I really hope to see a Fujifilm X80 (or whatever they may name the evolution of the X70) with all of the video features of ATLEAST the X-T20. I'd love to see 4k 30 @ 100mbs with that vlogging screen. I adore this camera!! I just don't think I can justify it over the X-T20 for the money.
3 Years later still asking for it Cmon Fuji bring us an X80 with stabilisation and snapshots like on the xf10 !!! It will be a Fuji lovers MUST HAVE and will sell like crazy
If you wanted a lower profile lenshood on the X100, I suppose you could outfit it with the X70's.. or would there be vignetting?. if you have the wide & tele converters for the X100, may want to see what happens if you attached to the X70.. or mix and match all of them!.. Wonder if the TCL-X100 tele would possibly make the X70 a 35mm equivalent?.. probably will have some distortions.. thanks for showing off the accessories.
How is the quality of the WCL? I have ordered one and I'm waiting for it :) I agree that it would be nice with a black leather case for the black X70 but I think the leather case for the X70 only comes in dark brown.
Hey, what´s your experience with the optical viewfinder? Is it worth it? It makes the camera look gorgeous IMO but is it worthy beyond the looks? Thanks.
depending on how you shoot, but Fujifilm did not update the firmware to allow you to turn off the LCD screen, so it's always on even when using the OVF.
Big knife for what looks like a nice neighbourhood - would not want to mess with you :-) I'm still on the fence for the x70. In some ways it makes me think of my Nikon coolpix 995 - for which I have the fisheye add on lens. And I like the shoot from the hip format. This is what I miss on my LX3, although I like the 24mm ... Thank you for your videos - I find them informative.
thanks for using a regular still photos camera and test its video capability. my question is about the super zoom cameras.. why they don't make it anymore? I used to own the fujifilm xs1.. which has a great zoom and functions.
+painful1978 super zooms exist, but the market has shifted the last few years. For a while, super zooms were often the flagship model in most brands' point and shoot category, but over the years they've become a different and lower-end category. However, in the past 2 years, some brands have come out with larger sensor super zooms with great features, such as the Sony RX10. Fujifilm does make the Finepix S1 superzoom, and it has some pretty cool features (WR, IS, EVF) but it's not part of the higher end X Series.
Man, all these accessories are in different colors. It makes me feel uneasy haha. My OM-D EM-5 looks good in black with a silver 17mm f1.8, but I don't use a black lens hood on it any more because I like the two-tone.
Cool accessories. Yeah, wouldn't that be cool if Fuji did make the WCL for the X100T so it would give you a 21mm focal length! I would definitely get that! Good video, thanks man!
+Ted Vieira thanks. Yes, I never reviewed the WCL-X100 because going from 35 to 28mm equivalent was more of a focal length preference, not extending the angle of view enough to consider it as a 'wide angle'. I don't know many photographers that walk around with a 35mm and 28mm lens as options. You can attach the WCL-X70 onto the X100T, but it won't be optically corrected. It would be nice if Fujifilm created a firmware update to correct this, as it would give the X100T with the WCL-X70 converter an approximate 24mm wide angle view.
+bigheadtaco Yeah, that would be cool to get at least 24mm (although 21 would be fantastic). I've got and love the TCL for the X100T, but I agree, going from 35 to 28 wasn't enough to justify it for me. Thanks man!
Hey Ted ! That's cool to see you're input in other's channel since i value both yours and BHT opinions before buying anything. You guys made me spend so much money in fuji gear last year and recently an x-pro2 ! So guys : stay passionate and continue your excellent job !
+Tussorte Dhaffer Yeah man, thanks! Yeah, I love Take's channel - one of my favorite photography channels on YT. I know what you mean, Take has been very helpful in inspiring me to make a few purchases as well! Good stuff :)
Thanks for the shooting the video with the X-Pro2. Gives a good indication for what the upcoming X-T2 will do or even surpass it (if the 4K rumors turn out to be true).
+एड्वर्ड कॅस्ट्रो Yes, unlike the previous X series combination of sensor and processor, the new combination does a pretty good job. It's no GH4 or A7S, but decent enough for someone like me who needs occasional video.
