2s it comes down to form factor. Rangefinder versus DSLR form. You gain the articulating screen on the X-T10 which is huge, but if you don't use it, then you gain a smoother shaped and slightly more compact X-E2s. Between the two X-E2's, there isn't anything huge between the two, but there are slight improvements here and there. Using them back to back, I didn't see any difference. If there is a notable price difference, then I would say the X-E2 makes more sense, considering they both run the latest firmware version 4.0. All 3 will take the same quality image, but feature for feature, I would say the X-T10 is the better camera due to the articulating screen.

  • @theronsan
    @theronsan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    How is the touch shoot on the X70? Does it focus first on the same spot that you are touching and then it shoots? Or does it only shoot when you touch the screen? So for an example, if your focus point is set on the upper left corner of the screen and then you tap on the lower right corner of the screen, does the focus shift to that point and then it shoots, or does the focus point remain at the upper left corner?
    Another question, how is the AF speed on the X70? Does it hunt a lot when using it on the streets?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ron San The touch focus and release will focus on where you press and also release the shutter, all from the screen. It's pretty good. It's not as fast as the Leica Q, but it works good on the street. I would say 80-90% of my images were in focus using this technique. The AF hunts a bit, nothing amazingly fast, but on par with the X100T, perhaps a bit slower. I thought it would be faster but it's not.

      @theronsan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bigheadtaco Thanks for your reply! I have the X-T1 today and I'm thinking about getting a smaller camera. The X70 looks nice :) But I would also be interested in a X200 if it will have a 23mm focal length, but it would probably be similar size to that of the X-T1, so the X70 might be more of what I'm looking for.

    I know this is a bit out of context but what are your thoughts on the X-E1 at this point as a starting camera, good enough or not worth it? Thanks

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eric Theriault it's definitely 'good enough' to take decent pictures. You just won't have the latest technology or features, such as electronic shutter, faster and more accurate AF, more film simulations and other things. These features don't make you a better photographer, but makes things a bit easier. If it's within your budget and you don't have the need to always have the best, the X-E1 is a fantastic camera.

    I really love to watch your video's!
    What are your thoughts on picking up a (new in the box) discounted x pro1 for a beginning photo enthousiast ? I will mainly use it while i travel: landscape, architecture, some little street photography... I figure that for the price (500$) you can grab them these days you can not go wrong on an x pro1, right?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Irezumi1989 although I love the X-Pro 1, I think for an enthusiast you will like the X-T10 better as it's much more functional with the latest firmware and technology, or even a used X-E2 because it just got the latest firmware update. Both fantastic cameras. If I was wanting a budge X series body, I would choose between these two.

      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Irezumi1989 Faster AF, more accurate with more AF options, better button layout, better menu layout, better JPEG film simulations. The only thing is the X-Pro 1 has the hybrid viewfinder. However, the EVF isn't very good on the X-Pro 1 except in bright daylight.

    Im not sure why fuji didn't put a flip out screen on the X-Pro 2 going into damn 2017. ughhh, still makes me mad, it was suppose to be my next discrete landscape camera, but now I have to go for the fuji XT2. Its important to have that flip out screen for landscape, getting low or high, super important.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes Fujifilm takes their aesthetic consideration as important as their functional features. Similar to the X100 series, the X-Pro series is a nod to the classic rangefinder cameras of old (and new if you consider Leica), and throwing on things like an articulating screen, vertical control booster grip etc is too SLR or DLSR like to Fujifilm's aesthetic taste. Yes, it would make the X-Pro2 and X100 series more functional, but would conflict with the looks. How important is camera design to Fujifilm? I think it's a big part of their success (but not only). My guess is Fujifilm will never put an articulating screen or a booster grip on the X-Pro or X100 series. They will just create another camera (X-T2, X70) that will integrate these modern features. I'm neither agreeing or disagreeing with their decisions, I just understand what they're trying to do, and so far they've been very successful.