+bigheadtaco Yes, I've really never done much video myself either (with a large sensor that is). I have been taking video with my wife's SG S7 Edge and I must say I'm impressed with the quality coming from a phone especially the OIS on it. But on Fuji's side, I really wish they would of added OIS on their 16-55mm f2.8 pro-zoom. I guess to take care of shaky video footage I'll have to end up getting the 18-55 since that one is the only semi-wide to telephone that has OIS (I don't feel like buying the 18-135mm). Just my ramblings....
एड्वर्ड कॅस्ट्रो I actually wish they added OIS to some of the prime lenses or short zooms, even if it means they have slower maximum aperture. Perhaps a XF16mm f/2.8 WR OIS, or a wide zoom XF14-23mm f/4 WR OIS. Those would be very video-centric lenses, although most who shoot Fuji aren't really interested in video. Perhaps Sigma or Tamron could come up with something instead.
+bigheadtaco A 14-23mm f4 would be wonderful for video. From what I've read Sigma (and I'm sure this is true for Tamron as well) are not interested making lenses for the X-mount. Not enough market share for them to bother with. I know that can change in the future, but for now it's a bummer.
the new sensor and processor combination is a huge improvement over the previous generation X trans sensor and EXR processor. In fact Fujifilm 'dumbed' down the specs as this sensor can do 4k video. We may see 4K added to future X series cameras. Plus the mic input is handy, albeit a small 2.5mm plug
+Adrian I really like the look of the x70 but I'm not sure about the lens focus/speed and from what i've read the rx100 gets better pictures even though it has a smaller sensor, since it has image stabilization and gets to 1.8
+Khalid Sait all three of those cameras are all quite different and are meant for different types of people and photographers. The easiest camera to shoot with to get decent pics is the Sony. The Sony will also have superior video if that's what you want as well. For straight IQ, the Nikon. The X70 is unique since it has a sensor the same size as the Nikon, but in a very compact size. It's for someone who wants the highest IQ for the smallest size. It also has a wide angle equivalent lens, very different from your 50mm equivalent on your D3200 (1.5x crop on your 35mm lens). You need to know what you want to achieve photographically and what you're willing to compromise (size, weight, IQ, functions and features, price, etc.) to get what you want photographically.
+bigheadtaco I'll be traveling solo around east asia for 5 weeks so the lighter the better, and i mostly shoot stills (landscape & street photography). so basically what I'm looking for in a camera can be summarized in 1. IQ that i can trust to save my memories and don't regret having a better camera 2. Tilt screen for selfies 3. WiFi to send the pictures directly to my iPhone
Thanks for the vid. I had already ordered the hood which is enroute. The case looks nice and I may order that. I'll pass on the wide converter as 28mm is plenty wide for me. I have issues with add on viewfinders as they don't correct for parallax and the don't provide and info regarding focus or exposure.
+Calvin Chann yes the OVF is a very very unique/odd accessory. Some love it, some completely hate it. I get both sides. Coming from film or rangefinder style photography, many learn to love the parallax and do work-arounds. Others who have always shot SLR or DSLR and require exact framing, the OVF makes absolutely no sense. Shooting for over 25 years, I've shot both styles and appreciate the strength and weakness of both styles.
+Calvin Chann too bad. It's not a bad kit. Funny, it seems that even the brown case is not available everywhere. B&H only shows the black case. Odd....
there's no electronics in it. It's just for framing. As I mentioned in the video, if someone who is scale, zone or manual focusing, once they set their focus with adequate depth of field, focus distance is not necessary. But for most, this is a problem. I hope version 2.0 will give some sort of LCD overlay info like the X100 series
+bigheadtaco thanks Take, appreciate the reply. An overlay would certainly be a nice touch from Fuji, helping it to distinguish itself from the other 28mm viewfinders out there! I wonder if centre point focussing and reframing could also be a work around for the lack of focus check on VF.
+Doc 8404 it's a cold mount accessory, so there is absolutely no electronics. The next version should either be an EVF or an OVF with an overlay with camera information.
Don't put tape in the hot shoe! I did and pulled the spring plate right out when removing a piece of gaff tape I had covering the shoe. Luckily I figured out how to snap it back in. Easy, but tricky at the same time, so save yourself some grief and skip the tape.