    • @jed23ify
      @jed23ify 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      bigheadtaco yea totally agree that Fuji keeps soul in their cameras, you can almost get a sense of their history through the aesthetics of their cameras. Which is why I love Fuji and not too keen on Sony cameras. Although I do think that the Sony A7 line does have its place, and well deserved in the photography world.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I've shot with both the X-Pro2 and X-T2 extensively. I prefer the aesthetics of the X-Pro but I need the functionality of the X-T2, mostly the video feature.

      bigheadtaco I owned the Fuji XT1 and enjoyed it for a few months for landscape photography. Although I enjoyed the RAWS after Lightroom editing, I had issue in the fine details, and foliage looked like pastel painting. So in the end, I wasn't able to get the quality of photos for my landscape in the XT1 RAWS, so I ended up selling it. So I tried the Sony A6000, A7ii, Nikon D750, but none of them offered me the fun(or soul) and versatility of shooting like you can on a Fuji. What Fuji camera would you suggest for landscape photography only(well occasional family photos)? Thanks for the input!

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The new 3rd generation sensor-processor on the X-Pro2 and X-T2 is a huge improvement over the previous. The pastel-smudgy detail issue is mostly resolved, especially when viewing at intended viewing distance. You can always pixel peep and be unsatisfied. The leap from 16mp to 24mp, as well as reworking the processing has really made the new sensor much much better. This new sensor will eventually make its way into the rest of the line up over time. Stay tuned for future releases.

    Would you recommend the x70 or a sony rx100 for everyday use and very compact design?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Infragelb both are great cameras. The RX100 is smaller than the X70, it has a built in EVF (mrk III and IV), superior video taking abilities, and a zoom lens. The X70 has a much larger sensor, more intuitive controls with more control dials, and superior battery life. It depends on your priorities really. The X70 is more towards a photo enthusiast, while the RX100 does everything well. Remember the RX100 is very menu driven, which drives me crazy. The X70, when set up correctly is mostly dial and button driven. Less digging through menus.

      thanks for the lightning fast answer, could i just get the x70 with evf? ^^, after your summary and as a traditional art photographer i would pick the x70, they even are on the same price scale and therefore direct opponents, thanks again you really deserve your views, what is this gorgeous looking lenshood and or lens you are using with it?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** there is no EVF option with the X70, only an OVF, which isn't very accurate. The X70 and X100T share the same mount so I've mounted the hood from the X100.

    High five for another GR owner here!
    I think the X70 is, in a word, pointless. If you want 28mm and, more importantly, compact, why would you not want a GR, which is truly pocketable, and one-handed "operate-able"? Heck, even the Nikon Coolpix A was pointless because it just wasn't one-handed friendly enough to be a "proper" compact. If the X70 had a viewfinder, then yes, I could see the point. But then isn't that similar to snapping on the wide angle adaptor to an X100? Or an 18mm lens on an X-Pro? Once you go beyond pocket size, I don't think the size difference between the 3 really matter that much. Even the naming is kind of messed up too. There were the brilliant X10 and X20, then the X30 kind of rendered the series, again, pointless, because the lack of OVF, the defining characteristic. And then now this thing is called the X70? What happened to 40-60? Does it mean having a 28mm prime equals 4 generations better than a small-sensored zoom lens camera?
    By the way, just as a side note, I am a GR owner, but I'm actually not that keen on 28mm... I wish there was a 35-50mm (preferably 40, or 43 even!) equivalent of the GR.

    • @EDHBlvd
      @EDHBlvd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      X70:
      - better high ISO
      - better colors
      - better jpegs
      - tilt screen for low angle shots
      - true manual focus with a focus ring
      - visually see shutter/aperture at a glance
      - better video (full manual control, 60p)
      - better wifi app
      So I see a ton of reasons to spend the $150 more to get the X70. Cheers

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +leiya107 I do agree with you in terms of naming, it did surprise me a bit. Clearly it's not the replacement of the X30, but at the same time I understand it's a brand new category that they are trying out so I sort of understand, although slightly confusing for someone who are new to Fujifilm. As I mentioned, the X70 is targeting photographers who would buy the GR, but with different features. The articulating screen is very popular (I know 3 current GR photographers who are currently testing the X70 and simply love the ability to shoot low angle). The ISO performance is also better, JPEGs are better, and manual focus is superior. However, if these features don't mean much to you, then it's a no brainer, stick with the GR. I am. Although I love Fujifilm's JPEGs, I prefer the look of GRs RAW files, as well as the better ergonomics.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated.

      If you want a '40mm' angle, I can highly recommend an X-E body fit with an XC 27/2.8 as super compact with all of the benefits of the X-70 save a flip LCD. (of course an X-A or X-M with the 27 and a 40mm finder is even more compact and they HAVE the flip LCD too!) The 27 is technically a 41mm, but it is really close to the old Leica CL and 40/2 Summicron I had in the long ago. :)

    • @leiya107
      @leiya107 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Eric Berube I have thought of that option. But I think my current 40mm set up is hard to beat: a Micro 4/3 camera (E-PL7 with a flip screen) with the 20mm f/1.7 lens from around 6 years ago. I love that lens so much that whatever happens to M43, even if it goes extinct I'll always have an M43 body just for this lens. Trouble is, I still find this set up too big to carry around everyday. I'm done with carrying a small messenger bag just to hold my 1 or 2 cameras on days that I may or may not even shoot pictures. That's why I love my GR, despite the fact that I don't really like the 28mm focal length. What I really want is my M43 set up crammed into the GR body. I don't mind the sensor size going down to 1", so long as it stays large aperture and compact camera size. I value ergonomics/handling/compactness far more than the minute differences in image quality - they've all gotten so good, as long as it's bigger than 1" I'm OK with that.
      As far the Leica you mentioned, I *am* looking out for cheap deals on a Minolta CLE! But I think my Olympus XA is good enough for now (Again, you can see how I value small size more than anything).

    • @leiya107
      @leiya107 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bigheadtaco I know how good the Fuji sensor and processing are. I admit that along is good enough justification to go for the X70 over the GR. The GR does suck a little bit in ISOs higher than 3200, which is a shame because I can't quite hand hold the camera like I can with heavier ones (more mass always = more inertia and stability), so higher ISO is often needed. I can only realistically set the shutter speed limit to 1/100, even 1/125 in the menus just so I don't get blurry shots. If the X70 had IS then maybe I'll consider switching. But still, the small compact size of the GR, for me, makes up for almost everything. The GR is one of the very few serious cameras that I can carry without any bags. It's always better to have a camera with you than leave it at home. With an X70, I'm afraid I'll probably leave it at home way more often than I should.

    i think fujifilm for the most part has really horrible choice of x photographers-David Allan H. is good but most of them not so much--if you look the quality on canon and nikon site you will see a huge difference--and no im not a photographer but rather art collector who likes occasionally to take pictures with fuji cameras- But if i was choosing to get fuji cameras based on x photographers work -- i will stay away from fuji-

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sonja Sanchez The X Photographer program is probably less than 4 years old. Canon and Nikon have had sponsored photographers for probably 30-40 years. Give them a few years to develop a better program of selecting and publishing photographers that use their cameras.

    • @sonja5591
      @sonja5591 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      sure- you got the point -but i believe that they should have very strict rules from very beginning-- honestly when you look at x photographers portfolio majority of work looks bellow average- which in the eyes of young photographers or even experienced ones translate in --fuji cameras not capable of taking quality photos-

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sonja Sanchez yes I'm on your side, there are some questionable X Photographers, but it will work itself out. Each country chooses their own, and it should probably be done from a single office or country (Japan or USA), or hire a third party company to make those decisions for them.

      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      full press snap or just zone focusing will almost always beat AF. The X70 does hunt slightly before locking onto focus, and sometimes I actually find my GR is faster depending on lighting situation. Compared to the X100T, the X70 is slightly slower, which surprised me. Compared to the GR, it really depends but feels about the same to me.

    • @classicalvin
      @classicalvin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your response. I went ahead and ordered a used GR V from eBay. On the plus side, I have an extra battery and saved money. On the minus, no wifi - but I can honestly do without it! :)

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alvin Paringit if all you need is a serious street shooter with the best lens, the GR is very hard to beat. The X70 has more features, but as a strict shooters camera, the GR is better.