+Moo Trail yes I tried tape and it didn't work. I'm thinking a piece of very thin plastic or cardboard. I too am worried about damaging the contacts on the hot shoe itself. Another thought was put a small bit of epoxy or glue on the bottom of the OVF along the railing, the part that does not come into contact with any electronics.... I'll keep everyone posted...
Hey man, beautiful video and I particularly like when you stopped the video to do some cleaning up :) Does the X70 gain any light when using the wide angle converter? I imagine it works like a speedbooster (wider = more light crammed into the same area), so I'm hoping it becomes like a f/2.0 or something. Thanks in advance!
bigheadtaco thanks man! Bought the X70 based on this video! I've been weighing the WCL and the Samyang 12mm (for my X-T10), and this video pushed me to the WCL side. Fuji owes you one I guess! Thanks again.
+bigheadtaco awesome thanks. The funny thing is one of the aftermarket hood makers, JJC, made a hood similar to the LH-X70 when only the LH-X100 was out for the X100. Seems like Fuji may have "borrowed" the design.
Rediscover Film the advantage of the Fujifilm hood is that it has a built in threaded adapter as well. You can use a pinch-style 49mm lens cap without removing the hood portion, or remove the hood and use standard 49mm filters.
It's funny how I own so many expensive shades, but everyone seems to be interested in these cheap ones I bought. I talk about it here in my vlog while I was in HK: th-cam.com/video/ZxDNMc-tEwA/w-d-xo.htmlm28s
+DSI Pictures yes because it has a 62mm front filter thread. However, since it's a wide angle lens, it will probably vignette if you screw on a standard filter. Buy a stepping ring to increase to 67mm and then use different filters.
Calvin Chann the X100T will eventually be replaced, my guess is within the year. I wouldn't count out a firmware update that will give ACROS to the current X100 though. Let's wait and see...
+Calvin Chann You mean the replacement for the X100T? Other than the new sensor and processor, I don't think they'll change the lens focal length of 23mm (or 35mm equivalent). I do however hope for a more compact TCL with a 50mm equivalent, or a second model with a XF35mm f/2 lens with OIS.
Marco van Urk for sure, but he uses it to mask the fact that he's looking into his articulating screen while shooting. When I used the X-Pro 2, the screen doesn't articulate so I was wearing to both avoid direct sunlight as well as my tired-looking eyes :-)
+nicholas han it's the Spyderco Manix II. All my bros and bro-in-law have the exact same one. A gift from mama for rebuilding her balcony. It's my number 1 :-)
It depends on your needs. An APS-C sensor camera with a 21mm equivalent wide angle lens is pretty cool in a camera this compact. It's still smaller, lighter and cheaper than buying the X-T10 with the XF14mm lens. If you're traveling and want a wide angle lens option, the option is there for those who want it.
bigheadtaco Yes, but at these prices you might as well get the x100s/t + converter at a cheaper price and get the optical viewfinder and whatever bells and whistles. The whole point of this x70 is being a super compact street camera like the richo gr.
+patio87 the wide angle converter on the X100 only gives a 28mm equivalent lens, hardly wide angle. The X70's WCL-X70 gives you an expansive 21mm equivalent lens. The Ricoh GR also has a 21mm equivalent wide angle converter, and it's just as big and heavy (and also longer) as the X70's. The point is to get a 21mm equivalent lens, there's no small or light way to do it without major optical compromises. I think perhaps the issue you have is not with the converter but with the optical viewfinder, which I totally understand. At $200 it's pretty expensive for a piece of glass.
the reason not to buy it price. it so over priced, that nobody buy living in NYC I never ever see it in the hand. I see once Ricoh, like 5 x100 in the year 4 japan and one russian tourists))) even medium format Leica, but never ever x70. let's be honest fuji not want to publish numbers. it seems to me it mo reviewers than people that buy it. for mee camera is perfect if it will cost $100 . a year before i bout samsung galaxy prime.for $29.99 w/o contract with 5" HD screen and lot of features. this is today price for electronics and this is why no one will buy x70
Yes there are different markets and perhaps the X70 isn't huge where you are. I know quite a few people buying the X70 in Vancouver, and it's popular in Asia as well. Compact selfie camera cameras like the X-A2 is a huge seller for Fujifilm in South Asia, although not very popular in N.America.
bigheadtaco yes most review from canada. but NYC is canon-sony zone. so you do not see fuji. in last year i see one xpro and 4 x100 that's all. but again imho it not because market it because pricing

+Avery Kelcey thanks!
Like the rangefinder types alot, and optical viewfinder is a plus.'
This is still one of my fave videos by you Take. Love to 'Frankenstein' my X70 too.
for fujifilm x generation is avaible ?
Also, I would have fiddled with the split ring on next strap for like 40 minutes. You're a seasoned pro at dealing with the split rings!!
thx so much . I'm a novice to photography but I'm sold on this camera .
Hey, what´s your experience with the optical viewfinder? Is it worth it? It makes the camera look gorgeous IMO but is it worthy beyond the looks? Thanks.

Can I use that lens hood from X70 to be used on X100V?
Hey man, would you still recommend this camera in 2020?
thanks for using a regular still photos camera and test its video capability.
my question is about the super zoom cameras.. why they don't make it anymore? I used to own the fujifilm xs1.. which has a great zoom and functions.
Sony RX10. Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000. They still exist.

nice , anyone know where a black x70 can be bought in vancouver?
Good video, thanks for this!
Most important: what flash do you have on your X100 (s/t) which you "click" in the beginning :)??
Fujifilm EF-X20 flash, not to be confused with the EF-20, which is not as nice
+bigheadtaco Thanks! It looks good and the results seem fine aswell!
Should i get the X70 or RX100 IV for my travel? or i can just stick to my Nikon D3200 + 35mm 2.8
I get a x70! Man, Amazing jpegs better than sony rx100!

1. IQ that i can trust to save my memories and don't regret having a better camera
2. Tilt screen for selfies
3. WiFi to send the pictures directly to my iPhone
.
Thanks for the vid. I had already ordered the hood which is enroute. The case looks nice and I may order that. I'll pass on the wide converter as 28mm is plenty wide for me. Does the X70 gain any light when using the wide angle converter? I imagine it works like a speedbooster (wider = more light crammed into the same area), so I'm hoping it becomes like a f/2.0 or something. Thanks in advance!
the WCL-X70 does not gain any light, it is a standard screw-on type adapter. It works out to be a 14mm f/2.8 or 21mm equivalent on a full frame.
bigheadtaco thanks man! Bought the X70 based on this video! I've been weighing the WCL and the Samyang 12mm (for my X-T10), and this video pushed me to the WCL side. Fuji owes you one I guess! Thanks again.
that's great. Yes it's a great accessory considering the price you're paying for a 21mm equiv.
bigheadtaco yeah! To me there's also the factor that my X70 is now serving two different purposes. Incredible value, this! Enjoy your weekend mate :)
Still got your X70?
please compare 14mm f2.8 agains the x70 wide angle converter. thanks
+MikRoriz yes that's on my list of things to test :-)
Much love BHT.. made me happy. Click click.
Take, can you try the new X70 hood on the X100T? I can't see it vignetting as it is a tighter lens, but curious if it does. Thanks.
+Rediscover Film I don't see any visible vignetting via the LCD or EVF. I would have to shoot and compare on screen to make sure, but it looks safe.
+bigheadtaco awesome thanks. The funny thing is one of the aftermarket hood makers, JJC, made a hood similar to the LH-X70 when only the LH-X100 was out for the X100. Seems like Fuji may have "borrowed" the design.

+bigheadtaco ya I have the original but stopped using it as it makes the X100S too bulky. No I run with the lens naked. Much more compact.
What sunglasses are you wearing?
It's funny how I own so many expensive shades, but everyone seems to be interested in these cheap ones I bought. I talk about it here in my vlog while I was in HK: th-cam.com/video/ZxDNMc-tEwA/w-d-xo.htmlm28s
bigheadtaco H&M! Thanks man!
Does the viewfinder works with X-a5?
it's just an optical viewfinder, not an electronic connection. It will work but only has lines for 14mm and 18mm
Can you switch out lenses?
No, you can only add the wide angle converter, that's it. The lens is built in.
really wished they'd do a 50mm equiv teleconverter
Hi, thanks for the video. Just wondering can you still screw on a ND filter in front of the WCL-X70 wide angle converter? Cheers :)
+DSI Pictures yes because it has a 62mm front filter thread. However, since it's a wide angle lens, it will probably vignette if you screw on a standard filter. Buy a stepping ring to increase to 67mm and then use different filters.
+bigheadtaco Cool cool, thank you very much :)
Mind doing a vid for canon g5x accessories, if any?
+TheMajorBlock maybe in the future. I've already returned the G5X.
Curious to hear thoughts on X70 vs X100T. I'm weary the AF is too laggy though, based off watching it in other videos. Seems slower than my X100S.
+Rediscover Film the AF seems to hunt a bit more than the X100T.
I'm hoping that they release an update to the X100 with the new 24mp sensor/processor which would then allow Acros. Otherwise I'll get a T.
Calvin Chann the X100T will eventually be replaced, my guess is within the year. I wouldn't count out a firmware update that will give ACROS to the current X100 though. Let's wait and see...
+bigheadtaco no, I meant a new model. I hope it remains at 35mm though
+Calvin Chann You mean the replacement for the X100T? Other than the new sensor and processor, I don't think they'll change the lens focal length of 23mm (or 35mm equivalent). I do however hope for a more compact TCL with a 50mm equivalent, or a second model with a XF35mm f/2 lens with OIS.
is wcl x100 lens fits to x70?
It will fit but there's no digital correction so it will look really weird. I should try it and see what it looks like.
video in classic chrome is awesome
Great video again. But, you don't need the 'Casey' sunglasses. ;-) I am more involved with the story without them.
+Marco van Urk thanks, ya I've been wearing shades due to allergy season. My eyes :-(
+bigheadtaco OK, I'm sorry for that. You mentioned Casey in other videos.
Marco van Urk for sure, but he uses it to mask the fact that he's looking into his articulating screen while shooting. When I used the X-Pro 2, the screen doesn't articulate so I was wearing to both avoid direct sunlight as well as my tired-looking eyes :-)
+bigheadtaco All the best with your eyes. Good luck with making great videos! Thx.
Marco van Urk ha ha, it's not a big deal, I'll be fine, but thanks!
The video from X-Pro 2 looks /really/ sharp, but it looks kind of choppy. Might be real-time film processing.
I shot the video at 24fps which is a classic film look. If I shot it at 60fps it would have looked more like a camcorder video, almost too smooth.
Dang Take, thats a large spyderco.
+nicholas han it's the Spyderco Manix II. All my bros and bro-in-law have the exact same one. A gift from mama for rebuilding her balcony. It's my number 1 :-)
Too bad that they stopped producing-involving this camera..
I still have hope..... but a little less now with the X10... but hopefully with the new GR III it will motivate Fujifilm to innovate
haha this is rebranded old voigtlander external finder..
+Laszlo Gallo it also looks and feels a lot like the Ricoh GV-21 as well.
+Brandon Colton ya I remember that deal. Good job!
What's the point? Why would you buy an x70 and put that huge converter on it?
God stop with the click click
Sorry, I like it.
🌯🌯🌯🌯🌯🌯
+maurice s. yes, not cheap if you're on a budget! The best deal is the wide converter. $200 for a 21mm equivalent lens is pretty good.
Show some fucking photos already
the reason not to buy it price. it so over priced, that nobody buy
living in NYC I never ever see it in the hand. I see once Ricoh, like 5
x100 in the year 4 japan and one russian tourists))) even medium format
Leica, but never ever x70. let's be honest fuji not want to publish
numbers. it seems to me it mo reviewers than people that buy it.
for mee camera is perfect if it will cost $100 . a year before i bout
samsung galaxy prime.for $29.99 w/o contract with 5" HD screen and lot
of features. this is today price for electronics and this is why no one
will buy x70
Yes there are different markets and perhaps the X70 isn't huge where you are. I know quite a few people buying the X70 in Vancouver, and it's popular in Asia as well. Compact selfie camera cameras like the X-A2 is a huge seller for Fujifilm in South Asia, although not very popular in N.America.
bigheadtaco
yes most review from canada. but NYC is canon-sony zone. so you do not see fuji. in last year i see one xpro and 4 x100 that's all. but again imho it not because market it because pricing
